Also crazy fact Kurt Warner was there at the training camp going against Brett Favre, they went with Favre but look what happened then in 1999 Kurt Warner wins the Superbowl with the Rams, best story ever.
+Alan R That's because Kurt Warner wasn't really known by anyone he was an undrafted free agent no one knew that he was going to be when he became. At that time for but still a way better quarterback than Warner was.
+VINCE SAVAGE It doesn’t matter Brett Favre was the quarterback. All those other guys we’re good quarterback’s but Favre was the man for the Packers you never went down with an injury so there’s never going to be away he was going to lose his job. It’s actually better that those other quarterbacks went to other teams because they wouldn’t never been the starter in Green Bay.
He was a brilliant Defensive Coordinator but he wasn’t a good HC…he and Buddy Ryan were very similar in that they were better as assistants than head coaches
Funny how Favre came from Atlanta, which had Andre Rison when Brett was there, then Favre actually threw a long Super Bowl TD to Rison, who eventually came to Green Bay too!
He was a backup the Packers also cut Kurt Warner for nothing when he was Favres backup. If you dont need someone to start your view of them is different.Even the Packers didnt need Favre when they got him and trading a 1st was sooo much for a backup who some thought was a drunk. Even Mooch said himself they had a pro bowl starter in a sense.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants um actually Ron wolf traded for him because he wanted him to start. Majikowski would have been traded or put on the bench eventually. He was only good in 1989.
@@DanRaidersWarriorsSharksGiants yeah but it's a big difference at that point farve have proven that he was their QB of the Future he was already playing like a MVP
Edward Brito He was an alcoholic and slept during practice, also didn’t remember plays. That’s why he was traded. It was like a wake up call for Favre. Best thing that happened to him.
It's amazing how much luck factors into things sometimes. Had the other kid taken the scholarship, Brett never would've gotten a chance. Had he not been traded and THEN have Green Bay's starter get injured, he may never had the chance.
Thank you Glanville for not believing in him and bringing him to the Packers. I was actually taught how to eat crawdads by his brother Jeff at Brett Favre Steakhouse. My ex gf's uncle was his signing manager and got his autograph. Thank you Brett for being a legend in Wisconsin.
As a Bears fan this was one of the worst trades in NFL history. That Farve kicked our ass up and down the field but hats off to Farve he was one hell of a quarterback, just wish he and now Aaron Rodgers would take it easy on my Bears.
Put Steve Young in that boat in sorta kinda way, Young, a first round pick to the Yuccaneers, he was getting hit all the time, and in typical Tampa style blame the QB for the team's failures. Tampa cuts Young loose or whatever the case may be, he goes to San Francisco, he's already got talent and to bring him in with probably one of the best to ever play QB, Joe Montana. Well, you know all the rest.
What always cracked me up was the fact that…what made me realize Atl held Brett in such low regard at the time , was the fact that they had him wearing a RB type face mask 😂I kid you not
Glanville is the Vince Lombardi of alienating players, fans, and local media. He's really entertaining right up to the point he gets your team bounced in the first round of the playoffs running garbage like "Stagger Lee."
Still unbelievable to me that the packers traded a 1st round pick for a guy that was pretty obviously out of shape and not focused on football. What an amazing job by their GM.
I love that Jerry Glanville never worked another day in the NFL after he was fired in 1993 for how well Favre was playing. Brett sends Ron Wolf to the Hall of Fame for trading for him, and Glanville never sets foot in the NFL again. Pretty epic.
One of the best QBs of all time. Definitely top and they not only ducked his name up but treated him as a chump. The Falcons are one of the worst run franchises in history.
Nyght Ryder actually Favre was showing up to practices drunk and sleeping during meetings, he didn’t even show up for the 91 falcons team picture so you can’t blame glanville for not starting Favre but Brett then became one of the greatest
To be fair to Glanville (it was an idiotic decision, IMO--keep in mind, though, that Atlanta drafted Favre against Glanville's wishes), Brett Favre DID struggle in 1991 (and he was drinking and partying in those days--a LOT of players did so, to be fair)--Favre himself said he understood why Atlanta traded him to Green Bay. When he got under Mike Holmgren's coaching in Green Bay, that's when his talent emerged... But, yeah, Glanville had a habit of making idiotic decisions as a head coach...
"Favre" is actually a French name meaning ironworker or craftsman...kind of like Smith from blacksmith, which "smith" means "smyte" = to strike with firm/heavy blow!
It might be a reference to Outkast as in the rappers Andre 3000 and Big Boi who are from Atlanta, but I don't see how that's relevant to the video at all.
Think I can speak for all falcons fans that this was are biggest mistake EVER letting him go. But how was we to know that and wonder how many SB rings we would of had
The Atlanta Falcons would be two time Super Bowl Champions and the GB Packers don't rebound until 2005 when they draft Aaron Rodgers number one overall
Jerry was a funny man that's for sure with the Mississippi nickname 😂 but he had to be completely blind as far as quarterback talent goes 😂 he let one of the best deep ball quarterbacks in history walk 🚶♂️ 😂 SMH
If a QB puts up 24-35 pts and they lose it's the Defense fault. Favre usually put points up only game I remember was vs Rams he blew it. 1 int doesn't make a game.
