Celebrini, Smith, Musty, Dickinson, Mukhamadullin, Halttunen, Bystedt, Askarov, Chernyshov, Graf, Cardwell, Cagnoni Not to mention Bordeleau and oh yeah, Eklund and Zetterlund... Let's also not forget deep in the pool players like Havelid, Wetsch, Lund, and Kirsch So many good prospects in the system.

Grier has put on a clinic for GMs to see how you turn around a franchise in 2 seasons. Kudos to him for getting a 1C, 1D and a franchise goalie inside of 3 months😮 To think the Sharks have a real shot at getting another top prospect coming in June. On top of the returns for all the pending UFAs. Future is blinding bright in SJ

@@djjasenc in 2 years he took a pathetic roster with aging overpaid vets on long term contracts and no cap room or prospect pool, moved the old vets for whatever he could get (and to reasonable situations for their careers) opened up tons of cap space, rebuilt the prospect pool into arguably the best in hockey (or top 3 at worst) Signed a bunch of smart depth pieces and have our future set up well! And while we are all excited we have to be patient with these guys! From what I can see I still think Grier has the plan for us to be not good in 24/25 (better but not good) think the real plan is to make the major moves up the charts starting in 25/26.

Still an issue I am afraid...because the over dramatic style, 10/10 time ending up in split without rebound recovery options is a reason Wedgewood was chosen instead.

@@coldstiil Wedgwood was chosen cause he is a vet and Trotz has any huge on rookies and young guys. We got lucky here and landed a top caliber goalie Nabokov can work with and mentor and that guy fits sooooo perfectly in with our prospect pool and window

Yeah agreed. And Edstrom looked like a good piece too. But we had to give up something, it's not often a top goalie prospect becomes available. Still feels like we easily won this trade

I LOVE the fact that he’s a switch-handed goalie too… catches with his right… it messes shooters up just for a millisecond when they’re so used to 99% of goalies catching with their left hand. As a shooter, you have to mirror-reverse all your normal dekes and shots that work the best on most goalies that catch left. Love that small detail about this guy too!

Nice call JD, your last podcast! I think there’s potential in Edstrom… but at least it wasn’t Musty. I think we have immediate depth at G where Edstrom is/was a 3rd/4th option. I think we’re turning the ship around to compete mode immediately, bout time in Sharks land….

Even if he doesn't live up to his draft hype or disappears. This is still a win for Grier in the sense of going after a clear weak spot in the prospect system. *Fortune often favours the bold* I am not a Sharks fan but I have a lot of stock in Askarov in my fantasy dynasty leagues. When rumour he was on the block originally. I said S.J should go hard after him. It will interesting where they are at in 3 years. I definitley dont agree Sharks instantly have the best prospect system but they moved way up into the top 5 for sure.

How can you know after he's only played only 3 NHL games ( with a GREAT Nashville defensive squad), just how good he's is going to be? Oh wait he did put in 20+ KHL games too! Get a grip fellas! Hey, you could be right and he could turn out to be another "Dominator" but then again he may NOT! Just take it slow and remain optomistic until he proves himself just a little bit.

And the KHL has drastically declined in quality. Fedotov was one of the best goalies in the KHL, and looked unplayably bad for the Flyers last year.

@@TheLilLeeroy this is not comparable at all. Fedetov is a 27 year old and a former 7th round pick. Askarov is a former 11th overall pick who started playing in the KHL at 17. The ceiling is SO MUCH HIGHER.
