I gave both my daughters reasonable budgets and only the two of us shopped for their dresses. One bought the dress that was totally “it”. The other bought a beautiful dress that I thought was the last thing she’d pick. Was it my first choice? No. Was it obviously her’s? Yup. Did I try to change her mind? Wouldn’t have dreamed of it. Was a bit over budget so we went to lunch and talked about it. She covered the extra - she really wanted that dress! I had set a budget for the wedding that I could contribute and felt I needed to set a “this is what I can cover” precedent. Don’t regret it.

I really enjoy watching your videos and one of the things that makes them stand out above the other programs is that you don’t start out asking the brides what their budgets are! I don’t think I have ever heard you ask that question on camera. You do a wonderful job of helping your brides to feel at ease and comfortable in their own skin! And that is the biggest obstacle they have to overcome! God bless!

I don't think they are being quite fair to the mum by suggesting that she liked the first dress because 'she held the purse strings'. I don't recall anyone mentioning prices or budgets and the girl had already said that the dress matched her colour scheme so of course her mum was drawn towards it.

When I look at the dresses on hangers, I can’t tell much difference, it’s all a blend to me until they try them on. May be if they showed them slower 😁

I think the first mom was imagining what SHE would have looked like in the princess dress. Yes, that would have been a disaster. Her daughter certainly had the figure to show that beautiful dress to the world!! The money was hard for her to part with. I'm glad she had a change of heart.

I'm not getting married but I'm a size 18 and I was body shamed a few months ago by a shopkeeper who knew about my recent medical history (kidney transplant followed by two total hip replacements operations back-to-back and then sepsis which I nearly died from. Actually, in the past 5 years I've had 4 near death experiences) After recovering somewhat (I'll never be the same again) from the last health drama I went into her yarn shop. She told me I was looking dreadful. I thought, how can she tell: I was wearing a beanie and had a face mask on. The next time I went in, she told me I didn't need to worry about men b/c I was 'fluffy'. What does that mean? I innocently asked. 'It means you're fat and ugly.' I was stunned. For a start I think I've got a pretty face: at 63 years of age, I don't have a wrinkle anywhere, not even a wrinkle on my face. Secondly what a bitchy thing to say. It took me a couple of weeks to go back to her shop and have it out with her. I got a typical response from a bully: she rolled her eyes then told me she had been joking and I was being too sensitive. What a BITCH! I told her that I have a bit of a tummy b/c I'm on steroids and a host of other medication to stop rejection of my transplant, to which she said 'Well, I'm on antidepressants.' Yeah, lady so am I and I'm on antianxiety medication. The reason why I mention this is b/c the size 18 bride didn't look overweight at all to me; she has a very nice figure. Me too, I've now decided. Maybe I'm no longer a catch because of my medical conditions but that's okay, I really like myself and all that I have achieved despite a terrible childhood, which lead to my kidney failure in the first place: I was abandoned by my parents when I was 8. and was never taken to a doctor when I had kidney infections. I'm the ultimate survivor and if people don't see the value in me, it's their loss. I have my wee dog and he is enough. I was married once. I wore a ruby red off the hanger princess style dress. He cheated on me.

Deanna sounds like my niece. She couldn't figure out why she had feelings for a person she had recently met, who turned out to be a girl. I had taken her with me to a cosplay event, so this young woman was very well dressed as a male figure. That's how my niece discovered she was 🐝

I have always felt it weird for someone to use their paying for it to exert control over anything other than budget. Absolutely your budget is what it is. And I get wanting at least a tie breaking nod if there is a tie but it is not a gift if there are strings attached. Not here but in similar shows parents in particular have been downright cruel to the person based on them holding the purse. They have made their child or friend feel so damn small and ugly...for control

Size 18!? If you aren't tiny, then that isn't huge! It's ridiculous. My daughter is 5' 10" with a generous chest and she can't shop at most women's wear shops! She isn't overweight her body is proportional, but she is made to feel ashamed because she isn't a tiny Size 2!

UK...gluten may cause cravings/addictions/hurt the thyroid. Gluten is in wheat/barley/rye....oats/corn/rice. Rice is low in gluten. Wild rice has no gluten...is a grass. UK is far from the equator which creates low sunlight/low Vit D which causes gluten to attack the gut lining so less nutrients absorb and affect the glands etc...
