afaik, the orient express isnt actually selling too terribly well, so lego is gonna cry and scream watching this sell out in minutes, and i for one cannot WAIT to see it happen! about time we spoke with our wallets and told those lego corporate fucks what we actually want.

I agree exactly! The trestle is beautiful, but I probably cant include it in a rolling layout, so it’s kinda worthless to me in that regard.

Yep, Frankly I'm not that interested in the train itself, I just don't think it looks amazing. But the fact that half of the set is a bridge I will never use is a non-starter for me.

The bridge has an angle of ~2º every 8 studs, so if I did my math right that works out to around R229. The angle between each section is ever so slightly adjustable, so it should totally be doable to adjust the bridge to match R216 or maybe even R232, if you want it to line up with the 16 stud intervals in radius used by most 3rd party track manufacturers.

Thanks! Motorization is possible with a train motor in the locomotive, and a PU hub replacing the generator on the flat car. In the video I’m just pulling it along with a piece of fishing wire though :P

I have no idea what to expect for if/how fast this set wil sell out. For series 1, the first sets sold out within hours, two more within a few days, and the last two where available through to the end of the pre-order window. Buying BDP sets should be fairly easy: Once the pre-orders open you wil be able to click on the pre-order button, and that should redirect you to LEGO.com and add the set to your cart.

Thanks! There is room for a train motor in the base of the locomotive, and a powered up hub fits in the generator on the flat car.

Electronics won't be included with the set, so you wil need to buy a separate train motor and powered up hub if you want to power it.

The curve radius is different, so you may want to buy from third-parties sellers.

@@tman4237 No, I am saying that the bend radius is different than the official LEGO one. But the width of the track is the same as LEGO one, so you can run trains on top of it.

Yes! The tracks on the bridge are built to the same width as the LEGO tracks, so the train works on all standard track pieces. It's even designed to fit powered up components if you want to motorise it

This feels more like a rant then a question, but let me try to answer you anyway. • The bridge doesn't use normal track, because LEGO only makes really sharp curves or straight track pieces. • The tile & clip track on the bridge is the same width as normal track, so if you have a raised section of normal track, the bridge can easily be joined to it with a minimal gap. • If the curve on the bridge doesn't work for your layout, you can easily build a straight version by removing a single 1x1 plate in each segment. • The bridge exists because this is primarily a display set for adults. I've designed the train so it's possible to add a motor and battery box, but its primary goal is to be a display piece. • (from your other comment) these BDP sets are not designed by LEGO, but by fans like me. There is no "inspection" (other then for stability or illegal build techniques), the sets that get chosen are simply the ones that had the most positive votes during the crowd support fase.
