We did take home a gold this year. Also this is why you see American wrestlers have a professional career afterwards, because we are in shape. Metcalf took 5th at OTT this year, he's pretty good at Freestyle.
okay medcalf is one off the best colladge wrestlers ever. people start matchs out with 90 percent stamena by the end the oppent has 30 left and medcaf has atleast 70 or 80. he will come at u the hole time off the matchpoint blank he is one off the best ever
yea i think he meant by "those funny ear thingys", the headgear wrestlers wear. it's to protect your ears from getting cauliflower ear, plus it is mandatory in collegiate and high school wrestling.
@tekken801 Hey man just wanted to let you know I watched this video every night in high school for 3+ years (over 1,000x) and mimicked this so well, I ended up going on to win a few titles and even got to wrestle against ISU with Metcalf in the opposite corner. Just came across it again as I'm coaching the next generation and wanted to let you know. Pretty crazy how much of an impact it had!
@carlkiller15 he does that so the ref will give the guy one escape point and then he tries to pounce on him before he gets back up To get his two takedown points
its hard to see metcalf losing this year i cant imagine how hard hes training im done argueing over whos better i think metcalf is over all the better wrestler but caldwell just has his number but i wouldnt be suprised to see caldwell move up a weight im a little suprised metcalf isnt
So I just have the one thing to say about the pin that undid Metcalf, his shoulders were on top of caldwells chest. but the ref called it so it was put in the books. I am a die hard Iowa fan but Mecalf got beat hands down by Caldwell during the NCAA's
I had a kid from Sayville this year pinned in a cradle and do you know what happend to me? The kid started to scream to get out and guess what? He was. The wrestling population today needs to grow a pair and start wrestling how it should be done. -Gain respect -Walk off the matt feeling like you gave it a hell of a fight -Never give up -Never accept anything less then your goal
let me just say that i dont know much about wrestling. at 33 seconds it looks like hes doing a kneebar on the other dude. he even rolled into it like in bjj. does this guy cross train and what is that move called in wrestling?
i hate palmer but he knew what he had to do and i think brands knows what metcalf needs to do i personally think he quit moving both times he was in deep on palmer if you watch his semi finals match against palmer last year everytime he was in on a shot he was in constant motion until he got the takedown this time he hesitated and thats what happend
umm, he lost 3x in college. at the time of this video he had 2 losses. so idk what this guy was thinking. his first loss was a pin, so idk why the 1 is in quotes.
@st23an dude caldwell is not lazy, just because on the mat hes not pure head on 100% doesnt mean he doesnt work, how do you think you get that fast and the skill to hit moves on the kide that "wrestling is about"
I always think its funny that people bring up the "backflip" to try to prove Caldwell is less of a champion or dirty or something. When in fact it was METCALF who cost his team a point. If a wrestler wants to do backflips the whole match he CAN! no rule against it. There are rules against accessive pushing out of bounds however. Dirty boy Metcalf!
He's a great wrestler and I like intensity, but he is a bit "dirty". Between the kick to the back of Schlatter's leg after time expired, the forearm grind to Schlatter's head for the sake of it after another match is essentially over, the shot to Caldwell after the finals loss, and then the quote from an address to kids in camp; "I'll punch anyone in the back of the head that turns their back to me" If I had to choose a camp/person I would want my son to learn from, I'd take Cael Sanderson
Seems to me that Caldwell beat him pretty good in the NCAA finals. "Phantom Pin", huh...sounds more like a "Loser's Limp" to me! Maybe he shouldn't have gotten in that position to be pinned... It'll be nice to see someone really jack him (and it will happen)...I'm curious to see how he handles it...
I thought he gave up in the 2nd period when his head was on the mat so I guess I did see Metcalf attack too bad the match was over already. he should of done that during the match he might of had a chance
