Maybe this is why whales live so long. When they deep dive, they subject their bodies to multiple atmospheres for extended periods of time. I wonder if scuba divers live longer than the rest of us?

Agree its been around for decides. 1) Used for divers who gets the bends. 2) Also a lot of hospital patients have been fed oxygen or put under oxygen tents.
The Wim Hof Method is almost the same protocol as you are describing , i bread , 7 round of power breathing , it consist of a 3 minutes of hyperventilation breathing with a pause of breathing of 4-5 minute retention .. ( this is one round ) 7 round of breading takes for about 1 hours .. every day or as you want .... you will feel like a God or almost ;-) ( Wim Hof as studies underway on Telomere ) this is real stuff
