I love how you actually hung out with the kid and talked to him. you could have just said hello and sent him on his way but I think it just shows that you are just a genuinely good guy Stan.. Keep it up man
Truely genuine Stan. Not many people would do what you did. You not only educated that kid today, you made his day and gave him an exclusive opportunity to brag about for quite some time. First class buddy💪💪
It was amazing to see stan let fan of the channel run a plow with his machine, dylan the look on your face was priceless when he asked ya to run it. I used to work for a company in kamloops bc canada 🇨🇦 ran equipment and wished we had a plow like this, would have made life easier.
This young man that came up to you I can tell has experience. His a go getter for sure. His enthusiasm is awesome. Just saying... maybe put him on board next season. These young bucks are hard to find now a days. I’m thankful I found one...
Tell me about it dads ready to retire im taking over our business i can't find anyone that wants to work at all im getting all the sob stories they last a week if that i need an employee like dylan
I’ve been in the business for 34 years. I worked with my Dad through high school, My Dad started the business in1984, lawn and landscaping. Both of us were certified in turf pesticides for NYS. I keep my certification going.. I tried the college thing. It was night school at MCC. I was 18 years old. My last class would end around 10:00pm. We’re talking 1986. During the day before class we cut, split.and delivered firewood on the off season. I was green on plowing snow. Just my back story. 1989, five plow trucks. Mostly commercial, 40 or so driveways. Ya call the drivers in at 1:45am. Two of the drivers were a no show. Back to that young man that showed up to say hi and ran your equipment. That’s priceless. All of jobs are south, and, east of Rochester NY. I love your Channel. Donnie Meisenzahl
Glad to see Stan take the time out of his (work)day to talk to Dylan. Love to see real people out there with a camera instead of acting one way and filming another. Great video Stanley. Keep up the good work.
Stan & Sam- Great video... guess the extra time on the fittings was for a good reason, as you guys got to meet Dylan. I think more than anything, a friendship was made. I can tell you from experience that having friends with the right attitude and resources is beneficial for both sides. Dylan, by the number of positive comments, you've impressed a BUNCH of us on here... and Stan, as usual, you've proven (again) what a class act you are. God Bless and Go Get 'Em!
That was awesome! Credit to the kid for hopping right in and running that thing. It’s gotta be different when you know 500,000 plus subscribers are gonna watch!
Man that was awesome of you to not only acknowledge the guy stopping and talk to him a bit, but then let him run the machine, get him involved and take him for lunch. The more I watch this channel the more I feel like you’re a genuinely good guy
The Sectional plow would be absolutely dynamic for pavements which have a crown. It looks amazing how well it scrapes! Thanks bunches Stan and Sam! 🙏 For all for a healthy, safe and prosperous year!
There used to be a thread sealer for hydraulic fittings that was a red liquid called a anaerobic sealer we used on ships. You put it on similar to locktite, but it was a sealer instead of thread lock. Have a great day.
Anaerobic sealer is red and it is recommended sealant on the supercharger connection on a 89-97 thunderbird sc (aluminum to aluminum connections). I have some sitting on my tool box.
You're probably thinking of Loctite 510. I use it on flange style fittings with a gasket as well. I've never used it on hydraulic fittings. For hydraulic fittings I've always used Loctite 545, 5452, or 567.
@@AndyFromm I was using it in the early to late eighties, wasn't sure if it was still around, we put it on hydraulic fittings in the shipyards and later on I used it in construction equipment repairs.
DUDE, I hope you got that kid's contact info. He'd make an awesome employee. He jumped in and started kicking butt and taking names. Awesome, Awesome, Awesome!
The view on the blade that shows how this plow works is awesome! Great video, and even more great that this young fella came in all cowboy and got to try it out!!
I have a tip that will make connecting your hydraulic fittings a little easier. Grab a can of carburetor cleaner and spray on the ends. It'll clean everything off and it dries very quickly. I've used this on the farm for years and won't go back. Hope this helps in your area too. 👍
Guys....I don't envy you up there in the frosty north! We've got snow on the ground here in NC....keeping my livestock watered has been a huge challenge lol.....Can't imagine what a challenge it would be up in the great white north!
Say what you will. The fact that you were willing to let a random kid run your equipment after talking to him for a couple of minutes was really cool. Sure he said he knew what he was doing but it was still a gamble. The cherry on top of sundae was when you asked if he had time to let you take him to lunch. Stanley, you are a true gentleman and I hope that you never change. I wish more people were like you.
Nice to see a young guy with so much humility , Great guy and good for Stan to talk to the guy in a nice easy manner, i would employ him in a heartbeat
Stan you realize the 3 hours messing around with fittings was just ment for you to meet that fan. Timing. At least thats how I look at such things the past few years. Thanks for all the work you do you inspire others to do great things
I used to manage a hydraulic hose and fitting store and have replaced tons of that type of hydraulic quick connect. I am betting some of your leak problems is that the hydraulic hose end is not female pipe thread and your adaptor between the hose and quick connect looks like male pipe thread on both ends. You may want to check that out.
You talked me into Wolfpaws in one of your videos a couple years back.. Bit the bullet for last season. Wore them out inside of 1 season. This year running 235/85R16 Toyo M55's. Yes radials. I will never go back to regular skid steer tires pushing snow. The wolf paws were great but hard to source in my area. These TOYO M55 radials have been bullet proof. (used to sell hundreds of them in my tire jockey days). I run a 10,200lb 97HP skiddy pushing a HLA 8'/13' snow wing. Ice is still ice and can be tricky. Until last season, I had NEVER stalled my machine pushing snow. Now it's a regular occurrence to run out of power rather then the typical spinning out. Appreciate all of your candid feed back and honest opinions.
I saw a video where he showed i think it was manitou skid steers where they have hydraulic track tensioning system and he said he was gonna try it out so i think we will see a video on it soon
I love my plow on my skid, Its awesome for tight areas, I can sweep in angle plow and scoop snow out of super tight areas, no back dragging and floating over snow. The plow digs right in and scrapes down wile scooping snow out of the area needed, plus if I need to I can still wind row snow as a regular plow would do on a truck. By far id rather have a plow on a skid steer than a box blade.
What a great video that's really cool and humble to let a fan in on the video number one and then to let him run your machine, great job as usual, God bless
coming from a plumber theres special stuff called leak lock we dont use it because it works too good and wont let anything leak put some of that in your truck and i promise you if theres an emergency that stuff will last a life time also big fan. Keep working hard !
Alright while I concede the artic has great scraping ability but cmon. You’re comparing a box pusher with a solid cutting edge to a straight plow with the sectional Moldboard and blade. SnowWolf created the ActivEdge AND the flexFrame that drastically improved scraping over the standard cutting edge. Good stuff though. Thanks for sharing.
I was just telling my wife that while watching this…the kid had the straight edge, which is the cheapest option. You dnt get the activedge, unless you have the AR400 or carbide edges. Thats why they were wearing out the edges so quick.
yes, nice to see a plow on a skidsteer. pushboxes for bulk work, skidsteer plow in tandem with plow trucks for detail work. We took a retired Western Unimount, a blank quiktack plate some hydraulic fittings and made our own skidsteer plow
that was a great video! I really liked Dillon! that was cool of him and you to be able to have him jump in a new machine and give a new opinion! He also did really well in front of the camera!
I’m not a snow plower or landscaper but for some reason i still live to watch you videos. It must be because of your drive and online personality Stan. Plus i enjoy your equipment tests. Also im a fellow Minnesotan. Keep making great content
Think that was awesome letting a fan/ fellow plower try out your rig and get his feedback, good fly by the seat of your pants change up on your plans. Stay safe and God bless.
Dude, you’re a class act. I was just thinking as I watched this “If I saw the black beauty running should I stop by?” Good on Dylan to stop in and give his thoughts. Wish I had an arctic plow
I found that out years ago. A plumber once told me thread tape is to lube the threads, pipe dope seals them. I have done a lot of propane and gas plumbing over the years and when I went to using pipe dope leaks went away.
@@Chris_at_Home correct. It acts as a lubricant to allow for deeper seating of threads and that’s what actually keeps leaks from happening. It also keeps it from seizing therefore making it easier to take off.
Dude Stanley, your cool as f@ck. That fact that you let some random subscriber use your skid steer and were more then willing to take the time to stop and talk... Dude that was awesome 💯💯💯
Stanley you guys are awesome. I absolutely love your videos brother. That young man Dylan looked like a kid in a candy store running your skidsteer. I wish we had a guy like him on our crew when I was out working. I'll say it again, I would pay you guys to let mec come out and run one storm with you. God bless brother I'll see you on your next video.
Plumbers tape and/or pipe dope would 100% work and be safe to use, as that fitting is exactly the same as some water fittings. I would just keep it at least 3 threads away from the end so it can't break off and get into your lines. (Some people are extra cautious and use both together on every fitting) Love seeing the guy stop and be ecstatic about working with you guys for a day. He looked to be doing pretty well on the machine too.
How awesome of you to accept that guy to come up to you, chat and then offer him a trial run in one of your machines followed up with taking him out to some lunch! So cool and obviously that kid has some skill with machines!
I've been a mechanic for a public works department for 35 years, Permatex Hydraulic and Pneumatic thread sealant works great. Some Brake parts cleaner to get the crap out of the fittings
At the 17:00 mark, I'm dying laughing because I said to myself, "Stan has put this fan to work!" Great upload!! Ps... And Dylan, the fan, did a great job!!
It is Teflon. There isn't anything you're going to be running through pipes that will degrade it in any way, and def not petrochemicals. We use Teflon in the lab for that very reason. The difference in color is the density of the tape.
One question for you.. dont want to get in your business.... skid steers turn on a dime, why back up like a truck... cut your time plowing and run the plow each direction while windrowing the snow. Clean it up at the end of each section..... I run a Quattro plow(love my plow) on a T650 here in Northern Colorado and can move almost twice as fast on a parking lot cutting in the islands curbs and stacking snow than a truck(also been running a skid for the last 26 years so its second nature working thru a parking lot)... keep pumping out great video's👍👍🤙🤙
I think it is a Manitou that he is testing. He had a look at it a couple of videos back. I think it was when he picked up the broom for the mini loader.
Awesome video as always. A mechanic told me he switched out all his hyd fittings to an agricultural style fitting. Occasionally has more leaks but replacements are about 1/10th the price.
Outstanding video. Makes me wish I could work again every time I watch your videos. Your crew seems like they really care about what they do and how they do it.
It would be interesting to see how well this plow would do on that old account you made a video of a week ago (this one ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Wk-8OROABmg.html ), I suspect it would work quite nicely there. Maybe make a comparison video ?
Mr Genadek, I live to your West in North Dakota. Have you ever thought about applying a Spray Wax to the Glass of your Pick Up Trucks and Off Road Equipment you use for winter plowing? Like; Lucas Slick Mist Speed Wax or 303 Touchless Sealant. I've used these type products for over 20 years, in the summer barely ever use the windshield wipers. Water just flies off glass. Helps clean off the side glass as well. In the cold weather it helps not needing the wipers as much either. Lucas real cheap at Menards here is $7.50 a bottle, 303 can only find locally at auto parts stores for $15/$16 a bottle. 303 should be applied by having the glass wet, it says to just Spray on but I wipe it onto full glass then activate with water pressure (hose or washer), sure you could apply like Lucas by spraying on glass and wiping in then buffing right off. The water beads from 303 are lot tinier and run off faster. Also, I not a business person but why don't you run Winter Rated; Mountain/Snowflake Tires on your pickup trucks, they'd get around way safer from location to location and during active plowing they'd not slide as much. I know the cost is more but all weather all terrains like the Falken Wildpeak AT3s are year round winter tires with siping and better compound rubber that stays plyable in the sub-zero temps that turns normal tires to hockey pucks. Just trying to help.
Great video! One of my favorites so far! Love seeing another fan stop by to say hello and get a chance to plow with you. Never happen to me here in Boise, ID. No snow.
Stanley, I don't know what sort of power is running through those overhead cables but here in the UK directly under the huge steel high tension power lines you can put one end of a fluorescent tube into the ground and there is that much static in the air that they light up!
Hey Stan I work with a co that does a lot of heavy equipment repairs we use plumbers tape and plumbers putty doing hydraulic lines and fittings never had a problem I’ve been with this company for about 14 years now and that’s all we use we have updated to the newer hydraulic coupling that we call temp fitting that seal themselves but on the older equipment we use tape and Putty. Have a good one stay safe
