@octopus34 I was always blown away by his '72 version. It got alot of air play on LA black stations and reached #1. Had a vocal track but was very difficult to make out lyrics.

could I suggest the other cover of FJD by Alain Caron? (live version the best) for me the piano solo is one of the most similar in inspiration as the original brian's solo in the studio version of FDJ from the album "second wind" ... but, of course, I will die with in my ears the first version of Brian's FDJ with Alex Ligertwood, the true state of grace...

Brian is the greatest but this version of FJD isn't. 'Unfortunately', I know this masterpiece from the 1974 Doldinger Jubilee Tour in Germany where he was backed by two fantastic drummers (Pete York & Curt Cress) + bass and another keyboard player. OMG, all hell broke loose in just 2:30 minutes!
