This is by far the best "coffee machine" I have ever purchased. Will not go back to anything else. Just fantastic.

I purchased this machine (Sage Precision) 4 days back. It's indeed an excellent coffee maker. Only downside I found is not enough hot coffee. Though it supports 98 degree celsius, I found the extracted coffee is not enough hot.

What happens if you just press start without fiddling with the dial? Which program do you get? Do you need to press it once to wake it up and then again to start? I’m wanting to automate my coffee maker with a switchbot button pusher so will only be able to press the button. The Moccamaster would be easier to automate with a smart plug but oh it’s ugly! I really don’t want to look at that thing every day! Are there any other models with just a switch that I should consider? I saw the Bonavita. It could work for me. I would rather the Breville though as I have a couple of other appliances from them in the same range. And it’s beautiful.

Hi, I'm keen to see how you make the pour over mode work. I've found with my single cup V60 it is hard to get a slow enough brew time and really easy to have it overfill the cup. I can't find any guides from Breville on how to manage that and no other guides elsewhere.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
Hi Adrian, my first thought is perhaps coarsen the grind up slightly to allow the water to pass through quicker. Increase water temp too may help the water flow quicker.. but other than this, you've only got the pre-infusion HOLD time to change and you may find a better flow rate if this is extended but I've never experimented with this.. worth a try

not meant to leak sadly - this may be a broken part on the machine - either repair with your local dealer or replacement

How does it compare to the Technivorm Moccamaster?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
Hi Jason - We'll have to do that video! my initial thoughts are that the Moccamaster V-style filter slightly out performs to Breville.. shower head on the Breville is better though. Temperature Stability they're both fairly similar - I do enjoy adding a bloom time and lowering the temperature on the brew myself.. so Breville was good - There needs to be a love child of these two units though :D because I do use both for seperate reasons..

can you please make a video on how to properly descale this specific coffee maker??????
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 года назад
Hi Kevin, thanks for the request! I can certainly help 👍 You can be using this 👉 alternativebrewing.com.au/product/cafetto-liquid-organic-descaler/ You just need to place 50ml in the water tank and I'll usually run it throw a brew cycle (without coffee) returning to the water tank and running through twice - then 2-3 Water cycles no chemicals to flush it out will do the trick 👌
@jenniferhargrave9747
@jenniferhargrave9747 3 года назад
Looking to purchase this coffee machine, however, if the water tank is not removable, how would I wash the inside of it. It would obviously need to be washed when I first get it being that it has gone through production. Thx for your time.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 года назад
Yes, this is true. I would recommend using clean water and running a few cycles through and then wiping out the inside with a clean cloth to clean it out. YOu can add a small amount of descaler or sanitizer to the unit, only a small amount and ensure you always flush with fresh water after you clean.
@mdem5059

You'd think the Strong mode and Over Ice would be pretty much the same, no? They are both just infused for a lot longer so you can dilute it later with either ice or milk, seems silly to have two modes for pretty much the same end result.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
I believe the Strong mode heats up the water more too though ... where as the over ice uses a cooler water around 94ºc.
@mdem5059
@mdem5059 4 года назад
@@AlternativeBrewing So 'over ice' uses water at around 2-3c lower than Strong? That's only about 1-2 extra small ice cubes worth of ice, still don't think it's worth a whole extra menu. They should should remove over ice and just keep Strong to make it cleaner. The easier and cleaner a menu is the better for everybody.

give it a good rinse out with hot water - or descaler - this can help significantly remove any coffee that's slowly been turning rancid

Is this coffee maker quiet? I am interested one that does not gurgle and spit loudly when the coffee is done and does not have a beep. My current Cuisinart drip coffee maker makes good coffee but wakes up the whole house brewing. Thanks.
@moniquem783
@moniquem783 Год назад
Have you found the answer to this? I have 2 other appliances from this range from Breville. A Combi microwave and a bread maker. Both have a mute button to stop beeps. The microwave has gentle tones rather than harsh beeps and no reminder beeps if you don’t open the door straight away. Knowing that, I would expect that this would be fairly quiet as someone at Breville obviously understands that noises cause problems for people. I have hyperacusis and beeps etc cause me pain so I adore my Breville appliances. Only reason I’m holding off ordering this coffee maker is because I want to automate it and tell Siri to make me a coffee when I first wake up so it’s ready by the time I’ve cuddled the dog and gotten up, so I need to be sure I can achieve that.

Does the Thermal Carafe have a heating plate underneath of it? If it doesn't, how does will the carafe keep the coffee warm for? Thanks.
@AlternativeBrewing

It's an insulated Carafe (double wall vacuum I believe.) - that keeps coffee hot for hours! - there's no hot plate.

Do you know if the cold brew option makes concentrate or ready to drink?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 2 года назад
that depends on the brew ratio you use. If you go for the max capacity in bot water and ground coffee - I would say it would need a dilution of 1:1 minimum - but if you add less coffee to begin with - than you could be drinking it straight.
@brynnn2804
@brynnn2804 2 года назад
Thanks for the reply…I was going by the Breville directions which say 12 scoops for 20oz of water which is the max cold brew it allows you to make. So this would need to be diluted?

The temperature of coffee that comes out of the brewer is 155⁰. Is my breville broken?
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 3 года назад
I'm guessing that's -fahrenheit - and you can program the brewing temp to a default setting - check there first to see if this is the issue or yes consider a good decale of the unit may help fix the issue as well.
@seapanther53
@seapanther53 3 года назад
@@AlternativeBrewing yes Fahrenheit lol. Unfortunately descaling isn't the issue, I've only had it for a few weeks and only use filtered water. Looking into this more, I am seeing the brew being way under temperature and producing flat tasting coffee is a common thread. Today, I decided to buy a Café coffee maker and a Technivorm to compare and see which one is better regarding temperature accuracy and I'm sending the Breville back. It's a shame bc I really really like all the features and options, I even just got the pour over attachment as a gift, but brewer as a whole is way too inconsistent. 👨

@seapanther53 3 года назад
@@chuckdearruda6271 I've since tried two other coffee brewers; the Café by GE and Technivorm Moccamaster. Both are great. The Café has a lot more features whereas the moccamaster just does one thing, turns on and off via a switch for drip coffee. Moccamaster doesn't even have an auto brewer feature so your coffee will be ready in the morning for you. However, the moccamaster does their one thing better than the Café and their build quality, long history, and supportive community led me to keeping it over the Café. As for the not having a the simple auto brew feature, this was a non-issue for me bc I like my coffee as fresh as possible, so I grind my own beans right before brewing them instead of having the grinds sit exposed over night. I feel Technivorm had this type of market in mind when building the moccamaster. I am very pleased with it and also happy it isn't made in China. Hope this helps you in your decision.

How do you re-heat with this brewer? Good outro music btw.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 2 года назад
Re-heat? - or pre-heat? .... Pre-heating can be done by just running through a cycle without any coffee - you could also wet your filter this way - than just top up the tank again and discard the pre-heat water to begin brewing 😀

What is your custom brew settings, as well coffee to water ratio? Thank you!
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
Hi Matt, a standard brew ratio I would use is 1:16.5 for these styles of brewers.. or simply 15g for every 250ml of water. I would have the water at 95ºc, bloom time 40 seconds and pour-rate to be Medium... careful of your grind setting so as it doesn't back fill

ANNOUNCEMENT: The Breville Precision Brewer - No longer comes with the Single Cup Pour over Adapter Ring.
@JannisGundermann
@JannisGundermann 4 года назад
How well does it do for pre-programmed (i.e. the basket setup, not the V60 adapter setup) single-cup brews? I currently have a Moccamaster and find that the quality of the brew is not particularly good at ratios under ~36g @ 600ml. Is the showerhead fixed or does it rotate/move while it pours to avoid channeling in the center of the cone? Again, with my Moccamaster, I have to manually stir or I will see major channeling around the centerline where the water spout is.
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
Hi Jannis, Yeah I know what you mean with the moccamaster channelling, this amongst everything else is my biggest gripe with the MM. although I'm still able to get tasty brews it's inconsistent sometimes due to this negative channelling. The Breville performed very well for single cup pour overs. The shower head they've gotten right , and is directed either in the a triangle or square arrangement and at least covers half the area of a two cup V60 (for example) - that way you don't have water directed straight on to the sides nor do you have it facing straight down. It does not rotate however.. it is fixed. With the Breville I did a 15g Kalitawave brew - 30 second bloom .. 94ºc... total 260g out in 3mins.. tasty
@JannisGundermann
@JannisGundermann 4 года назад
@@AlternativeBrewing That's great to hear! Have you tried a pre-programmed single cup? That would be a handy thing on some busier mornings in the house :) Two more questions if you don't mind: 1) Did you do your single cup with the standard basket or used your Kalita via the adapter kit? 2) Is there some kind of overflow control system? Assuming I may have pre-ground my coffee a bit too fine for my pre-programmed brew cycle and the water doesn't drain quickly enough, would it eventually overflow or is there a scale built into the basket holder for example that ensures a max fill limit isn't exceeded? Cheers!
@AlternativeBrewing
@AlternativeBrewing 4 года назад
Yes the single cup pre- programming was excellent. I used the both both the Kalita in pourover mode and the single basket in regualr brewing modes... single basket is similar to the MM in terms of volume/extraction/flavour. Kalita wave had a little more of the brew method's flavour characteristics which I enjoyed. I never had the issues of over-flowing.. I did wonder this. There is maximum water capacities built in to the water tank, if you fill above these - some of the smaller brew methods are deactivated. Still if you had our grind very fine, then this may fill back. I'll have to check this one out for you and get back. It is likely people will use store ground coffee that's too fine for drip coffee, and this could create issues. Thanks for the questions!
@lawnmowerman2199
@lawnmowerman2199 4 года назад
Hi Jannis, Thank you so much for your comment I find the same challenge with my moccamaster.... I also have to stir to avoid the channeling and all the taste problems that come with. I was wondering how many times and for how long do you stir during brewing? I brew 1l at a time, medium grind, my first stir is at 45 seconds and my second stir is when there are two cups of water left in water reservoir. Thanks for your response just curious as to how other people are dealing with this
