Your flosstube was very entertaining and the patterns tempting as usual. 😊 Can you please spell the name of the Etsy shop that the woman in Iowa started? I tried raven's roost stitchery, but didn't come up with anything on Etsy. I have relatives in Iowa and I would love to purchase one of those corn project bags. Thanks.
Hi Mary Ann! Here is the link to the Etsy shop. I don't see the corn bag there, but you can message Jennifer and ask her about it. www.etsy.com/shop/RavensRoostStitchery
Best line ever spoken in the history of Brenda and Laura, “ Kindness keeps going and going….” Needs to be on a billboard, sampler, and coffee mug. Thank you for sharing your kindness with the stitching community.
I want to thank you for you for such wonderful episodes and all the wonderful information that you share! I found you the beginning of 2023 and have not missed one since. Your kind words and ncouragemnt is what we all need . You inspried me to go back to cross stitch. So to start back I took a free sampler from La D Da "Free-bee Alphabet w/Hare. Recently you talkedk about personalizing samplers , and I then watch the Colorado Stitcher an all her tips, so I took a dive in and changed the Hare to a Heart and put my husband and my initials and date of our Anniversary, since we will be married for 50yrs. You both are such a treasure and help so many of us on top of all the wonderful patterns and tips that you share. Sorry I could not find a way to insure a picture. Thank you again.
I just love watching you girls! You're so much fun to hang out with, and your show-and-tells are dazzling 😍. The three quilts you were gifted are fantastic, and I love that American Jane fabric so, so much. ❤
Another great floss tube. I too stitched with flower thread many years ago. Curtis Boehringer designed an Angel of the Month and a Santa of the Month series using the flower thread. I have never started the Santas but I do have 10 of the 12 angels stitched and nine of them are FFO'd. I dug out my project box and am inspired to at least finish the set of angels. I love when some of the old stuff is "new" again.
What a wonderful video!! I haven't been stitching much lately but this has given me inspiration. I need to look into the Bristol Samplers!! I also need to look at Heartstring Sampler! What a wonderful gift, those quilts are beautiful. Thank you both so much for sharing your time and talents with us.
I had such a great time watching you today. I love that you had such a good time at the Bristol Sampler weekend, Brenda!! Laura and I both are jealous that we didn’t get to go with you! I wish you both a wonderful couple of weeks of stitching!! ❤️Marla
Hello Ladies, Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads in your life. What an episode! Brenda sounds like you have had a fabulous time at the Attic and found plenty of stash enhancement. Laura you were a busy little bee while Brenda was gone. I joined you in the Red Sampler stitch over the weekend. Those quilts are just so beautiful. So much to see! Have a fabulous stitchy week. Hugs to you both, Teresa 🤗💗
It's so nice to see you both! What a wonderful recap of the Bristol weekend! I especially love the 15 Friends sampler and will look forward to getting it. Stitchers are just so kind! Thanks as always for making me feel I had a great visit with stitchy friends! Take care and happy stitching!
Always love stitching and watching your blog. I love ever opening flower and put in a pre order at traditional stitches in beginning of march, as that was the only place i could find it. They sent it and the fabric the middle of April and I still don't have it😢. I bought all the threads. Mean which.e it available in my state in Australia. Will give it another wee, and notify the store again. Can't wait to stitch it. The kangaroos your friend sent, if you squeeze their back their arms open so you can clip it to things. I'm pretty sure. Looking forward to your next blog.🇦🇺⚘❤
Brenda I was so happy to hear you had met Jennifer Richardson of Violets& Verses at the Attic Bristol Sampler Event. I had the privilege of attending the Enfield NH Shaker Sampler Retreat she hosted last October with Merry Susan Schreck. What an event they provided us…beautiful projects including a reproduction Shaker Sampler. Food prepared in the shaker style by a caterer and saturation in the Shaker history as we met in the museum. I would highly recommend their retreats and they have one this October coming up. I would love to have you visit my home territory and enjoy all Jennifer and Merry Susan have to offer.
Wowza! That sounds like it was an amazing event!!!! Brenda and I would love to find out more.....this year is already filled up for both of us but you never know about next year! Thank you Karen!
Brenda, I was so glad to see that you purchased the Alice Park sampler, as my name is Alice Park. I was given the chart by my local quilt shop. She could wait till I stopped by the shop to give it to me. I am luck. Sorry for the delay in commenting. I save your videos for the days that I have chemo treatment…..it makes the time go faster!
That was a wonderful gift from your quilt shop Alice!!!!! Brenda and I are sending you our best wishes for a full recovery and that your chemo treatments go quickly. Hugs!!!!
Love your flosstube! I am in awe of all of the information you brought us from your retreat. I always enjoy watching you. Such a Joy! Can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks and I'll be stithing all the things! (at least in my heart)
I just went to In Stitches over the past weekend. I went to see my daughter and made a B line to the store before even seeing my kid! I looked at all of the linen and even purchased the same pattern! I just love that store
Hi!! Great video!!! Laura, I had the pleasure of sitting with Andrea at Stitchcon. I couldn’t believe she just called you and you chatted with each of us at the table. A thrill for sure. Andrea gifted us pouches and some goodies too.
I lived the first 26 years of my life in Bristol (it’s a beautiful city by the way, if anyone gets the chance the visit they should), but I had never heard the name George Müller until I started watching your videos! I wasn’t stitching when I was living there mind you, but I spent my childhood going to museums and always thought I knew a lot about the history of where I lived. I haven’t managed to go back since I moved, but when/if I do I’m definitely going to try and go to the George Müller Museum, which I’ve just learnt exists!
I had the chance to attend a Zoom retreat Jennifer of V & V put on featuring Claudia and I was fascinated by the history of the Bristol samplers and the orphanage. My bucket list got added to that day as I want to make the pilgrimage someday.
Oh!! We can't wait to see your 15 Friends Sheri!!!! Both of us enjoy your FT so much!!! and we are both looking forward to seeing you at summer school!!!!
When I grow up I want to be just like you two!! You owe it to yourself to consider a field trip in the month of March to In Stitches (Alexandria, VA) AND the needlework show held at Woodlawn each year during the month of March. You won’t be disappointed. Deb Houston
The history of the samplers and who stitched them I find fascinating. I am so glad you had a good time at the Bristol weekend Brenda. Laura I loved your shirt. You, goobers are so much fun! Your project bag is Dick and Jane from the old children’s books isn’t it? Lovely quilts such a nice gift.
Love the J Wecker Frisch designs - have never seen them before. Wonderful. Oh, My Goodness - have you seen the JWF fabric called She Who Sews Shop Signs, Spools and Vintage. Amazing. Am going to buy some Queen We'en or Old Made and make some pillows backed with raw silk in black. Thanks so much for enabling and for the person who made the mattress pillows for you.
Oh my gosh you girls!! I was just laughing along!! Of course I have a few items in my “must buy” list again 🤦♀️🤦♀️ seriously you crack me up . Thanks for brightening my day❤❤❤
Ladies, you are such a tonic to watch. In the middle of a thunderstorm here in 🇮🇪. Loved your recap of the Bristol weekend. My husband is from further down in Somerset, he calls you my laughing women cause I always end up laughing out loud when I watch you both Will have to visit Bristol sometime we're over. Enjoyed all your stitching Laura. Hope you have a great time with your visitors. The quilts are amazing. Quilting is on my bucket list someday. Take care. Best wishes from 🇮🇪
Oh boy!!!! Lots of happy people will be receiving those pieces!!!!!! We are always happy to shout wonderful stores like yours Ellen!!!!! Thank you for the great service!!!!!!!
So good to see you. I needed this today. A descent into madness this morning. I finally figured out why I was unhappy with two of the pieces that I'm working on. I used the wrong whites. So some research later into B5200, Ecru, Blanc and 3865, I decided to re-start my Porch Scene and for the third time, I'll be restarting Dashing Through the Snow. Great video.
I actually went and visited the George Muller orphanage in Bristol this past February. It’s now turned into a small museum and a college now resides in the building as well.
I really like all the interest in Bristol Samplers. I would commend reading the book George Muller of Bristol by Arthur T. Pierson. This book will take you into the life of George Muller and what led him and how that work was supported. In this book you will get a picture of what an amazing man he was and what an amazing work he did in Bristol. Those children though they had so little were given so much through living there.
We are STILL smiling! The Goobers Are On The Air!! Yes, they are!! Loved the haul and all the Bristol 3 stories and WIPs and all the lovelies! I know you had a blast with the linens, Brenda, all by yourself with a fresh delivery!! Especially 56 count!! I never saw the Aztec 56 😢 You CAN do it!! Get ALL the lamps and magafiers (what my son used to call them!). I loved spending time with you last weekend - what a table of talent and love we had!! And LOTS OF LAUGHTER! Like Anna said - we all need to bring Depends next time!! ❤️ Enjoy your week!
Thank you so much Melissa!!!!! (Laura here...) We will have to have a repeat of all the fun you had at Bristol at Summer School in August!!!!!! Looking forward to more laughing and more stashing....and more stitching!!!! Love the Goober story!
@@brendaandtheserialstarter2410 Dee mentioned y’all again this morning! It truly is a term of endearment! He thinks y’all are a hoot and a half! And he calls me a Goober ALL the time! It’s a fun “Club”!!!!! Laughter and stitching (& maybe a bit of stashing) are definitely on the horizon for Summer School!!
Just the most perfect way to spend my Sunday afternoon, stitching and watching my dear friends. I loved seeing the quilts that you were gifted as it highlights the generosity, kindness, and and heart felt goodness of our community. Thank you for all you share and give to us through your FlossTube channel. Love you both to pieces. 💕💕
Thank you dear dear friend!!!!! You are so correct! This community is so generous and good! You are a leading member of that movement!!! Sending you a big hug!
Laura, loved your HELLO at the beginning of the video, you sounded like a British lady! So fun! Brenda, you are so fortunate to have been at the Bristol weekend! Such beautiful gifts, and learning all about the samplers and stitchers who made them must have been amazing! Wow! The quilts you were gifted are just amazing! I agree, this community is beyond what anyone can believe! Stitchers are so amazing and generous! I so enjoy seeing all of the beautiful stitching you both are working on!
Brenda, I LOVE the red and white drunkards path quilt on the back of your sofa! Sometime between 1980-1985, I saw the drunkards path template for the first time and absolutely loved the quilt it made! It’s a beautiful quilt!! So jealous LOL
I wonder if Brenda knows that is the name of that quilt pattern??????????? We shall see when she reads your comment Angela!!!! It is a gorgeous quilt. Love red/white quilts!
Such wonderful eye candy as always. I empathize with your faffing Laura. Even though we technically don't have squirrels in New Zealand, I swear one runs through my stitchy spot at least once a week. 😂
Thank you for pointing out the connections with stitchers of the past & present! This is what it is all about! When I sit and stitch I often remember the fun times stitching with my Mother. We listened to music, burned a candle, and "solved problems" as we stitched and chatted. Brings a smile to my heart. Happy to see you ladies this week.
Thoroughly enjoy the two of you and your fun together. The Coke was SO like me. I have a question about the magnification tools you use. I have a n Ott light I love bit the magnifier is the pits. I've got to get busy stitching! My vision is crap! Thsnk you for getting back to me, I appreciate it a ton. ❤
Oh y’all!!! Sweet gifts and wonderfulness!! I just got back from my first retreat ever…stitchcon!! You are right. If you go alone, you leave with a dozen friends!!! I had a ball. I was overwhelmed and will never forget my stitchy friends!!!!
Great Flosstube as always ladies. Brenda, I couldn’t agree with you more about retreats! I can stitch at home in my recliner anytime but I only get to see some of my stitchy friends once a year. This year I got to meet so many friends in person at Stitch Con that I’d never met in person. My heart was full when I left and I felt so blessed. When I got home I immediately wanted to sit and stitch. Hubby says “didn’t you get enough of that?” I just smiled and said “nope, I was too busy enjoying the moment”. Thanks again ladies for for your time in sharing your love of our amazing craft.
Thank you so much Linda!!! You described a stitching retreat perfectly!!!! It is a time to renew special friendships and make new friends...then when you get home you just want to stitch!!!
Loved all the Bristol news! What a wonderful time for you Brenda. Lora so many beautiful samplers to work on no wonder you jumped from one to another…giggle. The quilts were amazing! I got so many great ideas today! I want to do a flag pillow made those little pillows. Adorable!
I am continually amazed at your presence throughout our stitching community and the admiration you receive from fellow stitchers. Your stitching is beautiful, and your enabling personalities are the best. Your videos are always a joy!
Enjoyable show today!! I love hearing about the Bristol Orphanage. I am just fascinated with the history. I too enjoy stitching a sampler with history. Laura all of your 2 weeks of WIPS are beautiful. The quilts are such a generous gift !! Brenda and Laura it just shows how appreciated you are!! The both of you always make me laugh. May God Bless the both of you!! ❤
Oh, my, those quilts are fabulous!! Having learned to quilt during Covid, I have a real appreciation for the work, time and love that go into quilts like those, so happy for all of you. I loved seeing everything and hearing about your adventures and happy meet-ups. Happy stitching………………….
My mom started teaching me embroidery when I was 5 or 6 years old. I remember doing cross stitch and running stitch. I can't even imagine being 4, 5, or 6 years old and doing a Bristol Sampler. Heck, I'm 63yo and wonder if I will ever be able to complete one. 😜 Love you two goobers!
Brenda your glasses are very flattering to you. I am stitching on Mrs. Campbell today on 46 ct using 103’, using both the very first time. I ordered a new magnifier so I can go in stitching this 46 ct and go onto higher counts. So fascinating about the orphanage. Never thought about if a child didn’t do well in the orphanage that they would go back to family. Amazing children! Thank you for sharing all your goodies, times and talents.
Thank you for your lovely compliment to Brenda! I agree with you Sharon! Happy that you are able to stitch on 46 count! Yes, the need for magnification is real!
LOL....I just love you two goobers!! Such wonderful stories from your Bristol weekend Brenda. As always, thank you so much for sharing your wonderful projects!! You are both such an inspiration!! I just adore you! Hugs from NE Ohio.
Hello ladies! As always, I just loved stitching while watching your video. Such GORGEOUS projects you are working on and all the beautiful happy mail was heart-warming. OMG! Those quilts!!! I am not surprised with all the love you receive because you both are so sweet and you totally express your gratitude. I wish we were neighbors!!!!!!!!
Not only do they know who you are at In Stitches, they're excited you called! (It's my LNS, I was there yesterday 😊. And I might possibly have also gotten some linen...)
That is just wild! But makes me excited and happy too!!!! I am glad that you possibly got some linen CJ!!!!! We all need a big linen stash! I have switched from buying jewelry and clothes to buying linen. It is better than gold!
Thank you so much!!!! I know Brenda will enjoy each stitch!!! and so will I when I get one of your sampler charts at the Attic in August! Gorgeous work!
I bought this chart this past weekend when I was at the Country Sampler retreat! I was pleasantly surprised to see it mentioned here!!! It’s so beautiful!
Always a joy seeing you both. One day I’ll get to the Attic. It’s so close lol everytime you hold up a wip I’m like oooh I have that and go pull it out. 😊such wonderful wips!! Every opening flower is a gotta get for me. ❤. I spend more time figuring out what I’m going to take on my trips than what I’m going to wear lol. Thanks for visiting
Thank you Patti!!!! We put more thought and time to what stitching we are taking on a retreat than we do clothing, etc. You just ave to have a good WIP with you!
Wow! That was a packed full episode of pure joy! It always amazes me how much beautiful content both of you have to show! I think I need to add Fifteen Friends to my wish list. Love you guys!❤
I’m going to have to watch this video again. Thanks for sharing some of the information about the Bristol Samplers, the history is fascinating and the samplers are breathtaking. The retreat sounds like a bucket list adventure. The excitement you both share is so fun!
Bristol weekend sounds phenomenal. I'm headed to summer school, and I can't wait! I'm saving my pennies to have some fun. Thanks Laura for talking about Knee High by the 4th of July. I needed a new start for my new project bag and that perfectly fit the bill. Thanks ladies as always for all the beautiful eye candy. You two are very appreciated.
You are going to Summer School!!!! How wonderful!!! We will see you there!!! I need to find my Knee High chart! It looks like a really fun stitch! See you soon Felicia!
Thank you ladies for another beautiful floss tube. Your Bristol weekend looked loads of fun! Laura you have done loads of stitching. I’ve been faffing about and not being motivated to stitch but you have inspired me to get to it! See you both soon
What a great time with you wonderful humans today! I smiled from the first minute to the last. I loved hearing about the Bristol retreat and got a little choked up thinking of the little girls stitching and personalizing their samplers. One day I will get to the Attic and hopefully a retreat there as well! So many treasures today... I love the haul and gifts. The joy it brings you always spills over to the rest of us. Thank you for the Monday pick-me-up. 🌹🌹🌹
You two are so inspiring and you make me laugh and chuckle. I loved the quilts. You are so fortunate. All right you goobers, enjoy your next two weeks and your special guests!! (How funny!)
Hi my 2 favourite crazy cross stitchers! 😊I’m so glad you caught up with Anna from Stitch Roadies. I love her to bits and envious so much😂! You all had a wonderful time. Thanks so much for your blog and all the wonderful memories you’ve created and cherish. It’s my dream to one day meet you all, at The Attic and Acorns and threads. Not going to happen I know, but one can dream. Bless you both for letting me into your life. ❤️❤️🇦🇺
Everything was great! Loved the bit on baby Yoda. I needed an update and a translation from when my family members answer me…😂 Brenda’s reaction is priceless. You TWO! Such entertainment. It really hit me as I ordered floss drops what an influence you are to my lovely things❤❤
