Really interesting . That was super informative. I have stock STI with after market cat back exhaust. I'm confident now yo get a dyno tune even tho I have no upgrades. Every car DOES need a tune . Thanks fof the advice . Im in New Zealand.
@LaszloBereti
@LaszloBereti 3 года назад
catback exhaust has no impact on the tune. You can get a tune if thats what you were going to do regardless of this mod or not, but as far as needing a tune for a catback, you do not need one.

Just finished my e tune with Bren. I was a little shocked but it only took one revision for my car. Probably because I’m on crappy 91 octane. The car is so smooth now and great power gains. Thanks for the recommendation!

@@ZachThreeve I could be wrong but I think they use the latest and most reliable tune from a previous user and then use said tune as a base for new user? This then should make it easier to tune the next guy or girl as everything was just dialed in with those exact parts. Just a hunch.

Which OTS tune were you running when you e-tuned with Brentuning? Boost select, LWG, HWG? octane? Do you know your current elevation? Just curious, I just did the AP and COBB stage 1+ SF to my 2020 base and will be reaching out to Brentuning next week. I'm roughly 4800ft and are seeing boost about 16.8psi on a brisk 30 degree day with the HWG map on 91. Target values are 18psi. I see very minimal feedback learn of 1.4 and sometimes get the -1.4 feedback knock. DAM is 1:1 and has never changed, AFR is 14.69 at idle. From what I can see, these numbers appear to be pretty decent. I am very curious to see what Brentuning can do to make it better.
@Scoobyfreak86
@Scoobyfreak86 3 года назад
I ran the Cobb stage 1 93 tune. Neither lwg or hwg. Just the normal tune. Elevation is low so nothing like where you are.
@brentswiger2514
@brentswiger2514 3 года назад
@@Scoobyfreak86 from your personal experience, I'm wondering if I am actually over boosting with the current temps and elevation? The boost select map gave me higher feedback learning and more feedback knock and a little less boost.

I do not have experience with higher elevation so I can’t comment. However, you numbers appear to be very normal.

@@Scoobyfreak86 Thank you. This is all new to me. The past few days have given me some anxiety. Wait! I’m confused! Did you have issues with the MAP OTS tune? Or with the COBB OTS? I’m currently running the COBB SF intake with their stage 1+ OTS map. ! @Scoobyfreak86
@Scoobyfreak86 3 года назад
Nothing strange at all. Less revisions just show the car is reacting well to the new tune and not much is needed to adjust. You also need to take into consideration that the car needs time to adapt. The more miles you put on it, the better it will be. Faster doesn't always mean better. Throttle input comes into play here as well as many companies that sell a blanket tune (OTS no etuning), adjust throttle input to be more aggressive to make it feel faster. Bren's is more linear and power comes on throughout the powerband as opposed to lacking all over the place.
@Hello_its_me_mario

@Scoobyfreak86
@Scoobyfreak86 3 года назад
-1.4 to -2.8 is 100% normal. You should see the knock feedback on the stock map. In fact if you see 0% knock all the time, that usually means the tuner turned off the knock sensors. And that’s a BIG red flag you went with the wrong tuner. Bren is very transparent about not turning it off.

I don’t know exact numbers as I never got a dyno. Yep, that sound about right. Those stock numbers are definitely lower than normal, but around that range is what you’d expect to see. People confuse crank and wheel hp so often get disappointed when they see the numbers. To me, it’s about how the car reacts and performs. Not what the numbers say.
