This House believes that religious fundamentalism, whether a political ideology garbed in religious terminology or a religious movement defining itself largely or entirely by religious values, poses a threat to Asia's future. In proposing an often militant rejection of secularization, or offering themselves as an alternative constituent contesting for political power, religious fundamentalists upset the present order of things, not least the divide between state and religion carefully built up over the last 60 years.
