If they get Sprong he needs to play in top 6. Back to back 20 goal years with only 60-70 times played each year with a shitty team . And he’s young he can be a 30 goal scorer in Toronto playing with nylander and Tavares on 2 line
I think Marner and Domi should be the linemates of Matthews. Put Knies on the 3rd or 4th line for now. Knies dominated the other teams by himself when playing with and against 4th liners. As for 1st line. Marner and Matthews makes sense, and Domi not only has the playmaking for Matthews, but will go int othe corners to get the puck and pick fights. Dude is like Bunting but with a bit of Marner playmaking.
D Kubalick left/right wing, 28 years, 6'2, 2-way and hockey sense, 15% sh%, 20 g 20 asst average, NHL regular, [ On 15 July 2020, Kubalík was named a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy (alongside Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar), which is awarded to the league's best first-year player. He was named to the NHL's All-Rookie Team. The Blackhawks met the Edmonton Oilers in the 2020 Qualifying Round.[14] In Game 1 of the series, Kubalík recorded 2 goals and 3 assists in a 6-4 win. His 5 points were the most scored in an NHL postseason debut in league history]
It's hilarious, everyone craping on Simmons and he's already been proven right. All he reported was that *SOME* people in Dallas were concerned about Hakanpaa's ability to play again. He didn't say he wouldn't play again. Just look at what Dallas gave Lybushkin as his replacement compared to what the Leafs apparently will get Hakanpaa for.
I think youre right. Theyre not picking up Hakanpaa for an 82 game season. Theyre picking him up for the potential 28 game playoffs. Theres a reason theyve kept Timmins. Theyre 2 different stlye players. When you need a little bit more muscle on the blueline against a bigger team like boston usually is , you play Hakanpaa when you want more puck moving and otentially little more transition and speed against smaller teams like MTL , you lay Timmins. The leafs are setup right now for a 900k forward. which I believe is around what they offered roberson. after that add. They can still carry both Benoit and Hakanaa and Timmins on the roster. which is good because the leafs dont have very many defencmen in the minors they can just call upp and that can play in the NHL well. but they do have extra forwards like Cowan and Minten who could robably play in the NHL execially minten.
@@johnsummerhill8323 That's what I thought last year about Cowan, then he impressed me & obviously the Leafs in dev camp, Traverse City & was the last cut at main camp. He'd just turned 18 before the draft. He then took a huge step up in the 'O' winning league MVP, playoff MVP & top scorer at the Mem Cup. He's way closer than 2-3 years out. If not this year, then next year unless he regresses, which I doubt. Minten is very likely a Marlie for his 1st year as a pro & is likely not going back to junior. Wickenheiser at dev camp said this about Cowan "he's very close to making the Leafs". No disrespect, but her opinion carries more weight than yours.
@@bigdave8437 Quite honestly, they all say that. You don't want to discourage the kid. All I am saying is that he will spend this next year in junior, next year likely with the Marlies then we will see how things are by the time he is 21. To rush a player to the NHL before he is ready in all aspects, can really hurt his career.
Still don't make sense. The leaf medical staff cleared Matt Murray and John Klingberg. Look how they turned out. Maybe they need to sign some new medical staff...
Both Matt Murray and John Klingberg played for the Leafs, it's not like they were signed and never played a game. It says more about the front office's willingness to take a risk signing players with extensive injury histories.
@@randychase305 exactly. If they are clearing a guy whos knee is bone on bone they must be under some kind if pressure to do it. Murray and Klingberg were in better medical condition and it didnt work out. I hope it does work out. After watching them lose for 50 years, I dont invest too much emotion into them.
Using the same logic many Leaf fans are using regarding Robertson Alexander Nylanders numbers look awfully good. Robertson 14 goals in 58 games Nylander 11 in 28. But I'd rather have Sprong for the playoffs.
I think Leafs are on a size mission, Sprong would fit and he has a abrasive edge.More size is better. As for Robertson, he looked ok when he played last season but i have never been a fan of his, i think the best for him and the Leafs is move him, perhaps to a team on a rebuild where he could play every game could use a guy like that and get some good use from him
Sprong is the best forward left now that taresenko is gone . I didn’t realize he scored 18 goals last year and over 40 points in 75 games . Last year he scored over 20 and almost 50 points in only 65 games as well on a shitty red wings team . He’s also 27 years old , he can score 30+ on leafs if he gets played on top 6 . He’s reasonably cheap too I bet you can get him for $3 mill maybe $4 at most . If leafs get rid of liligren $3 mill that will clear enough to sign him.
There is no cap room to sign any forwards of any use. With this Golf 4 still together and contracts even got worse there is 0 chance of a TML cup this year so who cares unless Marner or Tavares goes away soon!
He had a good year last year. He would be league min signing, and could compete.for a roster spot. Playing with his brother might help to maximize his potential.
Leafs will use the LTIR. Dallas paid twice as much for Lyabushkin who Isn’t as good as Hannkinpa so it shows something is up. The Stars knew about the injury .
It would be completely ludicrous for the Leafs to sign Klingberg knowing he couldn't play. Opps it's the Leafs. They know he may not play..so what? He is 7th dman.
I think having Alex would be a win win for the leafs and willy, I know when I played in college my younger brother came on a year later I definitely felt happier put up allot more points and was more comfortable and just had more fun out there knowing he was there with me
