I saw Brian last week at Skankfest. There was an issue with one of the scheduled podcast at the beginning of the day they just had a round robin of various comedians do about 15 minutes. Brian absolutely leveled the place. Definitely leaning into some weird Vegas lounge act like a Buddy Hackett or Don Rickles with a sprinkling of Tony Clifton and LSD. I don't know, but amazing energy and silliness. He looks much different now than he does in this video. I bumped into him in the hallway before he did another set and told him he was an absolute nut and how much I thoroughly enjoyed his set; he didn't even acknowledge the compliments he just leaned in and asked me if I wanted a sticker and handed me a sticker of a cartoon likeness of himself. Then he went on and did a second set of different but equally deranged material. One of my favorite moments of the entire festival.
I was on a show with Brian at Skankfest and he was by far the nicest dude I met all weekend! I was bummed that I had never heard of the dude until meeting him. Amazing comic
For any of you who are judging this act now in 2017, I want you to know: In 2006, we used to see Brian do two sets a night at the Comedy Store, every night. It was always hit or miss, but when he hit his groove and the audience was on board, it was fucking magic. Fuck, watching him taught the rest of us a lot about comedy and how to be fearless.
I bet that was a magical experience to see him twice nightly. I perform myself and have a tendency to rant in a raised voice so I appreciate his fire. What an absolute treasure he is
The more he bombs with the audience, the more bigoted he is and the angrier he becomes the funnier his act is. It's not for everyone but for the people who get it, they love it.
+I'm A Nice Guy What part of "it's not for everyone" didn't you get? You don't have to find him funny or intelligent but I'm guessing your not necessarily qualified to judge that yourself
+I'm A Nice Guy It's a form of comedy popular at the time. it doesn't translate to millennial minded folk. It's... dated but still hilarious if you know what your witnessing.
He is funny, but I guess a closet ho- mmo, as he says at the end, that he only eats 2 things. Either a sick side-product of the elite who kicked him out the circle to show his chops, or a closet gay. Thats what I can come up with.
I worked with Brian for many years in the 90's at the Comedy Store. He was a comics comic, many would sit back and marvel at his sheer not GAF on stage. Man I miss those days
He's a comic's comic. And a very good one. He's not being racist. It's an act. He's above racism. Most of the audience aren't, though, that's why it's funny.
I thought he was funny as hell ! He takes everyone's comfort level and threw it out the door . He's the voice in your head when you read the paper and just say to your self REALLY FUCKING REALLY PEOPLE !!!!!
7:33 "They don't start joining organizations with the other....tiger moms. 'My cub is...my cub has been...' YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN? AUDIENCE??!" Bahahaha!!!
Im here because I listened to a Joe Rogan podcast today with Ari Shaffir and they mentioned he did a joke about 9/11 on 9/15 and how he doesn't give a fuck. So I knew he was my kinda guy.
