So why didn’t the U.S. provide economic assistance in 1959?

Cuba could have chose to send troops in central America during the central American wars in the 70s and 80s. Like el salvador, Guatemala, nicaragua but that would have been to high profile for castro and the united states would have probably gotten involved themselves so instead they just helped groups like the fmln or the unrg, sandinistas with arms and equipment. They sent soldiers to Angola or congo because those countries were much more far away and out reach fron the United States. Apart from grenada of course. Grenada was the only place were cuban and American troops met each other in combat. And it went terribly for castro

It sucks you missed out on the foreign policy of cuba under castro. He sent cuban troops to africa to help with anti imperialist causes. And in grenada. And helped leftist revolutionaries in central America

I just don't understand why Cuba cannot exploit its own mineral and agricultural abundant wealth..? I mean according to this brief history of Cuba, you state that Spain, as well as the U.S. "exploited Cuba" and had large interests and investments in Cuba. If outsiders could make huge profits, while still making Cuba prosperous for most, then why can't they do the same..? Blaming Spain, the U.S., or even the collapse of the USSR doesn't seem credible..! I mean really? Did all the rich soil disappear all of a sudden, because the Cuban government expropriated all U.S. land interests and even Cuban owned lands..? They can't even produce enough FOOD to feed themselves... Even with all the "Corruption" attributed to most of the previous Cuban governments prior to 1959, the buildings and infrastructure of Cuba was on par and even surpassed that of European countries. Fidel inherited Cuba at its PEAK..! Then he proceeded to run the entire country into the ground. That is a fact! Just look at Cuba today. Any part of Cuba. Even the capital Havana is full of dilapidated and crumbling buildings. Basic services are intermittent at best..! Again, why can't Cuba prosper with so much?
