Well, *Minneapolis, Minnesota,* and *Beverly Hills, California,* are about the same distance apart as *London, England,* and *Istanbul, Turkey,* are to each other. Around 2,000 miles (3,219 km). And that includes the *Netherlands,* *Germany,* *Austria,* *Hungary,* *Romania,* and *Bulgaria* in between.
Yes, very mean and shallow! I never got why in american movies or series people being friends with a person because that person is cute! I hope that's some weird thing that just happens on tv!
@@vervideosgiros1156 I hope so too. On the other hand: it is a early 90's serie, nowadays they wouldn't even dare to show this kind of bodyshaming... But it really did upset me a bit. Maybe it was not becaus the girl was chubby or poorly dressed (classism), but because she was mean or a bully? But then again: There is no way the audience could know. Well, as I said, this show is from the early 90s and nowadays series are more respectfull.
@@Spinnradler It isn't just the fact that they show a chubby girl as something to mock, but the fact that they find it ok or "normal" for a person to not want to make friends with another person because she's fat! It's desrespectul, as you said and of course it's what's more serious, but besides that, it's pretty stupid and shallow! What's the purpose on choosing someone to be your friend because of Beauty or because you're fit? Like if a person was a decorative piece to be pleasurable for the eyes!🥺
Brandon: "I was the Sports Editor at my old paper" Andrea: "Do you want to cover the sports story or the toxic waste story?" Brandon: "Sports story" Never understood why Andrea got mad at this; Brandon was a sports writer. Perhaps the "alternative" story should have been an expose on under-the-table money to West Beverly recruits, or something else sports-related.
Andrea is extremely insecure. So she has to be extra to show she's not, and in control. Toxic femininity, strong t wo MaN. Don't need no man. But jokes in her. Brandon isn't into her. She's punching above her weight 😢
@@selenachan4230 100%, but the example used by the writers was bad. Brandon would have preferred writing about the down-on-his-luck, handicapped football team manager than toxic waste; he was into sports and was a sports editor.
@@selenachan4230Andrea looks like a 30 year old also. On the show she’s the oldest person also. And other girls are in late 20s but playing a role of a high school student… I never understood about this. I guess it’s supposed to be some stereotype a Jewish girl is somehow insecure and book loving person who lives at a grandma’s and go to a public school in Beverly Hills. lol 😅
@@KittenBowl1 I loved that family guy diss of Andrea "and there were orchards as far as the eye could see!" or the simpsons mocking Luke Perry "star of Springfield 90210, he's smart, he's sexy, he's 34 years old!"
This takes me back to middle school watching this show with my mom. She loved it, I just watched because I thought Kelly was hot. Funny thing is now I find Brenda far more attractive. Young boys dream skinny blond, old mans dream the brunet with a booty.
Gabriella as Andrea here, however is too mature to be a highschool student. She would be good and better portraying a young smart teacher in this series.
Back in the day i remember me and my friends laughing watching her bc she was so not believable as a teen like we were. We always felt Aaron Spelling thought we were stupid.
@@sweetsweet273 ikr. She was like a teacher or journalist pretend or doing undercover as a highschool student, (like Drew Barrymore's character in her movie 'Never Been Kissed").
Very few could pull off a mullet and look hot at the same time, even though many wore their hair that way back then lol, one is Jason Priesley and the other Patrick Swayze 😅❤
it's a series based on the sense of friendship, for me the complicated friendship between brenda and kelly made the success of this series, and the first episode of the meeting between brenda and kelly will remain a memorable episode and the end of this series ie the last episode should have concluded the first episode
Wait...what? She says: _"If you don't understand, please raise your hand."_ *Nobody raises their hand* Then she says: _"Doesn't anyone understand me?"_ *Andrea raises her hand, and then everybody does* Shouldn't that have been: _"If you understand me, please raise your hand."_ ?
lol that's the whole point and humoristic part of this scene: she said if you don't understand, raise your hand, and they don't because they don't understand even this simple sentence... then everybody raises their hands because they still don't understand, they just followed Andrea like a sheeple, it's a hilarious and very accurate scene. The whole point is that only Andrea knows what she is doing. 🤣🤣
I remember the actress playing Andrea got such a hard time because she was so much older than the other actors playing a high school student. Even Family Guy made fun of her. I was in high school in the early 90s. As a 47 year old woman, Andrea looks like a little girl to me and not an older actress trying to pass off as a hight school student.
I was 13 when the first episode aired and I remember learning their ages and was blown away by it, like NO WAY!! now I'm twice their age, and yes, they look like kids lol
They are afraid to remaster it as we would be able to clearly see 30 year olds pretending to be in high school. Remastering would show up Andreas liver spots and sagging skin
When I watched this as a kid I remember thinking that Kelly was such a bi*ch for the first few seasons. I recently rewatched 90210 and thought to myself how wholesome Kelly seems. Remember when Kelly was the Mean Girl?
@@longone-oc2zz she was 29 and looked younger,. Ian was 26 and no one seemed to have a problem with his age.! Good grief! The over emphasis on her age was and is ridiculous, especially when others were not far behind, including Luke. She was one of the best actors on the show. Move on already.
Wait a minute... I thought Andrea is a "freshman" so who is going to Beverly Hills High outside of the zone. How is it that she's so bossy to Brandon or am in charge of anything?!! Lol!
That scene where Brenda meets Kelly will never happen today. it'll get killed all over social media. Today if they do this scene they may make it a point to of how shitty Kelly is instead of the audience that Brenda found her new friend.
@@michaelleary9233 I never watched Power Rangers, I wouldn't know. But I remember Fat Albert cartoons - sometimes they drove. Sometimes they played "Cops and Robbers" so how old were they supposed to be?
Scott ended up telling that girl to sit with him. But then he killed himself that night. And she had no lab partner all semester. But was given an automatic A+ because of Scott dying.
The only thing I can think of to make sure I don’t get West Beverly in trouble for being the only one who does it for me is to get Brandon and Kelly to come over here and help us clean up the kitchen
What was that Spanish teacher thinking? I teach languages, and definitely you don't do something like that. You start little by little, presenting the new language grammar and vocabulary while facing out their native language day by day, little by little. Maybe she didn't know English, but how did she get the job then?
If you were into grunge maybe you didn’t identify with 90210…. and preferred my So Called Life.. maybe they were slightly different eras, I can’t remembers, but for reasons like this I guess I wasn’t into this show, like it was taken out of Mean Girls or inspired it.
Andrea thinks she is deeper and more mature than every “superficial” guy who wants to cover the female water polo story, then she proceeds to have the hots for Brandon the hunk in no time. How predictable.
Pure fatphobia! They put a much older actress to play the ''teenager'' Andrea and it was a very sexist time in which nerd girls were only good to be friends and nothing more, the ''cool guys'' only wanted preppy girls (usually blondes) and Brendon spent part of the series running after a woman who even betrayed his sister.
