As a designer of wild west train I need to ensure you that it is movable, and will be ready for motorization :)

The Wild West Train is by the same designer (llucky) that did the General Store for Series 1. He actually has a couple other wild west themed buildings (sheriff's office, post office, blacksmith, train station), which together he calls "Lucky Town." Most were already submitted to the Bricklink Designer Program and/or Lego Ideas. The Sheriff's Office's was already rejected from both programs, but is available now on Rebrickable.

I like the Medieval Seaside Market best, but I don't know if I'll get it since I will be bankrupt if I get the 5 sets I want from Series 2 & 3. (I may forget I said that next February when I'm rushing to pre-order it.) The Siege Encampment seems to have a high piece count for what looks like nothing but side builds. The Riverside Scholars has a very unique look. I like it, but just to look at and not buy. The train and the ship have interesting qualities, but they're not something I will buy.

How was the Riverside Scholars selected... It has a mediocre look at best & there were just so many other great designs they could have selected instead of this. 3 medieval sets is also too many. We need a variety of different themed builds. I'm all for Medieval sets but create a separate designer program for them.
@alexnunes

I have no doubt that these are not the top 5 in terms of fan vote. Other variables impact this that we will never know of.
@adamking882
@adamking882 6 месяцев назад
It's shocking that submissions with vastly more interest like the Sushi Restaurant were snubbed. However, Lego has shown a willingness to completely ignore fans with their selections (like how they passed on the library modular in Series 1).

The Siege Encampment is going to be a fun set for sure. And i like the little waterfall in the riverside scholars. For investment, I am going to wait and see how the ones from series 1 do. I did get 2 of each of those (except the Parisian Street, just too expensive for one that doesn't even sell out).
@BrickHQ

I like the boat, train, and siege encampment the most Great point about the train working for Back to the Future The problem is that there are too many huge expensive castle sets, but no small cheaper castle sets The siege encampment is great, but how is it so much pieces? It should be $150-$200 There needs to be a small set every wave, its not good that there isn't one here

As for what I'd purchase... I'm torn between the Merchant Boat and Siege Encampment. xD I don't have a Medieval or Water scene in my Lego City yet... but maybe I can just put the boat on land. lol Like a retired ship turned eatery.

I like the look of these sets, but I won't be ordering any of them. Lego must be responding to the data they've collected from their earlier rounds with these selections, so it'll be really interesting to see how it goes. I'm also interested in how the "investment set" market will change over the years as there are so many variables to consider. The BDP is a bit of a spectator sport for me😁 Thanks for your thoughts on the sets!

I was so disappointed with this train. I voted for the Western Town playset. It came with a train and full tracks, along with a full Western Town! It had everything you could ask for in a playset. I'm Heartbroken and really hope it is resubmitted for series 5. Also super disappointed not a single Pirate theme made it through. I really loved tge Imperial Slopp Neptune and the Imperial Trading Post made by the same guy that did the Western Town. Both had great play value I like the Seaside market, but it's awkward shape and large size makes it a pass, even though it's a beautiful build and a fun playset. It very much reminds me of that Viking Village, with its setup and awkward shape. No space for it at all sadly. That said, its very much the winner of the 5 in my book. That Siege encampment is neat, but not something I'm interested in. If I had tons of space/money and more Castle I might, but my Castle collection is small and I'm somewhat picky. I'm happy with the Creator 3in1 Castle. Waiting on a Wolfpack set and hoping it's good. Just not interested in the houseboat or riverside scholars. Really hope that Western Town playset is resubmitted in series 5, along with the Imperial Sloop Neptune and Imperial Trading Post playset.

The only one I'll consider buying is the boat. I have zero interest in the two medieval sets or trains in general. The Riverside Scholars set looks nice, but the open back kills it for me.

There is already a series 2 train set, now another train set? In all four series we have zero modular style building. Maybe Lego doesn't want competition to their official modular building sets. So maybe the last modular building from the bricklink program is the Construction site from 1 year ago.

Apart from not having a smaller, more affordable set, they should also not have two or more sets from the same theme. That way people with other interests will have an option to choose and people going for that theme don't have do spend too much on more than one set. I like the harbour set, but with two cows, the siege set is also interesting. Maybe get one of each, depending on the final set and price.

This year is my year of lego trains (thanks to harry potter) so the wild west train is the first one of these i've been interested at all. I still am not completely convinced about paying money for a moc though. They seem too good to be lego (same as fake lego etc). Yeah that's it.. id rather buy a fake lego set than an official super priced version for the same experience. Fake lego has the rights to moc builds :)
@bloodymarvelous4790

Fake lego doesn't have the rights to MOC builds. They buy the designs from MOC builders. The rights lie with the MOC builders.
@karrde593
@karrde593 6 месяцев назад
@@bloodymarvelous4790I didn't mean literally. Lego simply don't release lego sets that are of same details as moc builds.. so for that reason something feels odd about the bricklink designer sets, by nature.

Can’t say I’m very excited about any of these. Overall I’ve been disappointed by the designs from this program because they really lack the refinement of the regular sets from Lego. They’re too often just mocs with little regard for what makes a Lego set good.
@samwalker8893
@samwalker8893 6 месяцев назад
Mocs made by fans , experienced and talented lego customers and fans…. Think they happen to know “what makes a lego set good” That said , no one has seen any examples yet.. so you have no ability or experience to comment on “refinement” That said those “refining” the submissions are the SAME people making those “regular “ lego sets

@@samwalker8893 TBF, some of the early BDP sets had some stability issues like the mountain windmill. These look to be solidly constructed though. Two repeat designers from Series 1.
