I think it’s more about making sure that’s what the bride truly wants. This bride said it herself, black was more forgiving that she didn’t think she’d be pretty in white.

Normally I’d agree, but it’s clear her cousin wanted her to knock down the walls of negativity and self doubt so she could have the wedding she always dreamed of.

It doesn't, but people always want what they want for everyone. They should be happy with her choice and happy that she's marrying someone who loves her

@@elizabethalberico6133not every dress can be sized all the way up and still be beautiful on. But, not every dress can be sized all the way down and still look gorgeous on a body either. It’s just a fact that different styles happen to look better on some sizes than others! And I can’t think of any way we’re ever going to change that!! Okay - I’m hooked on the series and I particularly love that there’s this show and another (maybe from New York? I can’t recall recall right now. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️), both of which are designed for “curvey girls.” Every bride should feel beautiful on her wedding day!! Make-up and hair can help a lot; but wearing a beautiful dress that honestly suits you is the biggest part,my honest, personal opinion! Clare-bear just glowed in that dress!! In fact, she nearly made me cry! The ladies at this dress shop truly know how łto fit a woman and carry it appropriately!

Too bad they don't have qn all white dress to compare to the black dress. I did like the black dress too.

The white and black dress was very flattering on her and she looked pretty in it, but it just didn’t feel bridal, which is what she was looking for. She just didn’t think that a white dress could flatter her body like a black dress. I would get the white and black dress for the reception and wear the white dress for the ceremony that way she gets the best of both looks on her wedding day! 👰‍♀️ 💗

There's no problem. But the problem is that she wanted to wear black because she thinks she won't look good in white. It's not a choice out of what she really wanted but a choice she made out of negativity because she does not want to go out of her comfort zone. In the end what she really wanted is white, just too scared of trying it.

I felt it would be a bit silly turning up at the registry office in a wedding dress (plus we didn't have much money) so I had a cream coloured knee length dress with flowers on it and little fabric covered buttons down the front so it still felt a bit 'weddingy' It's our silver anniversary in a few weeks.

This is disingenuous. We are not women with a body. All women have a body. We are women who are big, fat, overweight, and obese. Putting a different word on it doesn't change the truth.

@@LyricalXilence I agree. I don't really like the way we are supposed to be all supportive and not 'body shame' obese people but they are allowed to insinuate that slim people are not womanly.

Ummm all women are women with a body??? It’s kind of not cool to insinuate that any body type is not a “body.” Like what does even mean?

Funnily enough the shoes I wore happily all day (even walked to the registry office and back because it wasn't far and the parking was dreadful there) never fitted me again so I only wore them that once. I could still fit easily into the dress but no one had told me having children makes your feet bigger!

@@SyedaTasnia I went to a bridal bouquet and they seemed offended that I wanted a red wedding dress. They claimed that it's not bridal. They were jerky about other things as well. Ended up not buying a dress from them.

I breaks my heart the times I show up for events and am the only obese person - art lessons or scuba diving class, snow-ski lessons, guided nature hikes. And it's frustrating to try to exercise - things like bike riding - and not be able to find large size women's biking shorts.

I can see where you're coming from, and I guess we'll never really know. But based on her reactions to each dress, I think she did end up with the one she really wanted. She said that she always pictured a white dress but she also never pictured being a plus sized bride. She said that she was comfortable in black because it was "more forgiving" than ivory. To me, she really didn't seem happy in the black dress - she liked it, sure, but she wasn't glowing the way a bride does when you find your perfect dress. She got that glow in the last dress that she tried on.

I totally agree with the sentiment that we should always be on the bride's side. However the consultants never like refused to get her black dresses. They let her try it on, saw her reaction, and then suggested she give ivory a try. They guided her, but if she insisted on black they definitely would have followed her lead. I think they just wanted to understand why she wanted black and we learned it was due to her insecurities.

@@jenniferle8294 Not all the consultants listen to the bride, but Jo and Al are real gems. They always listen to the bride. I think the cousin wanted her to wear ivory, because she thought that long term is would make the bride happiest.

In fairness, Jo didn't say she was on the entourage's side in front of the bride, she said it to camera when the bride wasn't there to hear it. Plus, both Jo and al have been doing this a long time; they're part therapists as well as bridal consultants, and they get a sense for when a bride is making a choice based on 'settling' rather than because they really want it. And they were right in this case. You could see the way the bride's face and body language changed the minute she saw herself in the first ivory dress - the black dress she 'thought' she loved was just "mmm yeah, that's really nice..." but when she saw herself in the ivory she just lit up... and there was no going back to black after that!

Well I’m a very sentimental person and I would prefer having the dress for that occasion only. I wouldn’t want my dress to be associated with other memories, but thats my preference!
