In this right to repair video I take on a major job rebuilding a Deere tractor swivel frame. This thing has lived a high stress life pulling double dirt pans and it shows. Every bore but one was oversized and damaged. Follow along as I turn this junk part into something useable again. Thanks for watching!

Always amazed at the large scale of your machines. Especially with my limited training & experience on 9" to 13" lathes & bridgeport type mills. Large machines can do large scale jobs, the right tool for the job, I get it! Thanks Brian for showing what you do.

Brian u need a Turn Table,you might have been able to do all the work in one set up u dont lock spindle in position and feed the (w) table I operated a Lucas DCP 20 with 72 inch travel on X and Y, It was an NC control not CNC YES, TO ALL YOUR TROLLS LAST TIME I COMMENTED IM NOT PICKING ON THIS MAN,would make it alot easier to machine parts like this also have operated a Develeig Jig Mill

That HBM is sure paying for itself, would be a lot more hours trying to do that with a line boring rig. Do you ever rebuild bores with hard facing weld?
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 3 месяца назад
No. If you used hard face I don’t think you could machine it with much short of a grinder. Maybe cbn would cut it but it hates intermittent cuts and there usually is a lot of that in a welded bore. You ever bored hard face?

That is what I said a guy with a good burn table and some fixtures could probably build one in the time it took me to repair it. That being said it of course would have still needed the machine work so…… Regardless I work with the tools I have so it’s the route I took.

Nice one Brian!! Do you weld the bores up manually or do you have the machine to set up and weld for you?
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 3 месяца назад
I would like to have an automated bore welder but that is a big investment. I currently am saving to have a ceiling and proper heating and cooling first.
@cumminsnchevy
@cumminsnchevy 3 месяца назад
Yup I definitely understand that, I’m in the process of building a shop so I can stop working on stuff out in the elements getting tired of it. The company that I used to work for had 20 cat 980 wheel loaders and during winter maintenance I would go through pins, bushings and possible line bore, split the tractor apart, the guy they had do the line boring had the automated welder it was cool to watch, so fast after set up. Any updates on old yeller?
@bcbloc02
@bcbloc02 2 месяца назад
@@cumminsnchevy I ordered some 17" rims for the back since the tires are junk and I have lots of access to 17" wheels taken off new trucks hardly anybody runs 16 stuff anymore. Sadly even though I ordered them in February they aren't supposed to ship till the end of this month. I struggle to find time to work on it anyway. I want to take it to Turoghbreds dyno event in May but not sure I will have it back together by then. It runs and drives now but has no turbos or intake system. It needs a couple of days of work.
@cumminsnchevy
@cumminsnchevy 2 месяца назад
Yes I’m still running weld typhoon 16s myself but I know I’m gonna have to switch once they stop making the tires I like only a matter of time, I don’t know how you do as much as you do, you must never sleep😂 but thanks for the update and good luck!🍀
