to be fair penelope runs a well-established business that she’s passionate about while colin is just a rich viscount’s 3rd son at this point without anything going on for himself. she also started publishing because she was invisible to everyone. her family lowkey bullied her since childhood and this is how she’s taking her power back. atleast that’s how i view it. had eloise paid the slightest bit of attention to pen, she would never call it just ‘gossip’. el needs to be a little less self-centred when it comes to her friendships. and yes you’re right, ‘romancing mr. bridgerton’ is the name of pen & colin’s book.

In regards to the just gossip part, she's right. While the role of lady w may mean a lot to Penelope, the contents of the letters ARE just gossip. She's never attempted to make it any more than that

just a note on the 3some scene: Benedict wasn't as much hurt by what he saw, he was experiencing gay panic at that moment. he was looking at them and he realised that he was tempted to say Yes to their proposal and he freaked himself out :D any queer person will tell you that that happens a lot at the start, before you fully understand your sexuality. and yes, Tilly making out with another guy was probably not what he wanted to see, but he was already freaking out from Paul flirting with him and you can clearly see that he is attracted to him and that is his primary focus. let's remember, Benedict is no stranger to the occasional orgy and is also not known for being particularly monogamous ;)

I never had a problem with E like you talked about. She was reckless with her unchaperoned relationship with someone out of her class, though. That wouldn't just ruin her, that could ruin her family, like Daphne was worried about in season one. Pen wrote about it in such a way that it didn’t ruin her and still protected her from the Queen. I felt bad for her last season, she was hurt that Pen had hidden this from her, but until this episode, I've been fed up with her bitchy toddler tantrum attitude this season. She needed this season of 'not being seen' to realize what LW really is, why Pen would write it, and why she writes the way she does. Essentially, she needed a time out to calm her butt down (and maybe a slap at the engagement party she ruined for Pen). I wish they'd just stuck to the books on this one, Pen and Eloise never had a falling out there. Colin and Pen's book had plenty of drama without that in the mix.

I know this is not the books, but they do draw from the books. On the show we see people crossing racial lines, crossing sexual norms, and even hear about Lady Mary's (happy) marriage to someone of another class. In the books, Violet Bridgerton said, *"I would allow my children to marry paupers if it would bring them happiness . . . . They would be well-principled and hardworking paupers, of course . . . . No gamblers need apply."* So I don't think class *needs to be* the rubicon that cannot be crossed on the show. I do think Penelope should have told Colin the truth before rushing out a special issue of Whistledown without even telling her family, and she should have told him before they had sex. At least they worked it out to their satisfaction in the end, I guess. Lady Whistledown was quite different in the books, that's true.

@HuntingViolets I never said I had a problem with class, I think Eloise and the printer guy were really sweet together. I'm saying Eloise herself should've realized the impropriety and what that would do to her family. I know Violet is fine with her children marrying whoever they want if they love them, Ben and Sophie are my fav story, but she still worried about how society would look at them. Not because she cared about society, but she cared about not only her children being able to marry well IF THEY WANTED, she also didn't want them hurt if society cast then out. Eloise was foolish to do what she did.

@HuntingViolets as far as Pen is concerned, I got the impression that she didn't have an opportunity alone with Colin to tell him, other than the mirror scene, which, my thoughts would've been a little scattered there. He kinda sprung that on her lol. I did like how in the book he knew before the carriage scene and all of it.

I must be watching a different show than you lol. I wouldn't consider Eloise's attitude this season to be even remotely close to bitchy toddler tantrum. Shes responded the same way anyone would. They only time she's even been remotely mad was when she found out about the engagement, because she knew that pen was still lying to Colin and that WHEN, not if he found out, he would be devastated by her lying to him. Similar to how hurt she was about the lie. It's completely reasonable to demand pen tell Colin. She was never cruel about it.

I agree with you that Pen wrote about Eloise in the best way possible, considering that she both wanted to cast suspicion away from her, and not ruin her. being involved in a political movement is one thing, banging a person from a lower class out of wedlock is completely another. Pen did a reasonable thing. I don't think El was mad at her about that, though. it was never about what she wrote about her personally - any anger El had in that respect was towards herself. I believe, even last season, she realised that she had fucked up with Theo. I think El was feeling betrayed because Pen hadn't confided in her when El had told her EVERYTHING that was happening in her life. it was a sense of the friendship not being reciprocated more than anything else. I see a lot of people being annoyed with El for being mad at Pen. I don't mind it. they definitely both needed a time to cool down, and El's reaction is what one can expect from a teenager :D they are both really young in the TV series and such emotions are expected. if anything, I like seeing El feel SOMETHING. she's usually just a comedic relief and I hate that for her ^^

37:25 This!! I have seen people talk about how Colin has never been suffered and he got Pen so easily. Guys, my boy got tricked to almost marry a woman he liked, and now, this LW thing. I won’t be surprised if he has a trust issue after this. He feels like a fool who got tricked or lied to easily because people don’t care about him. His insecurity might be increased now.

thank you for defending Colin. He's the sensitive 3rd son of two strong older brothers. If Colin's character is supposed to be 24 this season and Hyacinth is supposed to be around 13‐14.That means that their father died around 13-14 years ago just before Hyancith was born. Tha makes colin around 10-11 when his father died. I think Pen and him are perfect for each other but they're still a bit immature and have to find their way to grow together.

My issue with Eloise started in part two when she ruined any happiness for Pen during her engagement announcement and party with the pressure to confess. She should have given Pen a few days to process those moments and tell him. Outside of that I love Eloise, she’s hilarious and a strong character. I do wish that Colin didn’t have to find out about LW by following Pen. 😬 As for Cressida, she’s a mess, and I get that she felt trapped and people do crazy things in that situation, but she really didn’t think it through. She did look fabulous (for once) in that “in y’alls face” all red 💃🔥 ensemble at the Botanical Ball.

I don't get why people had an issue with El? That doesn't make sense to me. Most of the characters have done something at one time or another that could have cast them out of society if known. I love both El and Penelope, but I connect more with Penelope. It's been hard seeing them not be friends, best friends. Although Pen made some bad choices, she was trying to protect those she loved. In the show she is much younger than in the books and she caused more damage than in the books, so I chalk it up to her being young and making mistakes that will shape the woman she still become. I know what it's like to be invisible, or I used to. To be the friend but never the one desired (at least when I was younger). That on top of having no rights, I understand her need for the power her quill gives her. I am just glad they are speaking again. I miss them as friends.

I still don't think you have to be grateful to someone for calling an ambulance after they hit you with their car, but I know I'm in the minority in this fandom. Thank you for standing for Eloise as much as you have against the criticism for daring to try to become more. It's crazy to me that people deride Eloise for being reckless but hold up Penelope as a feminist heroine when she is just as reckless, if not more so. YMMV. I'm hoping Cressida's aunt is not as bad as she seems (maybe she acts like that so her brother, who is definitely awful, and his wife, who is also pretty awful, stay away from her). I would like to see Cressida again. Part two of season three feels like it's in a different universe from part one, somehow.
