The stereotype I get upset about nowadays is cracks and put downs of people my age and love BTS. Just because I have snow white hair does not mean I'm senile. I have a job, I work every day, i have my BTS bomb, I stan all seven but Jimin is my bias. I'm learning Korean and love Korean food. BTS are 7 of the most talented, dancers, musicians, songwriters, and I hope to live long enough to see them in person. They have changed my life enormously. I'm 72 and I'm ARMY. Oh I almost forgot, I got my first BTS tattoo day after Christmas 2020 on my back. Borahae!!

I really think the stereotype about BTS being perfect came about because we just love them unconditionally with their imperfections... at least for me it´s like that ... things that I wouldn´t like generally I tend to suddenly gain a new perspective at and learn to love and accept it because of them and I think that´s one way of them changing the world for the better! It´s like John Cena said: It´s how they conduct themselves as human beings 💜 You know how they said that you must love yourself to be able to truly love someone else ... that´s very true but with BTS I somehow learned to love myself more by loving and learning from them🤔🤯 And what I realized because of that is that in most cases you tend to dislike in others what makes you vulnerable ... for example, I had some social anxiety to a degree and watching J-Hopes very outgoing confidence was hard for me to watch at the beginning because I projected my own fear onto his situation if you know what I mean ... but now I learned that the only thing that matters is kind intentions and that I can also be myself without having to change myself for others to be deserving of love! I think one of the weirdest stereotypes is that people who speak less than American standard english are stupid. Like, the US is a large country with a lot of people. There is clearly going to be a difference in some of the things we say as the way people learned english and the people in who influenced the accent in that part of the country are different. It is really bad if you are from a southern state. Don't assume people are unintelligent because of such a small thing, essentially.
With the negative and positive reinforcement/ feedback, I’m kinda the same, but it can’t be all negative. My dance teacher only gave me negative feedback that I just gave up and didn’t want to pursue dance in any kind of professional way, and I only danced for fitness and not fun. I wasn’t even shit lmao, I did well in exams. She never sprinkled in any good comments to make me think I’m improving, maybe a fly away comment once a year, so she just made me feel like I was an absolute shit dancer who wasn’t going anywhere

A stereotype that bothered me especially when I was in school was the dumb blond ditz. I'm blonde and have ADHD so sometimes I get really hyper and don't have great impulse control this was especially true when I was a teenager and a preteen but I was not an airhead. I was grateful for my classmates that they got to know me well and knew that even if I could be silly and hyper that I was also intelligent and thoughtful and analytical. Unfortunately some of the students in the class below me who didn't share any classes with me and just maybe saw me in extracurricular activities or at lunch time would only see the hyperactive me and I would get bullied. People are so much more than one thing even people who can have trouble expressing themselves verbally can be very intelligent and creative. Someone who was like this was Taehyung. Especially when he was younger, he struggled with expressing himself with words and he was often very hyper. Also he's such a unique personality and has such an unique way of processing the world and expressing himself that he often seemed strange to others. But thankfully everyone in BTS soon came to love Tae not only for his quirky strangeness and friendliness but also to value his creative genius and cunning. (Of course they also value his pure heart and honesty.)
A stereotype I’ve gotten: Puerto Ricans are loud! As an introvert I resent that. People used to say to me “omg you’re so quiet~~ I thought all Puerto Rican loud and sensual and spicy~~” No bitch. Stop generalizing people. Some of us like to keep to ourselves. Even my mom who grew up in Puerto Rico is a quiet person! Also I’m sure other people who aren’t Puerto Rican can relate!
8:06 funny u say that bc i feel like there always has been clothes geared towards men but women embraced these earlier. a few centuries ago, wearing pants used to be seen as exclusive to men, and it was *illegal* for women to wear them. now we have oversized sweaters, varsity jackets, sneakers etc. which before used to be seen as very masculine or tomboyish. but i think at this point those items of clothing have just become unisex because they’re so widely worn by women that nobody sees them as just for men anymore.
A stereotype: I'm very hestiant and shy to record myself on video or anything similar because I'm from out in the country and I have a pretty thick accent. Some people assume that people like me are uneducated because of the way we talk. I can't always speak clearly enough to be understood but I do study on subjects I am highly interested in and like to expand my vocabulary. I'm better at articulating my thoughts in writing than out loud but I can assure you not all of us who have a country accent and that live out in the country are lacking an education.

They aren't singing the N word but really common words in any language and if you know BTS or a little Korean you know what it means, if you don't know BTS you still hear that it's another language so why assum that they are singing a bad english word? and it's easy to look up. But I'm fluid in two languages and studied 3 more in school + learnt somewhat of 3-5 more outside of that and everyone of them I think have words that sound like or are spelled the same as a bad word in another language so for me it is crazy BTS they felt they had to change it because someone might hear it as the N word. People can look it up once and know it's not the N word but BTS rewriting their lyrics and singing songs different is alot of work and not being able to use forms of "I" and "you" is hard. But also YES it does sometimes sound just like the N word that is true. If you watch their Home performance they did for Jimmy Fallon Suga raps "Big house, big cars, big rings Naega wonhan" (내가 원한 Naega wonhan meaning I wanted) and naega right after english might have your brain on english but still as I said if someone thought he said the N word they could look up the lyrics and know within a minute. I also saw some guys react too Fake love and in Suga's part they heard the N word but they did not have the cc on and they knew right after posting the video from everyones comments. I think it's educational and good for english speakers to get to know a bit about other languages. If it really was the N word thats a whole other story but it's not and most of the times it does not really sound like the N word.
In south korea a lot of men are into makeup or at least know what bbcream is. Skincare is also really big. Taking care of yourself and having a clean appearance is very important. Denal Hygiene is also really esencual
Can't help but think about the hundreds of threads on Twitter that say "Mom I don't want to dress like girls my age, I want to dress like **insert member of BTS here**"...Regardless of who the clothes they wear are geared for, people all over the world want to dress that way because they look amazing.
About the "BTS are perfect" thing, this seems to be used a lot by the long term "ARMY" (I put this in quotes for a reason because they feel like the same people that supposedly left the fandom when PTD dropped) when newer ARMY talk about the improvement of the guys' writing and mindset from stuff like Boy in Luv to Boy with Luv lyrics. I get wanting to defend the guys, I love all of BTS, but as a female ARMY I am glad they have reconsidered how they write lyrics addressing women, and to me, that shows them always willing to grow. I would rather support a group that is willing to learn and grow, than one that refuses to admit mistakes or learn from them. Also, if they show a willingness to grow and change, to me that is more exciting when thinking about what will come next for them because it's far less predictable.
