Hi Charlie, Both gibs required some shimming as there is significant wear on the dovetails This machine is probably worth re-scraping, and severely needs it. However, time constraints at the moment had me re-assemble as is. Determining whether a machine is worth re-scraping is really up to the owner. In my case, I have found that with some patience you can find a machine with very little wear for a few thousand dollars- far less than the cost of paying a professional to scrape it. However, if it's a labor of love and you are confident in your scraping abilities, go for it! The other option is what you see here- get the play out of it, make sure its being lubricated properly, and accept that the machine will never be super accurate. A DRO or some gage blocks, some patience and a few tricks can get you into the sub 0.00X" position tolerance on even a very worn machine, if need be.
