I’m a sparky myself but this fella, has his head screwed on, love watching the videos mate, you got a serious head and also loves the banter, keep up the videos and good luck with the home build. 👍🏻
Whatever your trade, this is the best advice you will ever hear.Unions get a bad reputation but they have the access to the best legal advice money can buy.Brilliant video mate.
Tip top advice ! You only learn this stuff properly the hard way so these wise words are great for people to avoid it all ! I only do private work myself don’t touch commercial! Top man 👍🏻👍🏻
Out of all the videos Iv watched on RU-vid you are by far one of the best I actually like and listen to Respect mate Iv watched this even tho I know how to price but even those little tips will help me from now on 👍🏼👌🏼🧡
Awesome advise champ so true , We all learn the hard way, I to never took shit , did a good job better then most. But I to was fare. Once someone tried to use me in no uncertain terms I let them no , your experience will help so many brickies and other trades. Love your work and videos.cheers👍👋
Great advice taken onboard. Started on my own a year ago on the domestic side. No wonky customers yet but I hear the stories so the booking fee is quality. Thank you.
When you say you interview them that’s exactly what I do if I don’t like the client I don’t work for them and it’s served me well for a very long time you’re totally Wright 👍
brilliant video love it i just recently finished my apprenticeship and this is very well good thing to know when i plan on pricing a private job in some time
Thanks for taking the time to make the video, one aspect of bricklaying that I was never taught about when I was younger and served my time, I had to figure out myself. This will help the next generation coming. Greetings from Ireland 🇮🇪👌
You could further this by going through pricing, when you price m2 to brick or block, and when looking at the job/plans if there is slow work or tricky work how would you price that in the overall job. I do a m2 count and if there is slow and tricky work I charge more based on that. Some people do a solid count through opes and charge, some charge per lintel and cills in opes with a cut off point if the opes are very big. Curious to what way you do it. Great channel, looking for forward to seeing it grow brother. 👍😁
Well said Ttb, like yourself I have moved towards the domestic market in the last few years and am enjoying it, smaller money but more job satisfaction and less stress tbh I can't cope with all the red tape and bullshit that comes with site work anymore it's like prison with all the rules . Quality before Quantity, keep up the good work mate 👍.
Couldn't have put it better myself, much the same as I work, we stopped working for companies about 5 years ago when one tried to have us over before Christmas, had to get naughty same as you don't take that shit, good Vid Dean 👍
very good video im a brickie 25 experince years but always something to learn in our game pal ,good job you do on here helping young lads find how it all works
Good advice mate, when your young you take it personally if you don’t get a job but I’m an old git now and it’s literally take it or leave it and don’t barter
Dino, good advice and I was not aware about the non-refundable deposit bit, fortunately I never fell ill to this although that is not to say that I have never been turned over. Retired now.
Great advice - also remember if you drop your price others might expect too and don't take on more than you can realistically handle. I've known firms that take on too much get out of their depth and either struggle or go under.Weather can be a make or break at times and make sure you have a fair amount of finances to fall back on if someone knocks you or things just don't go right.Know your limit and as the man said sometimes best to walk away and not start a job at all.
Fantastic video mate! Very informative..these videos are just important if not more important than your bricklaying tip videos. Dont feel like this stuff is taught or even spoke about..every bricky I know has had to learn the "hard way" Have a good week fella! Keep up the top videos and the sensible talk😊👍😊
Really good content, do you think you could do another one down the line we’re you talk through the way you price a job? Weather you do square metre or like how long it takes you and materials ect?
Would you say having a big squad can be effective for pricing jobs , even though for example they aren’t making you as much money or just covering their wages etc they can keep you in with the right contracts and contacts?
Am big fan of the way you are just like my old man. Could answer question quicker than Google full of knowledge. If people listen to what you have to say they would prosper big time uno. I take on board everything ur saying its all helpful stuff. Can i say thank you for taking your time to make these videos stayed blessed. PS. When you're doing a self-build does HSE come into play?
Allo Chris Hope your well Thank you for taking the time to give me compliments. No matter what job you do always implement some HSE as I’ve had it before where one of the neighbours made a complaint on a small extension we was doing and we got a visit . However I am guilty of not wearing masks or high vis 👌
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 one HSE man well-known in Manchester not say his name. said if its private site then you could be 60ft up a ladder in high wind 🤣 and theres nout they could do about it as long as no one is there getting payed hse dose applie. And thank you for taking your time to reply back to me 🧱🧱 #TTB #OLDSCHOOL
Brilliant advice. Boils my blood that people judge our intellectual content by our attire. Us Brickies are a bit more switched on than most give us credit for.
I really needed this. I recently took on a porcelain patio project for a commercial company under another subcontractor. I was only priced to lay the porcelain. I followed lines set by the commercial contractor as instructed as the sub base only stretched to these parameters. I laid nearly half the job and the works were not square at a branching footpath point which were pointed out by myself earlier. To which the contracts manager said I'd be fine adding a slice and branching off. The client picked this up and realised the original setting out was wrong. I completed my works in the morning and was set to continue the path as instructed. After the realisation all work had to be ripped up and I lost out on the rest of my day. This happened today and I still haven't had conformation on pay or amendments to my price with cleaning and relaying the tiles.
You should only do 30 day payments for company's you can get a credit rating on or company's you do regular work for .New work should be deposit then 2 weekly intrims as I learned the hard way.
@@thetraditionalbricklayer9650 also a day in the life a good vid and like OTHER RU-vid weekly video get your subscribers up even tho your not like that and here to help us thank for tip just want to see MORE
Jobs have to be priced differently. Some jobs you will charge per brick and block. Highly detailed work is harder to price and sometimes i prefer to agree a day rate or try and estimated how long it would take and give myself some grace. Either way make sure its all agreed and everyone happy before you start.
Wouldn't it be great if everyone was honest. It's sad that tradesman have to factor in the chance of non payment, or having in the back of your mind the customer may do something sneaky. If I ever hire a tradesman at my house, I pay them in full, in cash the moment they finish the job.
