Fished there yesterday. No good on mangroves. Current was ripping. I didn't have live bait though. Couple croakers and undersize mango.

I live 2 miles from there I caught a 42in 27lb red down there last year

Dang man, you even had my adrenaline pumping! Maybe you need to park away from those bridge legs. Park in between them, or just outside them. So your angle of pull on the fishing line, may pull the fish away from snags and into clear water. Maybe even drop over, one of those hand held video cameras, and take a look at the underwater bridge structure? Looks like fun, good luck, next time.
