Bret's deadpan delivery when burying certain guys never gets old and will never not be funny

Bret is underestimating himself, and overestimating some other people. And admitting a guy you had serious beef with (Shawn ) is a 10/10 takes a big man. Bret is a class act.

I think ring attire is part of 'look'. Bret absolutely nailed it with the pink and black. Could be the coolest looking gear in my lifetime of watching wrasslin; 40 years or so.

I gotta be honest, I’d give bret hart a 9/10 on look. He might not be the most intimidating or biggest guy, but he was the most coolest looking one. 10/10 on wrestling, and 6-7/10 on promo.

I have to disagree with Bret on HHH....sort of. I don't think HHH is too creative in his wrestling, but I think he has a real good head for promos and storytelling. HHH was brilliant at selling and working heat in promos.

thing I like about Bret is despite all his historical feuds with Michaels he always points out how great a wrestler he is.

Bret had a great look. 8/10. His promos with HBK and America sucks were easily 7/10. He improved immensely throughout his career.

Brets rating as a wrestler made his look even better. The pink and black attire with the white and black shoes went well with his style. Hell even his entrance attire was super cool.

Also consider how Bret could play either heel or babyface effortlessly. His knowledge of ring & promo psychology was staggering. He was never terribly eloquent, but he understood how to work the audience so extremely well. And his heel & babyface personas were not terribly different. There was pretty much an identical attitude & tone for both, he would just adjust the talking points slightly. This made him so much more believable. His greatest gift was giving pro wrestling legitimacy when so few performers in his era -- particularly in gimmick-heavy WWF -- could do that.

Bret was definitly one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He had many many fans here in Germany and he was my favourite Wrestler too.

Brets promos as a anti american heel were some of his best promos ever...I would rank him higher then a 6 with promos

At least we can say Bret doesn't play the game... he's always been himself and never switched up nor let the fans sway how he really feels ably a wrestler.

Those were all brutally honest and absolutely accurate scores. Brett and Shawn delivered some of the most intense and realistic LOOKING matches in the history of the sport, they are absolutely 10/10 in the ring. They sold every single jab, chop, and stomp that today's wrestlers simply can't.

Ironically, Brett didn't know how wrong he was about HHH. Whether or not he had his own ideas, the fact that he's so willing to work with OTHER'S ideas is why the WWE is back in form.

I go back to youtube where you can watch mat classics from stampede wrestling from the late 70's to about 84 and see how fast BH developed his talents in a very short period of time. Bret Hart vs Dynamite Kid when they're both really young and uber talented are hard hitting, quasi shoot matches that still blow my mind. He took that talent and adjusted it to suit the WWF at thetime and was one of the main reasons I was such a dedicted fan. he made you believe.

Brett's 6/10 mic rating for himself seems generous lol He had a great look (if you were a kid at the time, you wanted Brett's glasses) and his wrestling still holds up to this day as incredible. Imagine if he had a Paul Heyman to work with?

According to this scale, Macho Man is 10/10, 10/10, 10/10 - 30/30 = the perfect wrestler - exactly the way it should be - clearly the cream of the crop

Bret just tells it like he sees it. He even acknowledges his weaknesses and admits that others are better at promos than he is, but doesn’t seem upset by that. I respect that.

Bash Hogan's wrestling skills all you want, no one was a bigger name in the wrestling industry than Hogan. Next is Stone Cold, and Ric Flair is there for longevity of being The Man. If you're making your Mt Rushmore, the next name is debatable. But those 3 are cemented in for all time.

Bret is my favorite wrestler of all time the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be! In my estimation is 10 6 10 26 out of his own 30 but the from all the other wrestlers who ever wrestled him said the fact no one ever got hurt in all his years and matches he was in until he retired no one else fake or not can say that.

I've always divided it between WRESTLERS and ENTERTAINERS. Kurt Angle vs Hulk Hogan so to speak. But Bret has an interesting take.

I think his statements about the look is absolutely spot on. If you think about some of the greatest talents in wrestling over the years, they developed a character that was larger than life and could easily have been a comic book character - The Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Goldberg. They had an immediate presence and signature style. That look is probably a one in a million type of talent.

Bret Hart definitely undershot himself there on his own look, I thought he had a 10/10 look. Of course, I personally love the Rockstar style look and you couldn't deny that Bret Hart especially paired with the Leather Jacket and Sunglasses had that Rockstar look and he along with Jim Neidhart made Pink and Black a badass color combination to wear. Bret was pretty right on his promo. He had nerves at first, but as he gained more confidence, he definitely got better. I'd say his promo style was pretty technical and straightforward. If you're a fan of that style, his promo would be insanely high too. 6 to 7, even 8 out of 10 would be fair. In Ring was definitely 10/10 for me when it comes to Bret.

I both understand and hate Bret’s thoughts on Triple H. I get why he dislikes Hunter so much. Despite him being far better and respected as a person now, he was absolutely a garbage person back in the day. And he was one of the biggest masterminds in the screwjob, to the point that he literally was the one to say they should “Do business for him” BUT Trips is a WAY better person now and has owned up to his past. He’s made it clear he doesn’t necessarily regret it all. But he’s owned up to it and admitted he was wrong! And by all accounts today he’s a phenomenal and caring boss! Hell, look at this week. He made sure to pretape smackdown and made sure there were no events at all so wrestlers could get a break and enjoy the holidays for once! He’s also pushing the people who deserve it and have worked for it!! I’d say as far as look: EASILY a 10/10 (just look at the dude!! He screams pro wrestler!!), Promo: Probably 6 or 7/10 (he’s good on the mic and at times one of the best, but a lot of times he seemed to copy and paste on parts. Plus The Rock said it best when he used to make fun of his generic promo voice back in the day! 😂), as skill I’ve always hated Bret’s assumption that he’s a 3/10. Skill: He’s DEFINITELY a solid 8 at the least! Yeah he’s fairly predictable in a lot of matches. But Triple H’s predictable is still damn good!! And he’s shown he can pull out a damn clinic whenever he wants to with zero effort! Look at his matches with Daniel Bryan at Mania, Ambrose at Roadblock, his Matches with Taker. He’s so damn good! Yeah he’s a little self indulgent when it comes to match lengths, but oh well. 🤷‍♂️ Triple H is also (despite Bret’s opinion) a creative genius both in and out of the ring! His ring psychology is top notch. And he’s shown that he has a keen eye for storytelling, especially when it doesn’t pertain to him (weirdly!). Sure he used to be full of ego and made nonsensical decisions to help himself. But he’s shown both later in his own career and especially now that he has a great mind for the business! The product has been great with him at the helm! The guy deserves his hate for how he was from the 90s to 2000s. But from late 2000s to now he’s shown how good he is!

While understandable why he said it, the "when Triple H takes charge" comment didn't age well.

With these vids I’d love it if you put the date of the interview. Bret has done a bunch of interviews and as time has passed he has definitely given more context and/or changed his ratings on a couple guys .

I think a lot of Bret's awesome nuance was lost on me as a kid watching. If I rewatch classic matches I'm sure will marvel at his world class skill and finesse. Ultimate Warrior made the biggest impression on me, it sucks hearing he was difficult to work with and he didn't take care of his fellow wrestlers. That being said, I'm still a Warrior fan for life. His passion and all-out/all-in nature resonates with me to this day. R.I.P.

People talk about Bret looking small and that is pretty weird. He is a huge dude compared to normal people.

On this one, I have to disagree with Bret. HHH drew with Austin, Taker, Rock, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, Batista, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar…etc. Although people can make the argument that it was HHH opponents who really drew, those guys needed a great heel to work with and HHH is one of the greatest heels of all time. He also has built up NXT and made other stars, so I can think Bret should give credit where credit is due.

I agree with everything Brett said until the last bit about HHH. Not sure I've ever heard Brett sound more ignorant than that considering just how well WWE is doing under HHH as creative lead. All these wrestlers talking about how HHH has helped them, same with HBK. Dude is still living in the past.

The look rating doesn't mean biggest, baddest. There has to be an "X" factor. Something you can't put your finger on. People like Bret, Edge, Orton, Angle. The belt always felt at home on those guys

Bret is pretty humble/honest on his ratings. He is my favorite wrestler to watch.

Its funny because HBK has a higher overall ranking due to promo skills, but he and Bret have always seemed equals, the perfect match!

Excellence of execution is an understatement- in ring ability was off the charts, all the moves and bumps were perfect

The thing about Bret's ranking is not all stuff is weighted the same. Promo and looks mean far more than wrestling, and selling means more than how impressive you are technically. It also matters who's your audience. I hated Hogan as a wrestler, but lots of fans loved him. Bret was a good mix but he was never a guy to sell out the arenas or take wrestling to the heights Hogan did.

Keep in mind this was 2019, i'd love to hear what he thinks of things now, especially Drew has upped his promo game lately, that Drew || CM Punk promo was pretty decent last Monday Jan 8th, 2024.

Bret from 1988-1996 improved immensely in look and promo. By 96/97, he was at the top of the card for a reason. At his peak, Bret was a 8/10 on look, 7/10 on promo, and 11/10 on work.

When people like Bret or Jim Cornette rank Shawn Michaels' promos, they always exclusively talk about his work in the 90's. In the 2000's Shawn definitely improved to a 9 out of 10 promo, maybe even 10 out of 10. An absolute GOAT.

Bret's self rating is spot on... he knows his mic skills were okay, his looks were right where he said it was although in my opinion he was a 9... the Pink/black with the leather jacket and the cool sunglasses were awesome for that time!!! and a PERFECT 10 on Wrestling skills!!! YES he was that good... very responsible and the safest to work with inside and outside the ring.

To me Bret was a 10 on look, 9 on mic and 10 on skills. The guy was freaking great.

Triple H began his ascension post Hitman time in the WWF so of course he’s not aware of his abilities as a ring general but everyone he’s worked with in the very late 90s into the 00s has said that he was a ring general. His best friend was Shawn Michaels so I’m sure he was able to pick up a few tips from him along the way.

It took someone that he really hated to bring out his best promo wise. But he made up what he lacked in other categories with a 30/10 for his work. He sold everything, and made everything look so natural yet stunning at the same time. His pacing, his cadence, his striking, his tossing, his bumping, EVERYTHING was as cool and slick as can be. His match with Bulldog is my favorite of all time.

Connive is fitting. Even in HHH interviews of past and present, he is strategic for his come ups on how to remain in Wwe, and marrying Stephanie was his JACK POT to seal his spot in the business, fame, money and control. Few people want to disagree with Brett on HHH but, Brett got it right with using the word Conniving.

Bret Harts look was a 10/10. Those shades were unanimous with him. And the pink and black!

I'd say Hogan was more like a 6 or 7\10 for wrestling if you factor in his Japanese stuff. Only reason his US stuff was more basic was Vince wanted it that way, less chance of him getting injured and to keep the "Rock 'n' Wrestling" gravy train on the tracks for as long as possible, and Hogan was the figurehead for that.

While Brett was lobbying for himself, HHH was meeting or on the phone w/Vince. In fact, b4 his' medical issue, he was putting drew over @WM.

Damn to me as a kid Bret had the besk look, he looks like a rockstar to me as a kid so I gave him 10 for the looks, 7 for the promo and 10 for the wrestling skills. I love his looks with leather jacket, long hair, pink and black, Skull with wings and a heart. One of the coolest looks ever in wrestling.

Bret underrates himself, in 1997 he was the best promo man in the business, or tied with Steve Austin.

Whats ironic here, HHH is uinversally praised for NXT and revitalizing the main brands for WRESTLING. He could not be further wrong HHH's management or his fueds with Batista, Rock, and the Shield. Massively underrated ring performer IMO

I think Bret was very fair here in his ratings, though i would give Stone Cold 10/10 for his look. I thought Bret undervalued himself here. To me part of your look is also ring attire. His pink and black attires were always cool, his jackets and shades were amazing. I would give him a 10. As far as Triple H, Bret might be describing the 1997 Triple H. But he has matured and has a great mind for thrle wrestling business. He did wonders with NXT. He has a right mix of old school wrestling mindset and modern wrestling.

I can agree with a lot of that , although I think Shawn's promo skills are closer to a 9, not a 7, and he's clearly dead wrong about HHH because he's been in control for awhile now and the show had vastly improved since he took over. Much better stories, great matches and feuds. Its been nothing but praise since he took over

Bret had a solid look 8.5/10. Well built, not the biggest guy but still believable enough where you can see him take on bigger guys. The Pink and Black attire is top notch and unique like Hogan's Red and Yellow; you dont think of those color combos in wrestling without thinking of Bret and Hogan. Weakest was his Promos that ranged from 6 out of 10 to about 9 out of 10 during his last WWF run as a heel. Ring work speaks for itself 10 out of 10. Rarely had a bad match, great seller and could win matches with any move so he didn't have to rely on his finisher which provided logic to a match.

I'd give Bret a 8 or 9 on the look. The look is iconic. I used to be really fit, before i had to learn to walk again. If im blessed to build my body up, i really want to halloween cosplay as BtHH.

Bret is the GOAT in my opinion but he’s wrong about Triple H. Bret wasn’t in the company in Triple H’s prime. The guy in his prime was an A+ to an A-talent that got huge reactions and had his hand in storylines and such. His track record lately has been pretty good too.
