Humanity has fled the devastated surface to the underground where the upper classes inhabit higher levels with better air. Ryu is a low level citizen who rebels against the government to save the life of Nina, who cannot survive underground due to experimental surgery to convert her into an air purification machine.

Lembro que na época eu me esforcei para finalizar o jogo na primeira run só utilizando a transformação nas batalhas obrigatórias. Deixa o jogo mais desafiador. Ele é muito underrated.

D-Mode Bosch boss fight is the only time where D-Mode is mandatory, provided that you don’t have your d-counter close to 100% or else you’ll die.

11:43 I always thought this was the coolest part in the entire final battle. I originally thought this looked like a Kamaehamaeha but since this is Capcom, I would say it is a nice red Hadoken ☺️

I know Nina is often seen as Ryu’s love interest, but in this game I ship him with Lin, with Nina being their child of sorts.

10:24 While too much of this game wasn't Breath of Fire at all, this moment still deserves praise. Ryu knew there was only one option left. He knew it would mean dying today. But his friends would have a tomorrow. That gave him the right to stand alongside the previous incarnations of Ryu. A true dragon to the core.

I breath of fired with a d counter of 88.67% and I died so I have to SOL restore.

Yeah the d counter system kinda annyoing, you had to preserve it for the last bosses because they can easily kill you 🤣

I like the d-counter, gives the player a sense of dread and anxiety and a great way to balance the dragon form. Also the game is short, so replaying isn't so bad. The game is kind like a arcade version of an jrpg. Difficult from the beginning to end, Branching paths w/ D-ratio, NG+ and SOL system, combo system in combat, AOEs, knockbacks, limited saves, traps etc. I think it's one of the best turn-based rpgs I've played. Only thing change I'd make is limiting item usage on each turn.
