This is why going fast isn't for everyone. It has to be in your blood to go fast because it a lot of work. To have friends who share your passion is what it's all about. You have a close group of 4 or 5 fast buddies who help one another out and a huge group of fans who wish you the best. Keep doing what your doing.

That is for sure, that is why we are not big turbo on Everything we own, yet..LOL. Looks like you know the addiction. We get a lot of comments like, these things break a lot don't they, and its really just because we break them, otherwise not so much. Yes the camaraderie is what it is all about. Plus, how would you know you are fast..LOL. Thank you so much, and we will keep on doing it. we love it, and love sharing it, we learn something new almost everyday from those of you that comment.

Hey guys, I run e85 in my big turbo Can Am. From what I was told is to: 1) make sure to have a catch can before running e85 & drain the catch can after every ride. 2) If you were changing the oil at 50-100 hr intervals before e85, you will now need to change it around 25-30hr intervals. 3) Add e85 and have fun! 😁

Yeah I do believe if those precautions had been taken this car would have probably been fine. I know a lot of people are running e85. Good advise, thanks

I do the same. Drain my catch can after every ride and frequently change my oil. After glamis season I go back to 91. 91 definitely helps clean the entire fuel system and motor.

That's a good idea we'll have to try that one

From what i heard this is a common issue for the Can-am's when turning the power up. The plastic gears just can't keep up, i know some one was developing aftermarket gears possibly made of a metal or aluminum for the Big HP Applications.
@DandiOffroad
@DandiOffroad 3 года назад
Not sure, we probably know 10 plus people with tuned cars and this is the first I have seen of this issue. There are a few companies working on them.. $$$$ ridiculously over priced.

@@DandiOffroad So I'm guess in its 1 out of 10 that have this issue "Just some humor" lol Must be mostly the BIG Turbo high HP guys. I have seen this issue come across multiple Instagram feeds and 1 i know personally. I'm sure these company's take advantage of the "Its cheaper then a new motor" sales pitch.
@DandiOffroad
@DandiOffroad 3 года назад
LOL, definitely one out of 10 lol. I was being conservative with 10 but I get your point. I may not be in the loop I don't watch the forms I just don't have the time. But we probably do know 30 people with Can-Am's and it's the first we've heard of it. Of course not all of them tuned. Correct cheaper than a new motor that is for sure. And if you don't catch this issue in time you definitely will be replacing that motor. I did notice when we put up a video of the issues we've had with our RZR we had tons of people with feedback people with similar issues, on these videos, not

@@DandiOffroad Yea i stay away from the forums also, just because its mostly bashing back and forth and hardly any useful information. lol I'm running a Turbo S Polaris but I'm usually the "Mechanic" for my other buddies that ride can-am's. But from what I've learned is that the x3's use a pressure switch so as long as it shows the minimal pressure required by the switch (9psi) it doesn't throw a light. even though your car might need more then that when your pushing it hard or big rpm spikes. it just takes a moment of no oil at a High rpm to do some damage. In the Race trucks we run a oil pressure gauge so you know what exactly what its doing and be able to catch it in time and shut it down they might have a kit out there already for the X3's.

I don’t believe turning up the power should effect these gears as the rpms aren’t any different and engine temperature shouldn’t be any higher assuming afr are good. That said the gears look to be either too hot or chemically damaged. It will be interesting to see if the E85 or chemical damage the test gears. Knowing how bad E85 is on other parts of the engine I hope it’s that as the solution is know and easy. Catch can and frequent oil changes
@cboutdoorfun9955

I wish the blog boys would get some videos out about their recent engine failures. I believe they lost 4 (2 can am 2 Polaris) in a month all on e85. They also admitted they should be doing more oil changes. It would be interesting to see what failed on theirs particularly the x3’s to compare to this
@DandiOffroad
@DandiOffroad 3 года назад
They did discuss some e85 buildup in some of the intake somewhat not. But not very in depth information as of yet. But those guys really push the hell out of their cars way beyond what we were doing

I have been on e85 with my x3 for 3 years. Oil changes and catch cans are key. When I do an oil change I can smell the e85 in it. As for the blog guys, I am not sure their X3 engine failures were related to e85. Rick's car was running a lot of boost for stock pistons and had a ring land break. That seems pretty common when stock pistons are pushed too hard. I don't remember what happened to the xrsds. There are now billet gears out there that can fix this plastic gear issue.
@DandiOffroad
@DandiOffroad 3 года назад
Agreed, even running 100 octane with high boost oil should be changed often as there is additional blow by. Yeah who knows with those guys they're pushing their machines pretty hard.

You will see nothing in your test. It's crap quality plastic gears and heat. Has nothing to do with e85. Good luck with everything
