You can totally find a $1500. I have seen beautiful dresses on the show for $1500. Terrible the staff is saying she can’t find one within her budget. No justification to spend that much over her budget for 1 day. She should have gone to other boutiques.
I think it's possible that the style and material description she gave was out of her price budget. No doubt they probably have plenty in her budget that are A-line dresses. But, sticking to her specifications, they didn't have a huge selection within her price point. But I agree. Shelving that dress and checking out other boutiques would've been the best decision.
Of course a bride is excited for her wedding & wants a pretty dress...but if only some of these girls could see past that, how the dress is going to go into the back of the closet, never to be worn again. And they will wish they could have some of that money back for other things...
Yup, just because there is nothing in the store doesn't mean they don't exist elsewhere. That said, why didn't ask their price range when she made the appointment.
When I married my husband, I found a dress in our budget ($300) that I knew would b functional: they had one hanging there I wanted but it was $800! I had gone shopping alone. I didn't have anyone to take: I took my husband to be (he had gotten paid that morning) he walked up to the counter and told them to get the dress I wanted for me to try on (he didn't let me come out of the fitting room) I did LOVE it.....he then plunked down $500 and said " I don't need to see it- order the dress she wants!) This was A LOT of money for us: he was only one working, I was in school and he was only one working and we had 3 kids: I got married in the dress I loved!!!!!!!
So not only did the bridesmaids have to chip in for the bride’s dress, but they still have to pay for their own dresses, plus everything else that goes into being a bridesmaid.
Please put subtitles on these! It’s the only reason I don’t watch them and I love this show! I am deaf and I don’t understand what they are saying without subtitles.
I bought my wedding dress at Montgomery Ward. I watch this show and laugh my head off at some of these brides. I want the money for my honeymoon and our home.
Go to a store where you can afford any of their dresses. My daughter went to a store where we could choose any dress and it took so much anxiety off the search.
How much is each friend expected to donate? I still have to buy my bridesmaid dress, alterations, shoes, hair and makeup. That “$gift$” towards your bridal gown is in lieu of a wedding gift and bachelorette party. So don’t be upset when you don’t get them.
Putting conditions on generosity is tacky. I think they could negotiate with he about cutting down on the bridesmaiids costs. Like, do your own make up, buy a dress from a cheaper source/pick your own dress within a set of parameters, a girls night in bachelorette party.

@@BasicYTHandle some are tradition now and brides, family and friends expect them and it's considered part of the fun (I a very glad bridal showers haven't caught on here because I think they are a bit much. An engagement present and a wedding present is enough). You can't put conditions on a gift after you give it. However, they can have a chat and point out that, because the dress cost a lot, they could do some low key, cost effective things for everything else. A movie night at home is just as fun for a hens party as an expensive champagen cruise or a trip to vegas. I would not be surprised if, after, the bridesmaids realised what other costs they would be paying, some reneged on their pinky promise
That was nice of Lori to give her a discount, but she should have settled for a cheaper dress. I would never take my friends’ money like that. It just isn’t right or worth it for a one day dress that will hang in the closet or in a box for years after the wedding to collect dust.
We live in Canada 🇨🇦 and didn't go to Kleinfeld's for my daughter's dress. She was married last September. Her dress and veil, taxes and alterations all in, was $3000. Th (Canadian) Thats $2194 US. She tried on 25 dresses at that price point or less. Y'all need to come to a Canadian bridal salon to shop.
This is a boutique everything is more expensive. There are places to get dresses in the price point you said. People just want the over the top prices.
I know that once beading or crystals are added, the price goes way up. My dress was $1600. It was pretty, sure, but not at all what I wanted. I paid for it all by myself and regret not getting the style I wanted because it’s a once in a lifetime thing.
Well these days things do cost more. Plus backyard weddings aren't that viable for many people now with the rise of smaller housing blocks and apartment living; hence you have to hire a venue and pay for catering. However, spending 5k on a dress is ridiculous. As is spending $150pp or thousands of dollars.on flowers that will be thrown out.
@@MsJubjubbird these days? I got married two years ago. Also, it’s just about what you value…I didn’t value spending a lot of money on a dress that I would wear one time and I got married on the waterfront in a gazebo in Florida not a back yard.
@@RageRumi lucky for you but a lot of councils would require you to have a permit or rent the space. Couldn't buy a dress from Kmart here for $34. Catering is also expensive.
The last dress looks like the first one. If she had the first one tailored to the way she wanted, it would have been perfect and she wouldn't have had to take out the collection pot.
The wrinkles in the front of the less expensive dress are because of her "extra" booty. And the more expensive dress had the exact same wrinkles! Either of which could have been fixed with proper alterations, especially as she was so willing to have her friends pay extra. But she didn't even notice the wrinkles in the more expensive dress! And shame on the staff (AND her friend) for saying she needed to up her budget if she wanted a dress that fit properly, and then showing her a dress that cost SO much more than her budget and not even telling her the price until AFTER she had it on and was out in front of her friends!! It was also very obvious that some of her friends were NOT thrilled with being volunteered to cough up hundreds of dollars to help pay for the more expensive dress!!
This is such a shame. How could the bride's friend blow off bride's budget even before starting? How could the bride not check the price before/while she was putting on the dress? The tag was hanging in clear view. This looks like everyone was scaming each other for a ridiculously overpriced dress.
I don’t understand when the consultants talk to the bride about stretching the budget or bringing in dresses that aren’t in the budget. If you have to work with the brides budget then that’s what you have to do. You shouldn’t question the brides price at all. That bride could find gorgeous dresses for that price at other salons.
This programme shows some wonderful gowns. However, I always wonder just how long it has taken the saver to save the money versus for how long the dress will be worn for those of limited means. Surely it is better to put a bit less on the dress and a bit more towards buying one's first home?
If the bride expects me to chip in to get her dream dress that is over budget, then I would consider that to be my wedding shower & wedding day gift to her. Bridesmaids have to pay so much money just to stand up in a wedding. There is only so much money a person can spend before going into debt.
My wedding dress was $400 and gorgeous. Granted I got married 32 years ago so who knows how much the dress would cost today, but I’m still glad I stayed in my budget AND loved my dress.
Wanting a Cadillac dress, yet only have Toyota dress money...then it's the friends who are yea get the super expensive dress smh. The ones who pitched in helped her out a lot, however, no one should have to take up a collection for a wedding dress.
This bride reminds me of something my late grandmother used to say: "some people eat salami then burp caviar" 😂I would have been embarrassed to ask my friends to pitch in. I would have been my responsibility to pay for it.

I’ve seen the consultants find dresses in the $1500 range. Surely they could have found her a dress from the racks/showroom or a cheaper sample gown. They scorned her budget and didn’t even appear to try. That said, I agree with her dad, shop around if you can’t find something there in your budget. Surely this isn’t the only place that sells bridal gowns. Her friends chipping in towards her dress is potentially problematic, especially if there are differences in what each girl is able to give. (Based on how this is edited it does seem as if only one of them was pushing her). Plus they still have to pay for their own dresses, gifts, bachelorette parties etc etc. I hope this dress doesn’t cost her her friendships. This was a very weird appointment.
I get where people are coming from saying the staff shouldn't have said she couldn't get a dress for 1500, but what I think they meant is she can't get a dress like what she wants for 1500, she clearly went into the shop wanting pure authentic silk yet only had the budget for fake mass produced silk. Thankfully they were willing to sell her the sample dress and her friends chipped in 😊
This why people like this that think this way and go over budget are in debt up to their eyeballs!!! They don't know how to live within their means, they live only for today, and don't worry or think about tomorrow.!!!
I wonder who put this dress in the fitting room then what's the point of asking their price point If it's her fitting room n is lined up for trial I don't blame her if she falls in love with it It is the staff's duty to inform about the dress that is 4 times the budget

I am someone who LOVES shopping for clothes. My personal style is very important to me. Even still, i will not be spending thousands of dollars on a dress for one day.
Yall ever watch these older episodes where they budget shame and then think about the math for inflation? Idk what year this was but im not spending $3500 in todays dollars, definitely wouldn’t be spending that in 2000s dollars.
Why does anyone go to stores that sell dresses above the budget to start with? She went from U$ 1,500 she could afford to 5,000. She bought a whole dress over the budget.
It’s ridiculous what these dresses cost. These places just milk it for all they can. I would never pay over $1000 for a wedding dress you will wear it once.
You can totally find a great dress for $1.5k That said, I'm incredibly happy that the friends and Lori stepped up to make it affordable for her. But the staff should have pushed back on her trying something so widely over budget (as in, don't even bring it into the changing room)
Of course the staff is going to do all they can to sell a more expensive dress. The higher the price, the more $ they make. Randy has class and is really in it for the bride, while Monty is the opposite. I have little respect for him and this staff. No wonder they at this K location pushes higher priced dresses. She should have gone someplace else. To push a more expensive dress on someone who had to ask for help to pay, is nothing but greed. The excuse that she won't find a beautiful and sexy dress at $1500 is the worst.
This comments section is bizarre: 1 We see people expand their budget ALL the time on this show, 2 Her friends OFFERED to chip in - it wasn’t her idea (which we’ve also seen on the show), 3 The quality of this dress was EXPONENTIALLY better than the first dresses she tried on. There’s only one difference between this bride and most of the brides we see on this show - strange that she’s the only one getting unanimous hate from the comments for something her friends OFFERED to do for her!!
That is not true. Just for comparison, there is a new video with a bride being shamed for allowing her mom to walk for work and stop eating out so she can have her "dream" dress. The comments regardinng the friends is deserved. Not all of them were onboard and it is not friendly to go from 1500 to 5000, each friend paying 600 for her dress (or 300-350 with the discount). They are paying a whole dress for her. But hey! They are paying.
What about the bridesmaids expenses of their own for the wedding ? Gown and so forth. I won’t comment because I find the situation deplorable. This bride is taking gross advantage of her friends. They seem so sweet. Not right to take advantage of their generous spirit. The two gowns were very similar. Father is only one that makes sense. Also, who is paying for the headpiece and veil?

I mean, at least the entourage was willing to put the pinky fingers were their mouths were! Shouldn't have tried that dress ok, the first was beautiful (of course it didn't lay flat, it wasn't fitted to her yet), but, hey, they actually pitched in.
You have to consider what the brides are asking for. You also have to consider that designer labels come at a price. You also are not considering that Gok's episodes are newer than most of the Kleinfeld ones or even the Essex one. Styles change really fast with bridal. And, for the record, Gok has gone over budget too. And some of his episodes don't even mention budget, so we don't even know then. Stop generalizing all of these and definitely stop acting like Gok is perfect. Gok is great, but he didn't actually work there and he wasn't the consultant.
The staff came across as quite snotty in this video. I understand that this childish bride hadn't done any research and should have taken her 1500 to another store if she had, but to straightaway keep complaining they haven't got any 1500 dresses was annoying. That sounds like a store issue, not a bride issue. Get in more reasonably priced dresses!! 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
