Congrats to Bruce, our latest recruit to pass his Initiation Test into the Cave of Adullam Transformational Training Academy. We decided to share this part of his Initiation Test to encourage all of you to not only allow your sons to cry when facing emotional stress, but more importantly, patiently walk them through it.

This is the kind of father figure I wish I had. I'm still learning this lesson at 20. I've dealt with severe anxiety and depression my whole life. I've dealt with l low self esteem my whole life. When I was at college, away from home, stepping into an MMA gym was what saved my life.
@jeffreysmith236
@jeffreysmith236 2 года назад
Here is a lesson I learned one week ago brother. Most habitual anxiety comes from fast mouth breathing. Seriously. This has helped me immensely. Shut your mouth. Inhale through your nose. SLOWLY. About six second controlled inhale, six second controlled exhale, five breaths a minute for 10 minutes. And set a timer and repeat every night as you lay down to sleep. And tape your lips closed before you go to bed. Train yourself to breathe through you nose. Like we were designed to do. Most of your anxiety will vanish as you activate your parasympathetic nervous system which calms and relaxes you. Breathe hard and fast to activate your sympathetic nervous system which is for fight or flight. Hard and fast, still through your nose, depletes CO2 raising the ph of your blood, and that makes hemoglobin grip tight to oxygen. Breathing slow and holding your breath lowers ph resulting in greater release of oxygen from hemoglobin. That desperate need to breathe is not from lack of oxygen but a buildup of CO2, and that can be trained so you handle it longer. A Russian doctor back during WWII figured out that the most effective treatment for an asthma attack is to breathe slower and softer through the nose, asthma is literally a panic attack. That doc won great acclaim in the USSR. And very few Americans know about him.

The breathing is critical because it is responsible for the oxygen uniformity in the body. The way the body receives and deals with oxygen affects the mind. Why do they say take a deep breathe? For that reason. The brain needs a suffiecient amount of oxygen to relax.
@jeffreysmith236
@jeffreysmith236 2 года назад
@@thesherlockhokage3046 blood pH controls oxygen release from hemoglobin. So exhale twice as long as inhale and blood oxygen will hit 100 percent within 90 seconds. Carbon dioxide is the control. Breathe short and fast and pH rises due to to little carbon dioxide, and you will activate your sympathetic nervous system, fight or flight, and you will feel anxious and on edge and can experience a panic attack, all self induced. Breathe slowly through your nose, exhale twice as long as inhale, and activate parasympathetic nervous system and calm down. Which changes how you stand and walk and think.

God bless this man. Edit: fuck the arguing in the replies. The real focus is the mentor here. Regardless of whatever was actually said, the way this mentor interacted with this young man will turn him into a goddamn superhero, full of love and respect for others. Whether it’s about anxiety or anger or depression, we need more men like Jason who will explain to young men the importance of expressing themselves healthily so as to process the emotion. Female and male should be seperate at times because eachother are in fact a distraction for each other. Though its odd that they are only black. I like that he believes in Jesus Christ almighty. He is something Great this Man. But im hispanic male personally i wouldnt care about the race of the person. Its based on how everyones raised. I can be volatile sometimes when i cry. Or simply still when im criying or simply sit still when im angry. We as human men need to be the most disciplined because We will All face events far uglier than other humans and nuclear war although when we kill each other its already ugly. I dont like feeling volatile because i feel malevolence and thanks to Jordan Peterson and experience. I realized THAT WE ARE ALL! Capable of evil and good. Even a quadrupled amputee is capable even if the damage is small. It doesnt matter. Regulate our emotions yes.
@danieltenebrion9413
@danieltenebrion9413 2 года назад
@@IsraelCountryCube I totally agree. I even agree on that there indeed is a bit of distraction between genders based on natural attraction, but that is something that can be regulated and has to be regulated in society anyways. So I don't think it HAS to be that way. Often natural attraction doesn't have as strong of an impact on smaller children either and the only differences are generally based on the society in which you live in. I would argue that women should be more encouraged to be tougher or masculine and even men should be more encouraged to be more feminine and open with emotions. I don't think those things should subtract from what it means to be a "Man" or being a "Woman" either. And it can be a bit unhealthy when a Man feels like he should never feel or display emotions while a Woman might depend too much on her emotions and the sympathy of others. These are more often than not subconscious roles that we adapt to but don't necessarily have to hold onto. I mean, if gender roles of only Man or Woman were entirely biological from birth or were not meant to be flexible then Gays, Bisexuals, Intersex and Transexuals would not exist, but they have existed all throughout time and history. I'm not advocating one way or the other to live your life by the way, just discussing what I believe I am observing as a reality.

From your comment, I can tell you are skilled enough with the English language to make something worth reading. Try not to see your emotional trauma as a hindrance. I can relate to the boy. Life punched me in the face every day but I still kept going. Why? Because my parents are amazing people. I came to the US as a kid without knowing any English. I lost my friends and belongings and had to start over. I had to learn a new language from the ground up. Then I had to be the first in the family to graduate from high school. I did it. Then as I was trying to be the first to graduate from College I got heart failure. I had to stop my College plans and go to the hospital for treatment. I went through an artificial heart implant and a heart transplant. If it wasn't for my family I wouldn't have survived these major surgeries. Today I'm going back to school and finishing up College, hopefully, without complications. Always love your family because they're the ones that will always carry you when you're down and show you how to carry yourself and your kids later in life.

(That being said, I lean much more towards your perspective of not having shoving it in to scenarios where it is irrelevant. The application of race in benign situations while ignoring the ways working class people, who are disproportionatly black and brown, continue to quietly get fucked over drives me insane. So I'm not trying to deny that race is relevant in general as a caveat for other commenters.)

@@subratadhar7698 you know why he said it? To pander... To try to do exactly what this Sensai did and label himself by his color... Rather than more important things... That's the problem with our country.

Every child, regardless of race, creed or social condition, needs a good father and a good teacher committed to sharing the best inheritance of life for our children: Loving God above all things, loving our neighbor as ourselves and to be strong and courageous in Christ to break every board that comes our way.

I was in tears watching that young man overcome his challenge and conquer his fears. You taught us all that were watching that we too can shatter those emotional barriers. Props to Jason, Bruce and his father. I'll be showing this to my boys in a few years when they are old enough to understand this. "Ego fears the truth"

This is how we should be raising our sons as a society. None of that "man up", "grow some balls" BS that contributes to violence and shames young men for experiencing emotion, which is a normal HUMAN experience that is irrespective of gender.

"This is how we should be raising our sons as a society. None of that "man up", "grow some balls" BS" ... as a comment to a video showing exactly that :/ This video tells you the REASON why you should "man up", and how/when to do it. Do not miss the message simply because it is whispered instead of being shouted.

The entire point of this lesson IS TO MAN UP as you decide to call it.. It’s just worded differently and relayed in a different way than what you expected... The problem with people like yourself is you see things how you want to see it and don’t listen, which, ironically, is the NUMBER ONE reason for violence and shaming of young men...

I think Snooby's point is that "manning up" isn't choking back your emotions and trying to be a hardass, it's being real with yourself and committing to responsibility and perseverance.

You've paid no attention, huh? If I was to merge any religion into martial arts, the "present your other cheek" one would be my last choice. Not that that's what happened here. What happened here was a sermon with a thin covering of martial arts aesthetics.

I wish I had a guy like this in my life when I was a kid. It was always engraved in my life from a young age that men don’t cry. Men do cry and it’s normal. The worst thing for a young man growing up is to bottle up your emotions. It only makes things worse and later in life you are prone to let that bottle explode.

This man deserves to be recognized. I have broken this video out for my boys over the years as they continue grow up. I hate the as a people, the spend more time trying to convince men they can't cry. Everyone cries, but sometimes you have to have your cry after you've made it thru our at the very least given it your all. Absolutely love this man and if i lived anywhere near this school bet your bottom my kids would be enrolled

My master pretty much raised me from when I was 4 years old so this gets me a little emotional, but when I cried after another kid gut punched me he just gave me a death stare from behind his glasses and said "If you cry you leave" and would grab me by the ear for like 20 minutes if I came in before him and started teaching his adult students.
