While in Kentucky we stopped by Brian Blocks place to see his Barn Shop and all of his machinery! It was great to finally see the shop after watching him build it the past few years.

Really cool shop and I enjoyed the tour. That guy has some pretty serious machines for doing work on larger jobs. If I had some big stuff needing machined I would certainly see what he could do. :-)

When Brian says he might just jack up a barn and move it, you don't know whether he's kidding or planning his weekend. Nice job Adam. I don't know why, but his shop and equipment seem a lot more gargantuan when somebody else is running the camera.

It is very important to pass on the old tradition of how America was made when big wars and big equipment broke out. I am a young man at the age of 29 and I have for the past year been saving old milling equipment as to an old Bradford lathe, 16 inch south end lathe, a Cincinnati horizontal mill, and now I just saved a ex cello 602 vertical mill. And I am going to get more. Great work on these videos and the great individuals that still keep the China machines out of the metal shop.

Got to be one of the most anticipated videos and man, it didn't disappoint. Brian's property is great, so much history and little bits and pieces hidden all over the place. Got to be one of the nicest guys out there as well. Thanks Adam for taking us on a tour and thats Brian for opening up the property for us all to check out! Next time I'm heading south out of IL on my way to "freeer" states, I'll be sure to send you a msg and see if you're around.

I just might next time I am passing through. Depending on how this semester goes at school (taking some night classes), if this class doesn't work out I am likely heading down to the Cape (FL) for some R&R (Rockets and Relaxation lol). If that happens, I'll plan it out so I can swing by and put in some work and hang out for a bit as well. As for Mr Pete's meet n greet. I never heard about it so not sure when it is. We don't live too far from each other. Hes down near Ottawa, IL and I am in Aurora; bout 40 miles.

Ran a G&L about 45 years ago with a 6 inch spindle. Great machines, we had one of the first digital readouts on it. Back then we had to keep the power supply for the readout in the office so it would stay cool. Lucas also made a horizontal boring mill but they are left handed, meaning the head and table face the opposite way as a G&L. Third generation machinist thanks for the videos they bring back memories.

Just poked around on Autotrader and found some 51 all original Chevy Deluxe's with 5 digit price tags. A beauty for sure. Great tour. Never knew Brian had so much nice stuff. Looking at the crane structure and all the construction in the barn amazes me knowing that Brian did _all_ of it by himself, or at least 99% of it. Thanks for the video.

I love the videos!! I’ve been a M.E. for 20+years and I still learn from good machinist. I always tell new design engineers to hang out in the machine shop as much as possible and learn the operations. This knowledge helps so much when they get back to CAD. You’re doing a great service. Thanks. I’d gladly hang a Abom stick in the office.

@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 5 лет назад
Back in the days when we only had stock cylinder heads I built engines that ran 300psi of boost with 3 stages of turbos. Now we make a lot more power with half the boost. If we thru 300psi to one of todays motors the block would blow in half pretty much instantly. There is a lot of cylinder pressure/torque in one of those things!
@user-tw9io9nz2m
@user-tw9io9nz2m 5 лет назад
I had no idea, I knew old big american engine blocks were strong but that's amazing! Also amazing is that you have all that machinery to build and fix pretty much whatever you want provided you have the time.
