IDK why but this and other songs like these make me feel some kind of nostalgic way from growing up that memories can't touch. Music really is like its own avenue to the heart and soul and mind. Bittersweet but mesmerizing in its own way. I can't imagine not having music since it's having like a sixth sense. Words can describe it.
YES. Even though I probably wasn't more than 10 & hadn't really been through anything in life yet when I 1st heard this, it still sent me to some sad place in the attic of my memory & still does til this day.
I woke up and heard this song playing in the back of my mind. Haven’t heard it since I was a kid, had to Google the words like most people and see what they were saying. I follow sign and wonders so I’ll have to do some seeking to see what this is saying to me. Hope all the moms have a Blessed Mother’s Day next week.❤
My 8 year old does this now. I'm gonna record her. I have some old videos on my channel of her and hart brother singing old school songs. You should check them out.
You know you have an epic hit song for life when 25 years later people are sampling, covering, and remixing your amazing song. Much ❤️ bc styles may change, but a good song is a frickin good song. Period.❤️
When I find myself watching the time I never think about all the funny things you said I feel like it's dead Where is it leading me now? I turn around in the still of the room Knowing this is when I'm gonna make my move Can't wait any longer And I'm feeling stronger, but oh Just as I walk to the door I can feel your emotion It's pulling me back Back to love you I know, caught up in the middle I cry just a little When I think of letting go Oh no, gave up on the riddle I cry just a little When he plays piano in the dark He holds me close like a thief of the heart He plays a melody Born to tear me all apart The silence is broken And no words are spoken, but oh Just as I walk to the door I can feel your emotion It's pulling me back Back to love you I know, caught up in the middle I cry just a little When I think of letting go Oh no, gave up on the riddle I cry just a little When he plays piano in the dark The silence is broken And no words are spoken, but oh Just as I walk to the door I can feel your emotion Oh baby, pull me back Back to love you I know, I'm caught up in the middle I cry just a little When I think of letting go Oh no, gave up on the riddle I cry just a little I cry, I cry I know, I'm caught up in the middle I cry just a little When I think of letting go Oh no, gave up on the riddle I cry just a little When he plays piano in the dark Source: Musixmatch
I heard this song at a restaurant and jotted down the lyrics. Thought it might be Toni Braxton, then found the 2011 version but it was like diet soda with artificial sweetener. Finally found this and what a pleasure it is!! Brenda Russell you're amazing.
The lyrics it's a beautiful song beautiful lady singing what a voice she's one of the forgotten ones the song touches all aspects I heard the song on the jazz station wrvr many years ago and I said wow amazing 👍🏾
Her love keeps pulling me back for more but as I turn to the door no one was there to pull me back so I cry I cry I cry then out of the darkness here comes Brenda Russell with God light upon her to bring me back to Pino in the dark as it plays while we dance to Pino in the dark for the last time. #1

Listening to the local radio station on my clock radio on a sleep timer going to bed at night in 7th grade.... I pictured the most beautiful woman singing me to sleep. Thanks baby.
I remember you Kimyetta Johnson. This was my Jam when I went to see you working in the Library back in Detroit the Summer of 88. If you read this message by chance I just want to say we had good times back in Detroit Northewestern High School. I should have asked you out earlier to the Prom. I was just a day late. Anyways hope you living a good life. Lost Love from Rick Class of 90.
One thing I can really say is black women have such beautiful voices. When u listen to any love songs in the 80s by black females artists. You can really hear just how beautiful their voices are. I can not get into music they started playing in the late 90s and definitely not the music over these past 12 year's. And they just get worse each year. I think white female artists was really good back then to. I can't get into their music as well. Cause it's just sad female singers really song with their emotions and their heart in the 80s. That's why 80s songs like this will never go away. Since the 80s generations been born and I read so many different generations comments. And I always hear them say things like. How they wish they wa born in those day's. How they like this music more then they like songs through out these past 25 year's.They even would bring up movies from the 80s and 90s. And they are right cause we keep seeing Hollywood doing remakes of movies from the 80s and they end up so bad. Just like they will takes parts from songs in the 80s songs. It's nice to be able to listen to these songs I grew up with. I just cant get into the music they been putting out for the past 20 year's. Maybe every now and then a song will come out that I will like. But they are not songs I can go back to listening years later. This is just me and we all have are own tastes in what we like. Sorry for my English

Found this because I heard Flo rida... Good way of using past music to make it an "In" again but some people haven't realized that yet.... Come to think of it... I wouldn't have found this piece of art if somebody didn't remake this version into something modern ;)
This woman was being compared back in the late 80s as another Anita Baker she had a sultry sounding voice with a slight distinct sound that separated her voice patterns from Anita Baker but very closely similar in the style of music she's like a cross between Anita Baker and Dionne Warwick
I always sing these song even the lyrics is not right... I got the help from google for so long... now i enjoyed it even better... Goose bumps is the feeling...
I was an 80s kid, and every which way you turned all the music was good so many great artists. I too am now a professional musician but didn't start making my music till the mid-to-late 90s and the 90s pretty much sucked. But the 80s you could listen to any genre and the musicians were outstanding and they even recorded all their stuff live which means they played it in the studio from beginning to end. Not all this cut and paste computer stuff they do now and adding samples everywhere. There are still good musicians out there and writers but not like the 80s when you heard a band you knew who they were and there were so many that were so awesome.
