That's how certain young men are viewed...it's crazy how they leave out the age factor, and personally I don't think Prime helped him much he's selling his family brand and coaching at the same time. Most head coaches aren't doing that in college football it never works out.
@@chuckadams1229 prime does have a lot going on coaching, business, recruiting, his family and his health. He doesn’t have time to continue to mentor cormani. The position coaches are the guys that are letting him know what cormani is not doing
@chuckadams1229 Gentleman this was the #1ranked corner coming out of high-school....Google the #1 ranked corners over the last 10 years... you have patrick peterson...eric berry...Marlon Humphrey...patrick surtain...Derek stingley....etc!.... they all played when they were freshman in the Sec....and you could tell they were dogs...cormani couldn't cover the wr in the pac 12....c'mon I don't care about his attitude...if he goes to class... doesn't want to practice... he's not as advertised... he showed no ability in the games he played in.
"MCCLAIN'S GRADE OF 51.4 ON 279 SNAPS BY PRO FOOTBALL FOCUS IN 2023 RANKED WORST AMONG CU DEFENDERS THAT PLAYED MORE THAN 136 SNAPS.".. and that’s in the Pac12 .. imagine how he’s gonna get cooked in the SEC
Hopefully this will make him get better grow up you know. when you’re a five star in high school life is easy but when you’re running with the big boys, they don’t care about high school
@michaelwebb325 prime is a great motivator for people with the right mindset. But prime downfall is prime earn the right to be a "diva", these kids think they earned it from day one in college. Honestly I think McClain came out big headed. Tried to use prime for the spot light. While putting minimum effort into better his game.
Die hard gator fan here, I’m with you brother, but our gators have been all over the place lately, coaching has been a fxcking disgrace since urban Meyer left
@@kingmaliik422 Yeah, we all heard the news. Thank you for telling us what we already know. You do realize that "less humbled" and "willing to work" contradict each other, don't you? Also, the fact that it was his "Original CHOICE" and it took him an extra year to make it doesn't make him look smarter. Why? Because it begs the question, why didn't he just go there from the giddyap? 🤦🏾♂️ Also, you never addressed the OP. PLUS; going through ALL of That, JUST to go back to his "Original CHOICE", AND be , according to You, "less humbled" makes him look even LESS smart! 🤦🏾♂️
Welp it’s put up or shut up time for Cormani McClain. Either he is going to revive his college career at Florida or he is just gonna be a big disappointment.
He’s going to UF as a walk on!!!! UF got their starters and he will be behind at least 4 reserve DB’s so he gotta earn his scholarship and playing time and if he don’t then he’ll be back in the portal next season
@kevholt Moore has done nothing in his 2yrs n wasn’t impressive in the spring game. Honestly none of the Florida DBs was impressive in the spring n we all know Florida defense has been subpar for years. Cormani has a great opportunity to play, start n ball.
@@kevinchristie4972 honestly I’m not sure I was looking at it from his limited play on the field. Whereas Colorado had one DB on a televised game later in the season get picked on so bad he started arguing with his own teammates on the sideline.
@@WinstonbndmkdkmzmmsmskeskStoke I dont understand what your reaponse even means. It's a little disjointed. But I can tell you that this kid wasn't ready physically and work ethic was not there. He wouldn't study and routinely misses practice and meetings. He was even suspended for a failed drug test. So, when you have that DB that was picked on, on national TV playing ahead of Cormani that should be a good indication that he wasnt field ready. Now he is going to the SEC where the play is elevated, the athletes are alot more skilled, and they work at their respective crafts like they're already in the league. Lol. Good luck to Cormani
I'm not sure if y'all are familiar with cornerback development, but it's the second hardest position to play as a freshman. You can name the players on one hand who were successful their true freshman season as a corner. Let him mature and get developed. You can't say someone won't be successful after one true freshman season, don't be a casual.
I was surprised that anybody would give him a chance. He was good in high school, a world away from division one ball. He went from the best place a CB could be at to Florida and without a scholarship. I would be surprised and amazed if he was able to get good but I am not betting on him.
MBG, all the negative comments about Cormani have been brought on by Cormani. Now he has to turn the ship around and prove himself worthy of a second chance. Will he? Who knows. Most of us hope so, but many of us question his discipline at this point. Too bad he couldn't find that discipline at CU. Great talent but up until this point he has wasted it. Praying for the young fellow. God bless and go buffs cause we still here.
Says who? You? Cormani ran to the smoke as the SEC is the best football in college n Florida has the toughest schedule in the nation. Florida believes in Cormani n Cormani believes in his talent.
Gainesville is far enough from Lakeland where he will be okay. Close enough for his family to visit his games, far enough where he won’t be going home every weekend. Hopefully this whole situation humbled him and taught him a lesson. He’s a young kid at the end of the day. I wish him the best.
He is not special. There are HUNDREDS of kids just like him that didn’t have results like he did. They went to school, did what they were supposed to do, he didn’t. He was an ace in high school. D1 ball is a different story. If he were so good he would have shown it at Colorado. He had plenty of opportunities to do so.
@@mizzkiwi929 you’re saying this as an adult. A college kid is not going to drive 2.5 hours every weekend when they can hang with their new crew in their new city. Trust me. I know Lakeland like the back of my hand; he’ll be in Gainesville more than he willl be back home.
@@josebrown5961 I believe in second chances , especially for “our” kids. Again, I hope this was a growing lesson , like kids go through. It’s unfortunate that you don’t see it the same
@@LetMeMuseWell that’s nice, a real nice thing for you to feel. What I (and our web host) am trying to get through to you is second chances are never just given in football. In a few weeks hundreds of kids like Cormani was last year will be in the mix. That right there means that the road for Cormani will be that much more difficult. He played like utter crap last year and he didn’t impress any of his coaches. Why do you think he wasn’t snapped up out of the portal? A player that has acted like him gets a tag, a tag that reads UNCOACHABLE. And coaches don’t want to waste time on players like that. They want players who do what they are told. They want players that go to ALL meetings. They want players that do film study. Word on the street was he wasn’t that player at Colorado… You can’t blame Coach Prime for him not doing well. If his play last year was better I could maybe think that maybe the coaches and him didn’t get on. But he played like a high school player, and he was in college. He is also scrawny. He probably should have been redshirted and given to the strength coach. A good diet and some hard work in the weight room would do that boy some good. So yes he has a second chance. We will see what he does with it. Oh and he is not a “kid” anymore. He is a man, and with NIL he can be a well paid man. Definitely not a sweet boy.
Well first of all he was only a freshman, and he's a teenager, Colorado had became more than a football team, they were almost like a rock group, and as a teenager who's been told for years he's the highest grade of cheese and most definitely wasn't being the best version of himself, and as a young man, when he was being recruited, all he remembered was all the fun they were going to have, and for that first month or two, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing about Coach Sanders and Colorado, so I think when things started going south, and he wasn't being player they needed him to be, the honeymoon period was over for everyone, but being a teenager and a star recruit, maturity and work ethic can be difficult for a teenager, so leaving that environment and getting all the criticism, could be the best thing for him, he's still a kid, immaturity as a teenager is not a death sentence, I'm rooting for the young man to become a man, and play great football, except against my Auburn Tigers WDE!!! 😂
@@Bezozonand yet that’s all you hear Colorado concentrating on. All you hear about are the second and third string supposedly 4 and 5 star recruit retreads they have gotten off the portal. Either the stars matter or they don’t. No matter how many stars a players has next to their name they still need to be developed and either Deion isn’t interested in development or doesn’t know how it’s done. Seems to me his plan is to rape the portal every year in hopes that he gets lucky and they can win simply by stepping onto the field.
He has the talent but if he doesn't change his work ethic he won't see the field and even if he does he's gonna get COOKED by the receivers that are in the SEC
Deion fixing attitude? The same Head coach that talked trash on a former player of his? The same head coach that posted a 19-20 y/o stats to bash him? That deion?
This is why florida was a bad decision, Because Next year The rules change for players in the portal. you just can't put your name in a transport portal, Unless you have passing grades. Which will slow down a lot of player movement. He Should have went to the smaller school like UCF Just in case grades stop you from moving. Not only does he got on the field problems but off the field problems in the classroom.
I get it. But judging him solely off of what he did last year isn’t the right way to look at it. Different guys react to being homesick in different ways. Or maybe your right but he’s going to UF as a walk on. 5-7 UF has nothing to lose. Hopefully he develops there without dealing with the altitude
went from being CB2 to CB7, from 30k/month NIL to preferred walk on… low work ethic, hiding in bathrooms, missed meetings, not watching film and blames the coaching staff lmao
I hope he succeeds, he’s wasn’t a 5 star for no reason. You could tell from the film when he did actually play. Colorado seems like a relatively unserious program. If he flips his mindset at Florida. Which i feel like will have less tolerance for BS, I think he can be good. (Plus he’s was a summer enrollee freshman)
You are more kind than I am. High school ball and D1 college ball are two completely different things! If you are a 10 in high school, that equals about a 3 in D1 college ball! So his 5 star ranking doesn’t mean squat till he shows something on the field, and we have seen what he does on the field… The kid is scrawny he needs to put some weight on. He needs to listen and do what his coaches say. I want him to do well like you but I don’t think he ever will. It will be up to him to prove me wrong.
@@josebrown5961 , exactly! I want to see the kid do well also but let's be real here. If, arguably, one of the best cornerbacks to ever play in the NFL can't coach you or get you to understand that in order to be great you have to sacrifice, grind, and work hard at your craft, then no one can. Cormani can point the finger at everyone else and make excuses all he wants but last I checked he was the one not showing up at practices, meetings, or the classroom. He was even suspended for failing a drug test. Kid apparently likes to hit the Maryjane a little too much. Cormani is very fortunate to even be in this position with another P5 program because from what I'm hearing no other P5 programs would even look in his direction. He was only getting interest from lesser programs like HBCUs, etc. I hope this kid gets it right, but we all have seen so many talented young men come out of high school, be ranked 5stars, only to end up bagging groceries at the local grocery store. All because they were too hardheaded and thought that they knew better than all the other people who were trying to help make them great and who had themselves put in the hard work to be great in their earlier professional careers. Being an athlete myself and playing college ball and having friends who have gone to play professionally in football and basketball I can tell you that one thing you don't want to happen is being labeled as un-coachable by any program. If that happens, it's a rap!
I hope he succeeds too but you can't blame the Colorado program for Cormani's shortcomings on and off the field. And Billy Napier is on the hot seat so Florida's not in a good spot as a program
@@malcolmjones27You have more football experience than I. I only was able to walk on a D2 program after an injury took out my senior year in high school. But I have seen the difference between high school and college and to read all these people that don’t know what you and I both know about football and coaches just makes me want to scream! Like you I will keep a good thought but I know that in all reality he is really 99% done. He will have to totally change the way he has been acting and if he doesn’t he will be in the portal again and then he will get zero offers. He’s a 5 star recruit, maybe he can make one of the minor pro league squads 🤣🤣🤣🤣 ( just kidding!)
Florida will have to do behind the scenes malfeasance in order to make sure he meets the academic requirements to remain eligible to play. Coach PRIME wouldn’t do it. He insisted that he EARN everything that’s required of him. He held him ACCOUNTABLE for his poor behavior, character & lack of work ethic. At Floria, he’ll be the best at vomiting into a trash can during practice, smoking weed, not going to classes & meetings, hiding in the bathroom in order to avoid meetings and practices. Everywhere you go, there you are!
Florida fan here. I have very low expectations for him. With that being said he's a preferred walk on so we lose nothing if he doesn't work out. Hopefully he works out but I do not have high hopes.
He was getting cooked at Colorado and had by far the best corner in NFL history as a coach and left. He is going to Florida in the SEC with damn near every team has a killer at wide a tougher competition still not gone help em. Only thing he will be able to do is be lazy and not go to class SMH. This lets me know the star ranking really doesn’t mean anything cause some 5 stars don’t live up to the hype.
They go to camps , majority of them be 3 stars or 2 stars honestly. Cause I can’t see how they thought he was 5 stars . They must thought he was Sauce Gardener 2.0
Everyone wished down on this kid! I've never seen so many negative reviews regarding a freshman transferring to another school! Even went to the point to say that the kid had no POWER 5 OFFERS! Everyone who brought into the medias agenda to diminish, devalue, & tarnish this kid are FOOLS! I'm happy for you Cormani, Makem Believe!!
Stay at it Matt. I coached at an opposing highschool in Lakeland. He is the truth. I also played corner at UF in Spurrier’s first class. I hope he does well. He will have to work. Tue SEC is still the toughest conference.
As a semi-Florida fan I don’t feel anything about this. If he works out, great! If not, his ass will be on the bench while the young secondary continues to get reps. I’m not really excited but I’m slightly intrigued just because I know that he has talent at the very least. I just hope that Napier doesn’t force him out there just because he’s a former 5 star
This is going to be a very interesting story to watch unfold. A whole lot of people, including myself, are very suspicious of the whole situation surrounding Dieon Sanders, and what's really going on at Colorado. A whole lot of people think it's a circus and reality show, and think that Sanders isn't really serious about being an elite power 5 coach. So if this kid goes to Florida and doesn't perform, or keeps staying in drama, and gets exposed by another coach and team for being lazy, and being a deva, then it's going to look like Dieon and company were right about this kid. However, if he goes to Florida and balls out, and looks like an elite defensive back, then Sanders and company are going to get exposed and people are going to start asking questions as to what's really going on behind the scenes at Colorado. Now personally, I think Dieon Sanders has a gigantic ego, and has been relieving his career and prime through his boys, and Travis Hunter. If Shedeur, Shiloh, and Travis enter the draft at the end of this season, then I don't see Sanders staying at Colorado. This man is a great speaker, and has an ability to work a crowd and say all the right things, but I don't think he's an elite head coach at all. Either way, the real truth will eventually come out ... it always does. If his boys and Travis do leave and enter the draft at the end of this year, and Sanders leaves Colorado high and dry, before his contract is even up, then I can't wait to see all the Neon Dieon stans start making excuses and trying to give him a pass. Remember, Sanders stated publicly that him going to Colorado was Gods plan for him. And if he cuts ties with Colorado before accomplishing much of anything for that school and program, and takes off to a big, blue blood program, think of what a mess that poor Colorado program will be left in. He's done very little highschool recruiting, and most of his players are transfers with one to two years of eligibility left tops. That program will be left in a dumpster fire, in way worse shape then when Sanders inherited it. If you look at his recruiting level and roster, when you take Travis, Shedeur and Shiloh off that roster, your left with an average. mediocre roster at best, and Dieon isn't going to just sit still and have mediocre season after mediocre season and get exposed. I truly believe Dieon thought that his name and star power would just emedietly result into elite recruiting, and that the best of the best highschool players would be breaking their necks to come play for him, but looking at his first two rankings of his first two recruiting classes, obviously that's not happening like he thought it would. I don't care who you send there, you could get Saben out of retirement and he's not going to be able to get Colorado into the top 5 in recruiting, or win national championships.
I'm never going to wish bad for a young, little brother. I hope all of this has taught him a lesson that he's got to put the work in. No human is perfect and we all make mistakes but you have to remain focused and keep your goals in front of you. Go look at the video on Keon Coleman and let his story be an inspiration for you especially now that literally the whole world of footballs eyes will be watching you. Many of them are going to pray for your demise. Just remember your mom, sister, and supportive village is depending on you. I wish you well young man.
If you are going to report on a story, GIVE ALL the facts. He is coming on as a Preferred walk-on not a scholarship player. Florida has starters who will play before Cormani as he GAINS weight. No down side to UF if a Preferred walk-on doesn't pan out
It might be that he was so use to being the star that once he got to Colorado he couldn't handle not being the center of attention because it's pretty evident Deion has an inner circle and he wasn't let in upon arrival. . This episode at CU might have woken him up.
Well, good luck to him, all programs are the same . Do what you are supposed to do. Out work and out shine anyone that whats your position. Study film and you be great . Best of luck young man because you are not a kid . Handle your responsibilities. 🎉🎉🎉
You're exactly right! There's 2 different types of 5 stars. 1 type is they feel like because they're a 5 star, they're better than every one else and should automatically be a starter and don't need to work hard. The 2nd is the type that goes out there and gives 110% to prove why they are a 5 star and why they deserve to start.
I feel he’ll struggle even more in Florida. I’m not meaning this in a negative sense. I’m just saying that the SEC….all of the SEC will be more difficult for him. I hope he decides to show up and not make excuses. I’m wishing the best for him but he has to put the work in.
Sounds good for him mentally. I’m not gonna count him out because we’ve all made stupid, and probably worst, mistakes at his age. He’s closer to home and he has a fresh start which will help ALOT if he learned his lesson.
Congratulations young man you worked hard for that #7 now maybe you will get that #7 back and ball out. The #7 stand’s for completion. Hopefully this new place will make you feel and do better on and off the field.
Go Gators !!! We are the # 1 college Academically and Athletics in the Country !!!! Welcome to being GREAT Mr McClain !!!! Bama Jelly and UGAY Are jealous of UF and bitter that you are truly Flo-Grown
Matt I been watching your vidz ever since the cormani mcclain situation. And Bro All I can say is you speak straight faxz and I Agree with Every Point you say.
Don’t know if prime time even tried to coach him? Prime time hasn’t done a great job at coaching at Colorado look at the transfer portal players he recruited are leaving? Look at Nebraska a team that had less than average star players? It’s all how a coach coach’s? I’m telling you Colorado isn’t going to do any better then last year!
You must remember that Deion Sanders ran off about 50 players since he arrived. McClain was probably seeing the favoritism that was shown by coach prime to Travis Hunter. In my opinion, Sanders is not a great coach. He just cares about how he can win off of the athletes ability. McClain played fairly in the few games that he played in. I saw Travis Hunter get tore up in some games as well. The only reported problem with McClain is that he’s been late to some meetings and didn’t practice as hard as he should have. “Wow”. Calm down. He probably lost his motivation when he got bad vibes from coach prime. Listen to the players that transferred before this guy. They said the same thing about favoritism, selfishness and lack of accountability. In the game that McClain struggled in was the same game that the whole secondary struggled in. You can’t expect a freshman to be the best at his position as soon as he gets to play. The rest of the secondary was sophomores and juniors and they had college experience already. This guy will be productive in college. Deion Sanders was a great football player but as a coach he is not. He’s more of an opportunist whose success relies on the talent of the players. At Jackson state, he won a lot of games because his name brought a lot of talent and there was minimal competition. At Colorado this season he choked bad. And it was very evident that he didn’t understand how important it is to develop your offensive and defensive linemen. You have Travis Hunter starting both ways??? That alone shows how ignorant coach prime is as a college coach. He recruited all those small running backs that were all under 190 pounds then wonder why he struggled in short yardage. He let his sons go and do runway fashion shows while the rest of the team was held accountable to be on time to practice. I’m sorry but I’d rather have a firm coach that can use common sense and knowledge of the game and not show favoritism. When the lineman struggled, he got rid of them instead of tuned up the coaching. When his sons struggled he kept them in and starting. Now he’s chosen to play against a weaker schedule just so his sons can have better stats. Why not play in the SEC or another tough conference….
Here's something I figured out. Even the guys that left CU were looking to start. They all worked hard and showed up. He didn't even want to show up in CU he still got on the field and played bad. I don't see him changing that for billy in Florida with tougher competition. I'd rather see him go to a lesser tier school and probably start and ball out and prove himself
I understand that most of you grown men who follow Matt’s channel have never even been considered by ANY P5D1 school. With that being said, most of you are such FAN BOYS of Prime that yall don’t understand that other COACHES don’t take Prime seriously. Napier and his staff most likely feel like Cormani just struggled due to poor coaching, ANTICS and DADDY BALL. The UF staff is betting on themselves. Oh, and I played at FSU 98-02 so I’m by no means a Gators fan. Casual fans BELIEVE any and everything that Prime says.
I think this is his best shot. 1. Momma is close.2. Lack of interest from schools in portal was humbling. 3. He's going to have to prove himself and earn playing time. I guarantee Napier told him he has to earn it first. He's probably just happy he made it to a big program.
I really think he shouldn't go to school in Florida because it's to close to home and he's not mature enough to distance himself from the wrong type of company.
Hey @MattBeGreat what do u think about Cormani McClain being a walk on over at FL and all the crazy details about his walk-on contract ? When is that video coming out ?
You can’t blame Deion for him getting his butt burned at Colorado! Y’all need to understand some high school kid knows NOTHING about the game of D1 football.
hope this kid balls out. the deion effect works for and against players. deion made the issues more than public than any other coach would have. kid was a freshman, he made some mistakes but kids HAVE done worse and got less coverage and public scrutiny. say what u want, but it ain't over yet. saying if deion can't fix him no one can like wtf haha deion has a coaching style, it's not the best style for every player so let's not act like it is. give the kid another year or two
Y’all acting like he ain’t a red shirt, still fairly young, Florida has a wonderful strength and conditioning program on top of a 10/10 nutritionist and nutrition area for athletes(especially football) and let’s not forget wonderful DB coaches, if he do what is needed to be done both in the class and on the field he’s going to be a problem
I hope they work on his technique , cause he is so stiff as a corner , and I hope he is open to the coaching . You at an established football program , no excuses !
I think this works great for Florida. He was the #1 recruit at the position just last year. I think the reason why he was getting fried at Colorado was because for whatever reason he didn’t try and it’s hard to play college ball when you don’t try. He was humbled by what happened and hopefully that will encourage him to work hard, Florida probably has stipulations that will keep him there. If he doesn’t do that then wash your hands of him. It’s simple, plus if he turns it up it’s great for them
Take the time to think this through. One can make a prediction that a player will not succeed in a new situation, while also personally hoping that this player succeeds. These are not inherently contradictory positions.
It's not like it's a 53 man roster. There are over 115 players on college rosters so if he doesn't work out it's no sweat off Napier's back. Just tell the kid it's not going to work. Not much to lose
Florida added him as a preferred walk on with a chance to earn the scholarship down the road. This has no risk to the program and actually should motivate him
Where is the cold heart evidence of telling people he hided in bathroom to avoid training? Xavier smith never got a chance to play even they ask travis hunter played 120ish snaps per game. Why, it is not because Xavier is not any good, but just he was never allowed to get into sanders family. Is Cormani the same situation? No body knows what really happened.
