I was offered a used B80 with many extensions today, looks like it definitely hits the sweet spot between automation (pumps, temp. regulation) and hands-on brewing. And I _love_ the concave floor! Cleaning will never be easier.

Thanks for showing the clean up. This really can make a difference in what system a user chooses but is often overlooked in reviews.

Third time i have watched this video and think i now understand how to have the 2 left hand side 3 way valves and pipework set up on brew day...i was struggling to get my head around the valve/lever setup for the mash, sparge and boil, and before the 10 minute CFC sanitation, after watching this things are suddenly much clearer for me, think i'll do the first brewday on my B40 between xmas and new year...maybe a video on the correct pipework setup and lever positioning during the different phases of the brewday would be a good subject for us newbies ;-) Lovin the content btw...

@@PortlyGentleman Pleasure Bradley, after using the Grainfather, which compared to the Brewtools brewkit, is relatively simple to use, getting the configuration/levers/power setup correctly positioned is a big deal imo, so easy to kind of get lost with the lever positions at certain phases of the brewing process, a basic step by step walkthrough with both 2 and 3 three way valve setups will i think be invaluable to new users of BT equipment...

Down here in Australia we're 240v and my shed is limited to about 20 amps. This steam hat probably makes it possible to run a B80 with both coils @ 10 amp. Thanks for the video!
@PortlyGentleman
@PortlyGentleman 5 лет назад
I think you should be able to get away with that no problem ! I had mine at 240 volts set to 13 amps . I'm fairly certain 10 amps Will be no problem!

I always thought you weren't supposed to cover a brew kettle while boiling. What's the steam hat for? A quick web search only took my to sites that sold them without explanation. Do you attach them to an extractor of some sort?
@LouB3rt
@LouB3rt 4 года назад
Awesome Video man! Why don't you use the Grainfather for sparging water? set the timer to go on in the morning and have it heat to the desired temperature then pump it into the BT. I actually have an old Mash & Boil that I am planning on using for sparge water. Keep up the videos!
@PortlyGentleman
@PortlyGentleman 4 года назад
I tried that The delayed heating function was kind of buggy. It also struggles to heat more than 7.5 gallons of water in a reasonable amount of time. Remember I'm using the US 120 v version.

Hi Bradley. Where did you get your brew table from. The table that your B80 sits on. And could you give me it’s dimensions please? I’ve just bought a B80 and that looks perfect for what I need. Does it have casters?
@BagsbyBagsofStyle

why is it that a 20 minute rest after doughing in is recommended? is this rest done at the desired mash temperature or do you dough in at a lower temperature, rest for 20 mins and then raise to the actual mash temperature? I see this 20 minute rest recommendation made quite often without explanation as to why its needed. Nice clear videos but would be great to see an overview video of how you've set the system up in terms of the various taps and valves.
@PortlyGentleman
@PortlyGentleman 4 года назад
I could definitely make something like that. To the best of my knowledge the purpose of the mash rest. It's too loud the green bed to settle out. I admit it first I was little irritated about having to do this. But I've gotten over it pretty quickly 😉

Hi Bradley - Have you used the Brewtools Steam Condenser assembly? If so what were your thoughts and how much water does it require? Thanks

I'm wondering how much your setup actually cost. It's hard to get an idea about Brewtools price, because there is so many different accessories to buy. So do you have a ballpark for the price of your setup? Thanks for the videos!

Truthfully I don't really have an exact idea either I've peace it together over quite a few months.

Hello Bradley, another great video. A very basic question for you, which side of the Counterflow cooler, do I connect my COLD water supply....??
@PortlyGentleman
@PortlyGentleman 4 года назад
Thank you I have mine connected to the lowermost water port. I'm pretty sure you want to have the cold water and the wart running in opposite directions.

Question for ya, when you say you recommend a 20 min mash rest, are you referring to a protein rest?

What's the diameter of the steam hat? I don't have a Brewtools system but I need a hat like that for my brew kettle to help with my steam issues.

How you think, what is biggest batch possible on B80? I think about IPA or ALE beer style.

African Twin What can you advise? what to make 400 liters of beer per month?
@africantwin173
@africantwin173 5 лет назад
@@DraGon-cg6ge that depends on your space, electric power, size fermantation vessels, time, wallet, beer style etc etc. A speidel 500 cost you €27.000. A Brewtools B150 liter under 5.000 euro. But then you need to brew 3 to 4 times with one B150 low abv beers. Thats atleast 5 to 8 hours per session. Im still learning this craft style brewing. So from my perspective i wouldt go for something that i can build and repair easily. Brewtools computers can go down. Because off the heath. Their service is great. If you have money, go look at SS Brewtech 5BBL. CIP cleaning, Unitanks. BrewPi. If i would live in the USA then maby a Brewha Biac can be someting. Maybe renting a 10 Hectoliter micro brewery to do a few batches. Is it legal or illegal distribution . All factors that count. People talk, so a rental brewery would not be a option if you would sell beers to thirsty friends without tax. Selling beer can be a exciting game with the law. David Heath has worked with big brewery's. Ask this nice norwegian man what he thinks. He has the experience. Im just a newby that wants to brew ipa beers because its cheaper that way. 1 bottle here cost almost €4 euro.
