I'm doing my CERT IV Building and Construction at TAFE. I'm an ICT Project Manager swapping over to construction so; I'm learning this tradework from scratch. This was a great video showing the technique of levels and for me, showing the two different Ties from the existing wall to new brickwork and for the new brickwork to the block work Stu put in later!

Nice wall ties! We usually use standard ones that get nailed on by a one inch concrete nail. Usually results in a smashed thumb and soiled pants.

Nice neat work. Must point out to anyone watching as a tutorial that any airbricks on the house (if suspended floor) must be sleaved under the floor slab to the outside with pipe. Happy bricklaying!

Nice job. If was a house, 100mm cavities are a must. I have been a bricklayer 24 years now. The regs change so often changed. So always look into these before starting.

video quality is superb, the video editing is suprb (loved the little spider lol) The brickwork is top class, full joints and ver neat along with the pointing. The only thing i would have done different, is cut a vertical joint where the conservatory goes, and inserted a DPC. Probably would never get damp through, but that just one thing i have always stuck to doing. Nice job there though matey. Thumbs up from me.

When you're laying to the line pull the brick and lift the heal of brick a little to get a nice full head joint instead of just pushing the brick down, another tell tale sign of not a full joint is waves in your striking. Other then that nice job also invest in a pan and stand

I’ve got to build same thing but mine as got to have 4 walls . 4 wood stumps for a roof. I’ve done small brick jobs like steps a small wall and it’s all thanks to ppl like you that got me to say sod it learn to bricklaye so thank you 🙏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

how do you set the corner levels? before pulling up the line.water level?

With the laser level, we go round each corner find the highest point and mark down which corners need picking up 👍

You are good enough to start at the top ,contact a few big contractors in Perth ( must be Perth climate question ) as apprentice boss or similar . When you see how their system works you will soon learn the money is on the tools . When you have the contacts ,life becomes a lot easier. Best of luck ! stu crompton

Some more tidy facework! Saw one of your other videos today, a few people tried it on with me when I was apprentice, not for long!! But the boss/foreman wasn’t happy with me being on the trowel, I was there as cheap labour....
