I went to their store in NYC. Honestly best customer service at a watch boutique I have ever had. Lots of unique watches, they are definitely doing their own thing.
Great review as always. They have another version of this with an antiqued lume without the blue that I want. It reminds me of the Squale tropical that you reviewed years back that I went out and bought right after your review.
I want to like Bremont for their story and being British based - but no, not for me at this time. I try them on and look at various models at my local AD - but their aesthetics don't speak to me - and definitely not for the price points. But I hope they have much success!
It looks more like a tool than an everyday watch. Super chunky this one is. I like Bremont's designs in general, but I'm not sure a watch with an ETA based movement, even modified, is worth the price they ask. I do appreciate the integrated Helium escape valve though, unlike the sea master pro 300.
Weirdly thick. Weird lug width. One way bezel (I'm betting it's a stupid 120 or 60 click on a GMT?). No travellers GMT. Stupid helium valve on a GMT .Seems way overpriced.
Always had a quiet respect for Bremont. Maybe it's just because I'm a Brit. I'd never buy one though. Just can't stomach the depreciation as a serial flipper.
For the price it should at the very least be a true GMT and have a bidirectional bezel. They could lose a few mil on the thickness. No one is professionally diving with this watch.
They are a niche British watch brand and have a cult-like following, particularly over in Blighty. The founders are revered in watch circles and Bremont have raked in international awards since its founding in the 90s. I found Bremont a puzzling brand until I actually held one in hand. The quality is then obvious, similar in feel to Breitling, for example. I liked the quirkiness of their watches (akin to Christopher Ward before they went mainstream), but they are far beyond my affordability in any case. The Broadsword, in particular, is a gorgeous watch.
