Joshua Johnson is super talented. Best interview I’ve seen and I appreciate that it was more than just a quick 5 min segment. He dug in and covered so much. Good start to his new show.
I’ve never seen Joshua Johnson, but wow am I impressed with his keen interviewing skills. I loved seeing those unabashed Post It notes in his copy of Brene’s book - he’s both read and absorbed it as prep for this quality interview. Bravo!
I’m not going to fanboy about Brene’s presentation here because she always shows up with her authentic, informed self. What blew me way was how well prepared this interview was. I usually doubt if the interviewer actually read the interviewee’s book, but there is no doubt he not only read, but absorbed this book (as well as her previous work). Mr. Johnson did his homework and it shows.
This was a brilliant interview! Could tell the interviewer knew the content and was prepared with thoughtful/ engaging questions. Bréne was brilliant at explaining things in layman’s terms - as usual 🥰
Your Questions were wonderful, an yes heavy:) all the stick ‘‘em notes are Great…. This Book is fantastic, filled with incredible insight, understanding and so helpful! I highly recommend it ….Brené brings to all of us a Gift of Hope… thank you for sharing this…Grateful.
Wow! This was excellent! Brene needs her own show. I have learned so much from her books and talks. 12:33 - 13:12 was so powerful and brilliant, I had to watch it five times to let it sink in and marinate. I've done this to women and I've had white people do it to me. The way she breaks down information and clearly explains it is such a gift. I went to high school with this guy. I didn't really know him, he was a year younger than me, but I am so proud of him and his accomplishments, and a bit envious that he gets to sit and talk with this incredible woman!
Really great interview with questions that went beyond the surface. Congrats, Joshua. Saw multiple interviews with Brene and yours is by far the most comprehensive.
Brilliant - loads of lightbulb moments , yet truly deeper understanding on so many levels , love you Brene Brown , your work is ground breaking for me.. thanks to folks for reccomending this awe inspiring lady to me too.
Oh wow I have always had this way of empathy that Brené is explaining , always come natural to me. This is how I have always been. I try to explain this to others and it seems that most do not comprehend, so thank you Brené Brown for saying it so well. 👁️💫
I have been a fan of Brene Brown for years....her insight has given me tools to understand how to evaluate and take responsibility for emotions and boundaries. Joshua was well prepared and knowledgeable in an amazing interview; he was brilliant - kudos Joshua - I was so impressed by you. Brene as always explains herself with tremendous compassion, understanding. Thank you both!
This speaks so much to me. Every once in a while I run into Brene brown and she speaks to me so much and then somehow she leaves my line of vision and I forget. Thank you for the reminder
Lovely chemistry between the two fo you. I am reading this book at the moment and embracing it each evening. Thank you. It is great to have an insight into the book from your fresh perspective here. I cannot wait to read more. Curiosity about other peoples stories is so key. The 4 B's: Biology, biography, behaviour & back story. Got it. Happy New Year! 😀❤️🤘
Joshua you are the best! Not to be rude, but I’ve never seen you before and have no clue who you are! I must live under a rock. But after watching your amazing interview I’m on a search to find more of you. 😘 You are a great host with great questions. :-) Loved this.
Thank you to Joshua Johnson brilliantly devised interview to chunk down the detail , concepts and bring us all to the point were we want to hear and understand more , and obviously buy a brilliant conceptual book too , await to hear more from you both ..
I love the fact that he actually read the book and he actually asked nice questions. I had the book for less than a month now and after this I am more excited to read it. I love Brene Brown, you can tell she is motivated by love! 💚
Very thoughtful interview. I appreciate the great questions well answered. Vocalizing what most know deep down. I am a little bit better for hearing this and will be reading this book.
Really skilled interview and he prepared very well with excellent follow up questions. I am really enjoying the book and looking forward to continuing to learn from Brené, her researchers, and other experts cited in the book.
Interviewer did such a great job at asking questions. I appreciated how clearly prepared and insightful he was on the book and of course Brene's insight and articulation as well!
What a powerful conversation! Joshuah’s amazing questions! Can’t wait to read this book. I’d love to see a conversation between Brene Brown and Karla McLaren on the concept of shame. Love you Brene! Thank you for all you do! ❤️
One of the best interviewers I've seen ~ so insightful and truly interesting to listen to; Joshua, you actually care about the topic, that is so evident, and it makes all the difference!!
Excellent interview. He not only brought up insightful questions, but segued perfectly between quotes in the book, Brene's field of study, and relatable life in general without missing a thing. Plus, I love Brene and the way her heart and true love comes out in everything she says and her points she believes in. ❤️
💕 I love the focus on reducing judgment and invalidation in the service of building community connections. . Improving our skills to validate the valid is a wise way back to stronger and more loving communities. Brene’s invitation to us is consistent with the core skills that are taught in DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy).
Great interview! I'm being introduced to you for the first time, Joshua. You're an excellent interviewer and Brene's work is always deep, insightful and life changing. Thank you!
Just came accross this interview snd want to second the comments below: what a joy to watch such a thoroughly prepared interview, straight to the depth, nuanced and so incredibly real. Thank you Mr. Johnson and Ms. Brown.
I'm overwhelmed about the dynamics being talked in this interview, so much that I'm feeling emotionally dumb. I'm trying to be more vulnerable. But having accountability on my relations and society sounds so important and difficult.
Absolutely BRILLIANT!! Exceptionally well done Mr. Johnson and Brene Brown!! All the issues addressed in this interview are exactly the areas I've done a lot of great work in. But we don't really master these pieces of wisdom until we've practiced and LIVED them for many years. I'm in a place of revisiting all this and this interview was PERFECT for the work I'm doing (again). Brene Brown is right on time for our world, now-days, and I'm definitely going to follow this guy!
Brene thank you for thoses kind words my moral was very low today like - 10 but you putting me back up to 2 much appreciate thank you for you compassion and understanding we need more soul like yours Amen 🛐
I have bought her book "Atlas to the Heart". I found the book a great way to understand the language of emotions and it is helping me through my own emotional issues and helped me understand why I feel anixty and understand shame
Joshua Johnson, you are an amazing interviewer and the kind of person I'd want in my circle. Bravo on this beautifully executed interview! You've done your homework. :)
what gives you hope that we are going to find ways to reconnect? love-what’s love, bellhook’s love, the drive to experience love for ourselves and others
If you are in empathy you can read other people's feelings and ,AND have conversations in the feeling language but it's a skill to be developed and recognized like a foreign language
I’m embarrassed to say I audio listened this book 4 times and I know I’m going to audio listen the whole book few more times. This should be a required book to read in school, in college, in government, cooperations, non profits
