I understand the frugal part of getting a dress that you’ll only wear once, but why are they so mean to her?

The contrast between these 2 families was a perfect way to showcase supportive vs unsupportive!

So she says she wants hippie vintage and they put her in two fitted satin dresses? I would think the dress would be more lace, long, flowy, and light. With hanging beads or layers of lace or something. Lori literally was in her 20s in the 70s. She should know better!!

If someone told me they wanted hippie/vintage/flowy Goddess, I would put her in chiffon. It's the perfect fabric to walk barefoot in. Family puts her on display to laugh at her. That's mean hearted right to the core.

My being 67...I was actually around when the hippy's were & these dresses (& the fabrics they're made from) DON'T fit the era at all! To fit the "vintage hippy" narrative, the dresses should be more flowing & natural fabrics were particularly"in"... especially for an outside, or beach wedding. The only thing they got right was the headband & that would have been worn without a veil.

How can a mom be so insesitive to her own daughter? 😢 she is so sweet they dont deserve her. And the second bride is goooooorgeous ufff!

So glad she went away with a dress within her budget, and fitting HER image of hippy vintage. She looked lovely in it. For future reference : if she and her husband are so like - minded, she should take HIM with her when going clothes shopping !

I know a woman like that first mother. Cheap as the day is long because she needs her cash for the casino. She always thinks she’s funny with her insults and seems to feel better if someone else feels bad. I refused to do any more shopping with or for her.

I don't understand why brides even bring folks along when they must surely know which ones will be unkind. I also don't understand why a bunch of people will be chipping in to pay for a dress. If we're old enough to be married, we should be responsible enough to pay for our own weddings..... unless parents insist ~ and even then, it can be tricky.

If you want vintage hippie on a budget, satin is not the vibe, and a vintage or thrift store would be a way better place to find the perfect dress. Thrift stores are a hidden treasure trove of dresses someone else wore only once, and who knows, you might find an actual hippie dress

If she only wanted to spend $500 she should have gone to the Goodwill store

None of those dresses even come close to hippie. Strapless with boning? Hippies did not even wear bras. The headband comes closer.

To me, the hippie dress was a very insignificant dress. But the bride and her entourage adored it, and that's all that matters. The second dress needed to be clipped tighter. 😐

If you/your groom can't afford the dress then you need to reevaluate a few things. No one else is responsible when it comes to financing your wedding.

This is why I would pay myself as my late mom was cheap too. But that is understandable as this a dress you will wear only once, so is it worth spending big bucks?

It was sad to hear Hailey say "I just want to be beautiful again". She looks in the mirror and doesn't see a beautiful woman? I think shes too hard on herself, but after listening to the family members she brought with her, it's no wonder she feels that way. They were very harsh with their opinions.

Let's face it. In these days and prices, the only way you're gonna get a wedding dress for $500 is to have a friend or close relative who is an accomplished seamstress. For my first wedding dress, I threw a Butterick pattern and a few yards of embroidered georgette and satin at a friend and said, 'this is what I want". I wore a broad-brimmed hat with floral embellishments, an expensive pair of Italian leather cream colored pumps, a wrap-style dress that was just to below the knees and had a robe collar, 3/4 sleeves, and a big satin sash around the middle that tied in a big bow at the back, and felt like the most beautiful bride in the world. And have the pictures to prove it.

None of the dresses was actually elegant-hippie or hippie-chic, but actually, that style in general has become a bit too pricy and the bride was on a tight budget. The first and second dresses were actually awful and looked cheap, but the consultants created the look with the elements they had and within the budget.

"You have to look at the entire dress, not just the price tag." Sweetie. if the price tag is over what I said, I'm not getting it. Like that is completely rude to tell someone who's on a budget.
