In this video, I work on installing a go-kart style torque converter on the Briggs bike. I run into a couple issues with the thread pitch of the bolts that are included in the kit, but I get a good look at how it will fit on the bike in order to figure out where the jackshaft will go in a future episode.

I have a question rather, huasheng 49cc 4 stroke, with belt drive, since the clutch already has Ben set up for a belt, why couldn't I remove the existing, pully, that is connected to the drive gear, and replace it with a tork converter.

The build is coming along Pulsar. Good work! How is the Phantom running? Mine runs fine. Got 500 km on it so far. Hope for the best. Unfortunately my pedal threads stripped (chinesium) so I'll have to buy the single piece crankarm. Uhh

I was recently given a lawnmower with a Briggs and Stratton 5hp engine. I'm looking at the torque converters on Amazon. Whichever one I buy though, the purchase will have to wait a while. I just can't afford to buy any of the tools and parts I will need to do this mod.

Keep in mind mowers are vertical shaft engines. While it is possible to run them sideways with some modifications, the crankshaft will need to be turned down from 7/8" to 3/4" to accept a torque converter. Otherwise a vertical friction drive is always an option on a low budget.

@@pulsar2121 Thank you for the information. I can't wait to so the project completed.

@@pulsar2121 Is that the only modification needed to run the engine sideways?

Those torque convertor always come with wrong bolts reguardless .even for honda and honda clone they uses 5-16/24 fine tread 1 inch bolts not the ones that comes with it even the shaft bolt isnt right either so needless to say 5-16/24 fine treads are standard for most briggs and honda amd honda clones
