This was an outstanding effort! Should be put into a book form so that all the references, which are plentiful, can be had together all in one place. This is something I will want to refer to again and again. Outstanding work sir! I will recommend it to everyone who has an interest in LDS history, truth, and exonerating Joseph Smith.

Half way through watching and this is amazing. Rob's videos are so well organized, researched and documented. He is easy to follow and understand. I felt that if polygamy were originated by Brigham Young, that fact would have many consequences. I am seeing more than just polygamy in the modern church handed down by Brigham, and one of the biggest legacies of his is the idea that the president of the church is infallible. This misconception is alive and well today thanks to Brigham. We have so much repenting to do.
@michaelsutherland5848

I think Young never really pushed that idea, it really started gaining traction under Woodruff. I'd suggest the biggest false tradition we've been handed down from Brigham is the idea that the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles has any business running the Church. Creating that myth was how he usurped authority.

Wonderful video! I appreciate how well you document everything. Please make a video on how Brigham changed the temple after Joseph's death and what Joseph really taught about the endowment and sealings. I am finding there isn't much documented during Joseph's life of what he actually taught about temple ordinances. This leads me to think Brigham authored much of the temple ceremonies and in the process muddied them.

I think I have more respect for him out of all of the apostles during Brigham Young’s rule. Like a true narcissist Brigham Young accused others of the exact crimes & sins that he was committing. No wonder his one son wanted to live BACK EAST and wanted nothing to do with Utah Mormonism. Little did Brigham Young know that his own words would later condemn & reveal his true nature (definitely not a prophet called of God)!

That reminds me of my early thoughts as well. i admired what appeared to be a peculiar people who were going against societal norms to follow after God. But despite learning the truth of the second president, Brigham Young does not change that; we can still find favour in the eyes of God, and can still work towards Zion. If our leaders have pushed us in the wrong direction, we will push back. God's work will be done. If we use the Book of Mormon, the word of God, as our foundation as Joseph intended, rather than placing our trust in a man or institution to lead us (or mislead us), then we will, in my opinion, be going in the direction Joseph was directed by God. Mormonism, in my understanding, is very centered on individual responsibility; we are responsible for seeking out truth. Men can change our minds, but they can never change what is eternally true. Its my belief that God will judge us based on what we do with the truth we have. We know Gods word is found in the Book of Mormon, and we know God's word is true; that much was enough for me to prepare a foundation to restore my faith in the true gospel.

I'm glad I didn't know all your truthful information when I joined the church. I was so young in my faith. But I see it for what it is now! Thank you so much for bringing this information out! I'm a 4th cousin 4 times removed to Joseph through his mother Lucy Mack Smith. It makes me so angry that Brigham was allowed to slander Joseph and Lucy. and the church still holds up these lies! I joined the church in 2005 and have always felt a sweet love for Lucy! I didn't know why exactly. and then fairly recently I put my name into that LDS sight and they tell you if you're related to church leaders and I was to Joseph Smith through Lucy! I kind of woke up in 2020 when we were urged to take something and remembered counsel to hear him. It is one of the few times I actually heard a voice,. I heard the still small voice of a man of few words and he warned me not to take what we were urged to take and not to even be tested for it ever. Over the next few years several families left church and I talked to them. I wasn't ever comfortable with the priesthood ban or polygamy but hadn't really thought about it that much! But after the virus everything changed and I realized I had to get my own confirmation on every belief I held. After 3 years of searching, I found your videos on polygamy and all these other good subjects. God help us all. Somany just wants someone to tell them what to do. It's sad! I love some of the discussions on The Stick of Joseph also on RU-vid , on the Divine Feminine or Heavenly Mother over there. Interesting!

Wow, such an amazing amount of research. Thank you for doing all that work. One thought though...we haven't entirely expunged polygamy. We still practice a version of it in sealing men to women after a wife dies. This says firmly to so many of us women that this life is really the only time we can be sure not to have to live polygamy and we don't really have any choice in it if we should die before our husbands and they should choose to seal themselves to another woman. We believe women still have no choice in the matter to this day. Don't you think that should be addressed? Perhaps this is why the church doesn't distance themselves even more from this practice?

"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. 16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." (New Testament | Matthew 7:15 - 20) The "fruits" of Brigham Young, my GG grandfather, was adultery. The Prophet Joseph Smith never taught or lived polygamy, in fact, he said that if a person receives a message or revelation that contradicts a previous revelation you may know it is not of God but of Satan, who may appear as an angel of light to deceive. The following quote from the Prophet Joseph Smith shows that D&C 132 was in direct contradiction with previous revelations in D&C 42:22-26 and D&C 49: 15-17 and former section 101 of 1835 (Three Witnesses to this Truth). According to Emma, the Prophet's wife, Joseph never received D&C 132 revelation. So who wrote D&C 132? It was under Brigham Young's administration and contrary to God's eternal pattern. “There have also been ministering angels in the church which were of Satan appearing as an angel of light:- A sister in the State of New York had a vision who said it was told her that if she would go to a certain place in the woods an angel would appear to her,- she went at the appointed time and saw a glorious personage descending arrayed in white . . . he commenced and told her to fear God and said that her husband was called to do great things, but that he must not go more than one hundred miles from home or he would not return; whereas God had called him to go to the ends of the earth; and he has since been more than one thousand miles from home, and is yet alive. Many true things were spoken by this personage and many things that were false.-How it may be asked was this known to be a bad angel? . . . by his contradicting a former revelation.” Times and Seasons 3 [April 1, 1842]: 747 Polygamy (D&C 132) is breaking several of the 10 Commandments of God and is diametrically opposed to God's established pattern for godliness and holiness in a divine marriage relationship. "My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips" (Psalms 89: 34). Read D&C 42:22-26 and D&C 49: 15-17 which states one man should have only one wife and to cleave unto her and "none else." Brigham Young broke that law and introduced polygamy (legalized adultery) in his mind into the church. Shame on him!

It is obvious to me that the purpose for the restoration under the hand of the Prophet Joseph Smith was to bring forth the Book of Mormon, in honesty, showing and revealing that there truly are just two churches on the earth today! “The church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil;” (Book of Mormon | 1 Nephi 14:10). The former, “church of the Lamb of God” is a spiritual church and has been gathering its members who are truly “born of God” since the days of Adam and Eve [who are born again in true righteousness, holiness, virtue, and honesty] an attribute the LDS church lacks today. Its history has been corrupted since Brigham Young seized power and this dishonesty carries on to this day.

3 Nephi chapter 11 the most important chapter in all the Book of Mormon. Christ says this is my gospel Faith repentance baptism gift of the Holy Ghost. Our Savior says this multiple times because he wants to be clear on what his gospel is. In verse 40 the Savior gives us a warning.. and who so shall declare more or less than this, and establish it for my Doctrine, the same cometh of evil, and not built upon my rock, but he is built upon a Sandy Foundation, and the Gates of Hell stand open to receive such when the floods come and the winds beat upon them. The temple endowment was only a washing and anointing in Joseph Smith's time. It had nothing to do with being essential for exultation. It was exactly what Jesus did with his apostles before he sent them out into the world. Temple marriage Joseph Smith didn't teach that either. Go look up the history of section 131. A made up doctrine that came out of the journals of the famous liar William Clayton. Who also lied about polygamy. The doctrine of polygamy came out in 1852 to the church members. But there was no doctor on being sealed to your first wife. They put the cart before the horse and messed up. So a convenient Journal pops up out of nowhere. Orson Pratt adds in new and Everlasting Covenant and there you have Celestial Temple marriage. Added in 1876. Where did Joseph Smith teach it nowhere. The most highest fundamental doctrine of our church nowhere to be found. Joseph Smith didn't teach anything except Faith repentance baptism gift of the Holy Ghost. We don't need the warning of Jesus Christ The Book of Mormons for us. Church members are the only ones that read it. This is my gospel don't add or take away from it. No we're going to add to it we don't care what you say. What does fullness and restoration mean look up the definitions. Joseph Smith restored the fullness of the Gospel. So why do we have gospel Doctrine principles and ordinances showing up after his death. How can something be fully restored and then you're going to add to it. How can something be restored but it look nothing like the original. Ask church members and leaders these questions and you'll get the same answer I feel I know I believe the prophet is the prophet of God and would never lead us astray. But Paul tells us in the gospel be mindful of your feelings because they can betray you. So I tell them I know the truth because it's written in our scriptures, in our history, and in my heart through the Holy Ghost. I've tried to convince people. But men convinced against their will are of the same opinion still. I finally had to abandon the ship and have my records removed. The LDS church does not teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ that was restored to the Prophet Joseph Smith. And I do not want to stand on a Sandy Foundation.

I think that when Joseph said he "finished" the work of translating the Bible, he meant that he had done all he was going to do. You can look at a comparison of the KJV and the JST text (available online) and see that Joseph spent most of his time on select areas of the Bible, while neglecting other areas. You can also see, by looking at other translations in places like Biblehub, and by looking up the original Greek and Hebrew that he missed many other opportunities to render a plainer and more accurate translation. He tried to keep the text as close to the original as possible, but a true translation requires a much deeper dive. Nevertheless, what he produced is a lot better than nothing, and the parts that he translated in depth provide some amazing insights.

Great job Rob!! I have an idea for a video that you may already be working on, but I don’t know how to get hold of you? Anyways, the premise is Hingepoint 2019 and the scriptures President Nelson asked everyone( womens session, oct 2019) to read: D&C 25, 84, and 107. He followed up with a few announcements stressing the importance of reading theses scriptures in preparation to the next conference. Called it a Hingepoint in time! Neal A. Maxwell is the only other prophet or apostle I know who used such language. Anyways, I read the scriptures in Anticipation of conference. Conference came and went without a mention of hingepoint…it was a big nothing burger…so I thought. Sometime in early 2020 I woke up with an understanding of hingepoint…it went something like this: Suppose the Lord will use people to deliver a message, but the person delivering it is completely unaware as to why and what it means? Or, what I’d they do but have been persuaded not to deliver it? I’ll get to the point of hinge point, which is to uncover the dark things Joseph prophesied in D&C 123?! 25 is about Emma Smith, an elect lady in the Lord’s eyes. Vile in Brigham and the rest of the Brighamites eyes and even present day pioneer children have a bit of disdain for her because she didn’t go to salt lake and supposedly poisoned Joseph’s coffee!! I guess the WoW wasn’t endorced back then…I’m a convert @30-amazing experience. Still a member but I’m outspoken about the history and some scriptures which I read and share often in class…2Nephi 8:5-10, Mormon 8:34-37…Pres Nelson’s position on vac and mask, etc. 84 is many things, incl: Temple lot case(Whiteheads testimony), church condemnation, did I mention temple lot😊? 107 is church org. Original docs were changed regarding the “traveling 12 apostles”… There’s a lot there and someone like you (prob already working on it) will do it justice! Thanks for all your other vids and insights! Your friend, Randy

God gives a warning and Doctrine Covenants section 43 on how a prophet is called. Verse 5 and this shall be a law unto you, that ye received not the teachings of any that shall come before you as Revelation are commandment. Verse 6 and this I give unto you that you may not be deceived, that you may know they are not of me. So let me ask a question do we suppose that God is a liar? Brigham Young was not called in harmony and as section 43 tells us. So we were deceived, we are deceived and we shall remain to be deceived. If God lies he will cease to be God.

There would definitely be many that would leave but the one's that are there for the social aspects of the church, for the values it teaches, for the leadership opportunities, and many of the TBM's would stay, and I believe it would be a large portion of the members. Too many members will tell you they have prayed and know Nelson is a prophet so a break in the line for a time wouldn't deter them. You also have to remember that the church is very different today then it was when Brigham and his cohorts were in charge. People value the church for what it is today and many would stay for what it offers. The church had an opportunity in 2014 to set the record straight, accept the fall out and build from there, they had it again when they claimed they were going to be transparent and came out with the saints book. Had they done the right thing in either of those moments I think they would have been fine. If they did it now the fall out would probably be greater, still don't think it would destroy the church though.

Also, about adam and eve having kids before cain and Abel.... Why does D&C 107:40-42. Say Adam ordained Seth Why would adam all the sudden ordain Seth when he had a bunch of other sons before him? That doesn't seem to follow the patriarchal order we've assumed exists ( "the first born son gets the birthright") In fairness, it is possible that the previous sons and daughters rejected the Lord as the passage moses 5:12-13 states and therefore Seth was the first RIGHTEOUS son of adam and eves lineage. If that is true that opens the doors to doctrine and mysteries I doubt many of us (if any) have truly pondered. Perhaps that means the priesthood blessings rests on the first RIGHTEOUS son and not necessarily the firstborn son. Potential family relationships to study would be Esau vs jacob Jospeh and his 9 older brothers Jospeh's 2 sons ephraim and manasseh Jospeh Smith and His sons Hyrum Smith and his **God the father and his two named sons Jesus and Lucifer. (Is that why lucifer approached God's throne first? Was he the older of the two? Being that Jospeh of egypt is a type n shadow of Christ, was Christ younger than some of the other gods? yet he was chosen from the foundation of THIS WORLD and THIS "eternity", as the Savior because that was his next step in his eternal progression (that is, to become a Savior for others) If i understand correctly, Jospeh Smith said the Holy Ghost is more like our eternal spiritual self and not another "individual in the Godhead" Putting that aside for a moment, if that is NOT TRUE, and our current ideas of who the H.G. is (a seperate distinct spiritual individual in the Godhead) Then would that mean the H.G. is ANOTHER son of God the father??🤷‍♂️

The "firstborn" has always been seen as symbolism; it is a metaphor. Like the Church of the Firstborn, it symbolizes the righteousness and holiness and virtue of man or God and has been adding members since the days of Adam and Eve. It is not a physical church “made with hands” but a spiritual church “made without hands.” The Holy Ghost is obviously symbolic and represents the same. “Holy” is simply describing righteousness [the verb] found in godliness of character and “Ghost” or “Spirit” is defining [the noun] which is any individual who immerses himself or herself into those “holy” attributes which defines a godly people who love “God” [godliness] with all their Spirit, Mind and Body, in that order. Otherwise, the whole concept of worship is founded in “formalism” a prelude into idolatry.

We don't even blink at open institutionalized priestcraft anymore, and why help the poor when you can hoard $300bn worth of assets instead? Another example is how temples have been transformed into a lever of control and source of pride. We have turned them into idols by putting our emphasis on being "temple worthy" rather than on being disciples of Christ, and if you question Church leadership too loudly, the privilege of temple worship is withdrawn - which in LDS dogma means you've given up your shot at salvation until you repent, apostate. I personally am open to the Adam God Doctrine. I think there is so much that we do not understand about Godliness. Right now there may not be much understanding of the scriptures to accept Adam God Doctrine. However we also have an article of Faith that tells us that the scripture needs to be translated correctly to be accepted and to say that the Bible is inerrant is foolishness. We all know that the Bible was tampered with and translation altered. If you look into the record of Zebedee Coltrin, he talks of Joseph showing Brother Coltrin a vision of Adam and Eve. The question has to be asked. Why would Joseph reveal Adam and Eve to brother Coltrin and not Jesus or Even Father. Perhaps Adam is Father and we just don’t understand all the details yet. This is why I am open to the Adam God Doctrine. There is so much yet to learn. We believe that God will yet reveal many and great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. God our Father could do so much without our understanding or approval. I stand to reserve judgment on this doctrine to a time when further light and knowledge will be given. I can accept it in either direction. I think it foolishness to judge the doctrine on the scriptures available to us today. There will be so much scripture to come forth that may change all of our ideas.

In Joseph Smith's presidential declaration of 1844, he revealed that the "skins of blackness" referred to the SPIRITUAL state of man. And in truth regarding the seed of Manasseh/Native Americans, historical evidences prove they were collectively a brown, red and tawny people, and were largely reclassified as Negroes by the Gentiles. The book of Mormon prophesies many times that we would arise to our true identities during this time of the ending of the Gentiles, and that during this time we would all finally understand the great words of Isiaiah. @@bryanl.taylor6249 Likewise, you don't know me. We do not study or acknowledge our history, and instead cling to the false traditions that history produced. As for babies and bathwater, I agree. The "Baby" is Jesus, Joseph Smith, and the Book of Mormon, while the bathwater is the cruft of false traditions that have attached like barnacles - one example being the conflation of "warm fuzzies" with revelation. IF one's devotion to the Church is such that it distracts from a diligent effort to build a relationship with Christ and seek His face, then it is a distraction of Satan. My point is that the baby is drowning in the bathwater. We need to repent as a people and abandon our false traditions if we're to save it. Our leadership is failing to lead us in that direction. The general authorities will doubtless preach many pleasing doctrines this weekend. The only false traditions that endure are the pleasing ones.

Abraham 1:27 speaks of a lineage that could not have the right of Priesthood. The priesthood in our day would be irresponsible to not seek guidance about this matter. If there still is such a lineage in our day then it is critical to know about it. I refuse to throw Brigham under the bus in this matter. I accept that there needed to be Word of the Lord revelation, but until then it was correct to heed Brigham's counsel. Those who seek the praise of the world are more worried about what others will think about this than living by the law and will of God. By the way I do believe the Lord has given Word of the Lord revelation about the matter in our day to a prophet cast out of the church. That revelation shows that there were errors in what Brigham taught, but his counsel was still correct.

As far as slavery, BY couldn’t have conceived of the Civil War happening and made many of those opinions before the war. He was wrong to talk so crass about slavery, and about the servant of servants (which is an interesting phrase since prophets, who have the priesthood are also “servants”) but perhaps he was just taking the curse of Canaan too literally when all the had to do was read Abraham 1, which says nothing about inferiority or servitude, only priesthood (paraphrasing Richard Bushman’s Rough Stone Rolling). We don’t believe in infallibility. Even BY once said he feared the day the saints would lean too much on church leaders instead of their own minds (paraphrasing again). Damn this is exhausting having to reverse engineer all your arguments because you cherry pick and leave out important nuance.

Egyotus ALSO had a son named Pharoah also the brother of the unnamed duaghter. 5.Pharaoh (the eldest son) became ruler in the land (likely because women (i.e. egyptus' unamed daughter) were not allowed to rule In a patriarchal order??)

I mentioned Joseph's aversion to interracial marriage at 3:28-3:38. Of the four black Mormons who claimed to have lived in the Prophet Joseph's home, I am only aware of Jane James' account of her experience there: "Yes, indeed, I guess I did know the Prophet Joseph. That lovely hand! He used to put it out to me. Never passed me without shaking hands with me wherever he was. Oh, he was the finest man I ever saw on earth. I did not get much of a chance to talk with him. He'd always smile, always just like he did to his children. He used to be just like I was his child. O yes, my, I used to read in the Bible so much and in the Book of Mormon and Revelations, and now I have to sit and can't see to read, and I think over them things, and I tell you I do wake up in the middle of the night, and I just think about Brother Joseph and Sister Emma and how good they was to me. When I went there I only had two things on me, no shoes nor stockings, wore them all out on the road. I had a trunk full of beautiful clothes, which I had sent around by water, and I was thinking of having them when I got to Nauvoo, and they stole them at St. Louis, and I did not have a rag of them. They was looking for us because I wrote them a letter. There was eight of us, my mother and two sisters and a brother and sister-in-law, and we had two children, one they had to carry all the way there, and we traveled a thousand miles. Sister Emma she come to the door first and she says, "Walk in, come in all of you," and she went up stairs, and down he comes and goes into the sitting room and told the girls that they had there, he wanted to have the room this evening, for we have got company come. I knew it was Brother Joseph because I had seen him in a dream. He went and brought Dr. Bernhisel down and Sister Emma, and introduced him to everyone of us, and said, "Now, I want you to tell me about some of your hard trials. I want to hear of some of those hard trials." And we told him. He slapped his hands. "Dr. Bernhisel," he said, "what do you think of that?" And he said, "I think if I had had it to do I should not have come; would not have had faith enough." I was the head leader. I had been in the Church a year and a little over. That is sixty-nine years ago. [She was at the time about twenty years of age.] So then our folks got places. He kept them a whole week until they got homes, and I was left. He came in every morning to see us and shake hands and know how we all were. One morning, before he came in, I had been up to the landing and found all my clothes were gone. Well, I sat there crying. He came in and looked around. "Why where's all the folks?" "Why Brother," I says, "they have all got themselves places; but," I says, "I haint got any place," and I burst out a-crying. "We won't have tears here," he says. "But," I says, "I have got no home." "Well you've got a home here," he says, "Have you seen Sister Emma this morning." "No, sir," I says. So he started out and went upstairs and brought Sister Emma down and says, "Here's a girl who says she's got no home. Don't you think she's got a home here?" And she says, "If she wants to stay here." And he says, "Do you want to stay here?" "Yes, sir," says I. "Well, now," he says, "Sister Emma you just talk to her and see how she is." He says, "Good morning," and he went. We had come afoot, a thousand miles. We lay in bushes, and in barns and outdoors, and traveled until there was a frost just like a snow, and we had to walk on that frost. I could not tell you, but I wanted to go to Brother Joseph. I did not talk much to him, but every time he saw me he would say, "God bless you," and pat me on the shoulder. To Sister Emma, he said, "go and clothe her up, go down to the store and clothe her up." Sister Emma did. She got me clothes by the bolt. I had everything. The folks that come to me think I ought to talk and tell what Brother Joseph said, but he was hid up (his enemies were seeking his life) and I cannot remember now. I could not begin to tell you what he was, only this way, he was tall, over six feet; he was a fine, big, noble, beautiful man! He had blue eyes and light hair, and very fine white skin. When he was killed, I liked to a died myself, if it had not been for the teachers, I felt so bad. I could have died, just laid down and died; and I was sick abed, and the teachers told me, "You don't want to die because he did. He died for us, and now we all want to live and do all the good we can." Things came to pass what he prophesied about the colored race being freed. Things that he said has come to pass. I did not hear that, but I knew of it. After I saw him plain, I was certain he was a prophet because I knew it. I was willing to come and gather, and when he came in with Dr. Bernhisel I knew him. Did not have to tell me because I knew him. I knew him when I saw him back in old Connecticut in a vision, saw him plain and knew he was a prophet. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and there will never be any other on earth. It has come to stay." (Young Women's Journal, 1905, pp. 551-553)

Dear brother. You should apply these same standards in examining the Bible against the inspired version. You will undoubtedly find that the dead sea scrolls on Isaiah is nothing like Joseph’s Isaiah which declare him to be a seer. Also in the New Testament Jesus ended the aaronic priesthood and brought everyone into the melchizidek priesthood. Also Paul’s discussion regarding baptism of the dead has nothing to do with what the LDS church teaches. If you are an honest researcher of truth, you will come to understand that Joseph borrowed so much of the inspired version of the Bible from the Adam Clark commentary. I used to be a very devout Mormon but after digging into the Bible I have come to realize that Joseph was not a prophet but he was deceiver. And then I would also suggest that you get onto Dan Vogel‘s RU-vid channel. He used to be a devout Mormon but he explains everything about how the book of Mormon came to be and the gold plates and everything. It is definitely an eye-opener. What all of this has done for me, is given me a renewed testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ and that everything centers on Jesus not eternal families. The thing that attracts people to the LDS church who are already believers in Jesus, is the eternal family concept. The LDS temples have everything to do with progression as gods instead of worship of Jesus Christ. If you’ll compare the book of revelation with Moses tabernacle you will see that even the temple in heaven was centered on Jesus not progression of gods. One of the mistakes that Joseph did was put pagan symbols on the temple. In the Bible it specifically says not to use suns, moon, stars and pagan symbols. That was the downfall of Israel in ancient times. Unfortunately, Joseph did not know the Bible either. The Bible is very clear that Zion and the New Jerusalem is centered in Israel. Joseph was like Brigham. He brought forth doctrines that are not true. Don’t be afraid to investigate. It will free you to have a deeper relationship with God

I know for a fact Brigham Young was against slavery in Utah territory. Brigham Young told the Ute Indians they had to get rid of slavery. The custom of the Sanpitchi Natives was to raid other tribes, Spanish, and other Europeans. When raiding they would take slaves. Brigham told Walkara (Ute Chief) the practice of raiding and slavery would have to slop if they wanted to join the church.

Abraham 1:21-27 21 Now this king of Egypt was a descendant from the loins of Ham, and was a partaker of the blood of the Canaanites by birth. 22 From this descent sprang all the Egyptians, and thus the blood of the Canaanites was preserved in the land. 23 The land of Egypt being first discovered by a woman, who was the daughter of Ham, and the daughter of Egyptus, which in the Chaldean signifies Egypt, which signifies that which is forbidden; 24 When this woman discovered the land it was under water, who afterward settled her sons in it; and thus, from Ham, sprang that race which preserved the curse in the land. 25 Now the first government of Egypt was established by Pharaoh, the eldest son of Egyptus, the daughter of Ham, and it was after the manner of the government of Ham, which was patriarchal. 26 Pharaoh, being a righteous man, established his kingdom and judged his people wisely and justly all his days, seeking earnestly to imitate that order established by the fathers in the first generations, in the days of the first patriarchal reign, even in the reign of Adam, and also of Noah, his father, who blessed him with the blessings of the earth, and with the blessings of wisdom, but cursed him as pertaining to the Priesthood. 27 Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father was led away by their idolatry; Moses 7:6-8, 22 6 And again the Lord said unto me: Look; and I looked towards the north, and I beheld the people of Canaan, which dwelt in tents. 7 And the Lord said unto me: Prophesy; and I prophesied, saying: Behold the people of Canaan, which are numerous, shall go forth in battle array against the people of Shum, and shall slay them that they shall utterly be destroyed; and the people of Canaan shall divide themselves in the land, and the land shall be barren and unfruitful, and none other people shall dwell there but the people of Canaan; 8 For behold, the Lord shall curse the land with much heat, and the barrenness thereof shall go forth forever; and there was a blackness came upon all the children of Canaan, that they were despised among all people. 22 And Enoch also beheld the residue of the people which were the sons of Adam; and they were a mixture of all the seed of Adam save it was the seed of Cain, for the seed of Cain were black, and had not place among them.

2Ne 5:20-25 20 Wherefore, the word of the Lord was fulfilled which he spake unto me, saying that: Inasmuch as they will not hearken unto thy words they shall be cut off from the presence of the Lord. And behold, they were cut off from his presence. 21 And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them. 22 And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities. 23 And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done. 24 And because of their cursing which was upon them they did become an idle people, full of mischief and subtlety, and did seek in the wilderness for beasts of prey. 25 And the Lord God said unto me: They shall be a scourge unto thy seed, to stir them up in remembrance of me; and inasmuch as they will not remember me, and hearken unto my words, they shall scourge them even unto destruction. ------------ Alma 3:6-19 6 And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob, and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men. 7 And their brethren sought to destroy them, therefore they were cursed; and the Lord God set a mark upon them, yea, upon Laman and Lemuel, and also the sons of Ishmael, and Ishmaelitish women. 8 And this was done that their seed might be distinguished from the seed of their brethren, that thereby the Lord God might preserve his people, that they might not mix and believe in incorrect traditions which would prove their destruction. 9 And it came to pass that whosoever did mingle his seed with that of the Lamanites did bring the same curse upon his seed. 10 Therefore, whosoever suffered himself to be led away by the Lamanites was called under that head, and there was a mark set upon him. 11 And it came to pass that whosoever would not believe in the tradition of the Lamanites, but believed those records which were brought out of the land of Jerusalem, and also in the tradition of their fathers, which were correct, who believed in the commandments of God and kept them, were called the Nephites, or the people of Nephi, from that time forth- 12 And it is they who have kept the records which are true of their people, and also of the people of the Lamanites. 13 Now we will return again to the Amlicites, for they also had a mark set upon them; yea, they set the mark upon themselves, yea, even a mark of red upon their foreheads. 14 Thus the word of God is fulfilled, for these are the words which he said to Nephi: Behold, the Lamanites have I cursed, and I will set a mark on them that they and their seed may be separated from thee and thy seed, from this time henceforth and forever, except they repent of their wickedness and turn to me that I may have mercy upon them. 15 And again: I will set a mark upon him that mingleth his seed with thy brethren, that they may be cursed also. 16 And again: I will set a mark upon him that fighteth against thee and thy seed. 17 And again, I say he that departeth from thee shall no more be called thy seed; and I will bless thee, and whomsoever shall be called thy seed, henceforth and forever; and these were the promises of the Lord unto Nephi and to his seed. 18 Now the Amlicites knew not that they were fulfilling the words of God when they began to mark themselves in their foreheads; nevertheless they had come out in open rebellion against God; therefore it was expedient that the curse should fall upon them. 19 Now I would that ye should see that they brought upon themselves the curse; and even so doth every man that is cursed bring upon himself his own condemnation.

And thus ended the thirteenth year. ------------ 3Ne 19:22-30 22 Father, thou hast given them the Holy Ghost because they believe in me; and thou seest that they believe in me because thou hearest them, and they pray unto me; and they pray unto me because I am with them. 23 And now Father, I pray unto thee for them, and also for all those who shall believe on their words, that they may believe in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one. 24 And it came to pass that when Jesus had thus prayed unto the Father, he came unto his disciples, and behold, they did still continue, without ceasing, to pray unto him; and they did not multiply many words, for it was given unto them what they should pray, and they were filled with desire. 25 And it came to pass that Jesus blessed them as they did pray unto him; and his countenance did smile upon them, and the light of his countenance did shine upon them, and behold they were as white as the countenance and also the garments of Jesus; and behold the whiteness thereof did exceed all the whiteness, yea, even there could be nothing upon earth so white as the whiteness thereof. 26 And Jesus said unto them: Pray on; nevertheless they did not cease to pray. 27 And he turned from them again, and went a little way off and bowed himself to the earth; and he prayed again unto the Father, saying: 28 Father, I thank thee that thou hast purified those whom I have chosen, because of their faith, and I pray for them, and also for them who shall believe on their words, that they may be purified in me, through faith on their words, even as they are purified in me. 29 Father, I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me out of the world, because of their faith, that they may be purified in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one, that I may be glorified in them. 30 And when Jesus had spoken these words he came again unto his disciples; and behold they did pray steadfastly, without ceasing, unto him; and he did smile upon them again; and behold they were white, even as Jesus.

Alma 5:19-39 (really the entire chapter) 19 I say unto you, can ye look up to God at that day with a pure heart and clean hands? I say unto you, can you look up, having the image of God engraven upon your countenances? 20 I say unto you, can ye think of being saved when you have yielded yourselves to become subjects to the devil? 21 I say unto you, ye will know at that day that ye cannot be saved; for there can no man be saved except his garments are washed white; yea, his garments must be purified until they are cleansed from all stain, through the blood of him of whom it has been spoken by our fathers, who should come to redeem his people from their sins. 22 And now I ask of you, my brethren, how will any of you feel, if ye shall stand before the bar of God, having your garments stained with blood and all manner of filthiness? Behold, what will these things testify against you? 23 Behold will they not testify that ye are murderers, yea, and also that ye are guilty of all manner of wickedness? 24 Behold, my brethren, do ye suppose that such an one can have a place to sit down in the kingdom of God, with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob, and also all the holy prophets, whose garments are cleansed and are spotless, pure and white? 25 I say unto you, Nay; except ye make our Creator a liar from the beginning, or suppose that he is a liar from the beginning, ye cannot suppose that such can have place in the kingdom of heaven; but they shall be cast out for they are the children of the kingdom of the devil. 26 And now behold, I say unto you, my brethren, if ye have experienced a change of heart, and if ye have felt to sing the song of redeeming love, I would ask, can ye feel so now? 27 Have ye walked, keeping yourselves blameless before God? Could ye say, if ye were called to die at this time, within yourselves, that ye have been sufficiently humble? That your garments have been cleansed and made white through the blood of Christ, who will come to redeem his people from their sins? 28 Behold, are ye stripped of pride? I say unto you, if ye are not ye are not prepared to meet God. Behold ye must prepare quickly; for the kingdom of heaven is soon at hand, and such an one hath not eternal life. 29 Behold, I say, is there one among you who is not stripped of envy? I say unto you that such an one is not prepared; and I would that he should prepare quickly, for the hour is close at hand, and he knoweth not when the time shall come; for such an one is not found guiltless. 30 And again I say unto you, is there one among you that doth make a mock of his brother, or that heapeth upon him persecutions? 31 Wo unto such an one, for he is not prepared, and the time is at hand that he must repent or he cannot be saved! 32 Yea, even wo unto all ye workers of iniquity; repent, repent, for the Lord God hath spoken it! 33 Behold, he sendeth an invitation unto all men, for the arms of mercy are extended towards them, and he saith: Repent, and I will receive you. 34 Yea, he saith: Come unto me and ye shall partake of the fruit of the tree of life; yea, ye shall eat and drink of the bread and the waters of life freely; 35 Yea, come unto me and bring forth works of righteousness, and ye shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire- 36 For behold, the time is at hand that whosoever bringeth forth not good fruit, or whosoever doeth not the works of righteousness, the same have cause to wail and mourn. 37 O ye workers of iniquity; ye that are puffed up in the vain things of the world, ye that have professed to have known the ways of righteousness nevertheless have gone astray, as sheep having no shepherd, notwithstanding a shepherd hath called after you and is still calling after you, but ye will not hearken unto his voice! 38 Behold, I say unto you, that the good shepherd doth call you; yea, and in his own name he doth call you, which is the name of Christ; and if ye will not hearken unto the voice of the good shepherd, to the name by which ye are called, behold, ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd. 39 And now if ye are not the sheep of the good shepherd, of what fold are ye? Behold, I say unto you, that the devil is your shepherd, and ye are of his fold; and now, who can deny this? Behold, I say unto you, whosoever denieth this is a liar and a child of the devil.

1Ne 12:6-23 6 And I saw the heavens open, and the Lamb of God descending out of heaven; and he came down and showed himself unto them. 7 And I also saw and bear record that the Holy Ghost fell upon twelve others; and they were ordained of God, and chosen. 8 And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the twelve disciples of the Lamb, who are chosen to minister unto thy seed. 9 And he said unto me: Thou rememberest the twelve apostles of the Lamb? Behold they are they who shall judge the twelve tribes of Israel; wherefore, the twelve ministers of thy seed shall be judged of them; for ye are of the house of Israel. 10 And these twelve ministers whom thou beholdest shall judge thy seed. And, behold, they are righteous forever; for because of their faith in the Lamb of God their garments are made white in his blood. 11 And the angel said unto me: Look! And I looked, and beheld three generations pass away in righteousness; and their garments were white even like unto the Lamb of God. And the angel said unto me: These are made white in the blood of the Lamb, because of their faith in him. 12 And I, Nephi, also saw many of the fourth generation who passed away in righteousness. 13 And it came to pass that I saw the multitudes of the earth gathered together. 14 And the angel said unto me: Behold thy seed, and also the seed of thy brethren. 15 And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the people of my seed gathered together in multitudes against the seed of my brethren; and they were gathered together to battle. 16 And the angel spake unto me, saying: Behold the fountain of filthy water which thy father saw; yea, even the river of which he spake; and the depths thereof are the depths of hell. 17 And the mists of darkness are the temptations of the devil, which blindeth the eyes, and hardeneth the hearts of the children of men, and leadeth them away into broad roads, that they perish and are lost. 18 And the large and spacious building, which thy father saw, is vain imaginations and the pride of the children of men. And a great and a terrible gulf divideth them; yea, even the word of the Justice of the Eternal God, and the Messiah who is the Lamb of God, of whom the Holy Ghost beareth record, from the beginning of the world until this time, and from this time henceforth and forever. 19 And while the angel spake these words, I beheld and saw that the seed of my brethren did contend against my seed, according to the word of the angel; and because of the pride of my seed, and the temptations of the devil, I beheld that the seed of my brethren did overpower the people of my seed. 20 And it came to pass that I beheld, and saw the people of the seed of my brethren that they had overcome my seed; and they went forth in multitudes upon the face of the land. 21 And I saw them gathered together in multitudes; and I saw wars and rumors of wars among them; and in wars and rumors of wars I saw many generations pass away. 22 And the angel said unto me: Behold these shall dwindle in unbelief. 23 And it came to pass that I beheld, after they had dwindled in unbelief they became a dark, and loathsome, and a filthy people, full of idleness and all manner of abominations. ------------ Alma 12:10-13 10 Now, as I said concerning the holy order, or this high priesthood, there were many who were ordained and became high priests of God; and it was on account of their exceeding faith and repentance, and their righteousness before God, they choosing to repent and work righteousness rather than to perish; 11 Therefore they were called after this holy order, and were sanctified, and their garments were washed white through the blood of the Lamb. 12 Now they, after being sanctified by the Holy Ghost, having their garments made white, being pure and spotless before God, could not look upon sin save it were with abhorrence; and there were many, exceedingly great many, who were made pure and entered into the rest of the Lord their God. 13 And now, my brethren, I would that ye should humble yourselves before God, and bring forth fruit meet for repentance, that ye may also enter into that rest.

While the scriptures are clear it is a "SKIN of blackness" so that one could EASILY distinguish a person's family line, I would like to point out though, that no matter how "white" we all think we are, ALL of us will look "black" and filthy in the Lord's presence. The Lord is bright and white and glorious that even the sun becomes darkened in His presence. So we ought not to think, hey I'm Caucasian, i must He doin pretty well heh heh.." we all look filthy and dark to the Lord. Ut yes, those who are redeemed and dwell in the presence of God in Heaven will be WHITE and BRIGHT, and Glorious! Infact they are called "beings of light" LIGHT Is the opposite of darkness. So much so that these beings of light (i.e. God the father, Jesus Christ) do NOT have a shadow. Now reference Roman's 8 and you'll see we , "if we suffer with Him", are allowed to be "joint heirs with Christ" Go read psalm 82, John 10, revelation 3 for further script. Proof of this.

Yes, the "skins of blackness" was a term that was actually describing the spiritual state of the people. Joseph Smith's presidential declaration of 1844 reveals that the "skins of blackness" refers to the SPIRITUAL state of man.

I will not presume to judge Brigham Young. That is not our place. All things take place for a reason. Brigham watched the church driven from place to place, members mobbed, raped and murdered largely because of church's opposition of slavery. Brigham's thoughts were shaped in that hostile reality, and undoubtedly did what the he thought necessary to protect the saints and allow the church to grow. Slavery and polygamy issues of the day provide the very stumbling block and opposition in all things required in the scriptures. The Lord provided these stumbling blocks for all of us to strengthen our faith. We should support the prophet, not seek to guide him. That's the Lord's job!

@@michaelsutherland5848 That's a fair assessment from what I've read. Brigham Young did say that interracial couples should be shot on the spot. He also believed that Adam was God, believed in blood atonement, that people lived on the moon and the sun, and that Christ practiced polygamy, fathered children and was crucified for practicing polygamy. (Not even the LDS church believes in such vile and obscene blasphemies any more.) Brigham Young had serious mental health illnesses. I suppose not as serious or at least as obvious as Joseph Smith's. Lol…BY was right about the restriction, but mistook Cain for Canaan. Even Joseph Smith said the “curse of Canaan” had not been removed in a letter in 1836 to Oliver Cowdery, and not to preach to the slaves, but to their masters first. Had Joseph not been murdered, he might have begun the restriction himself because of his knowledge and what he was given in Abraham 1. Why he didn’t make the connection in practice is a mystery. D&C 121 says people can be cursed pertaining to the priesthood, and 113 says Israel has rights to it. BY said there was no such thing as “white people,” and that we are all children of Adam. He was wrong about the mark, and skin color, and our church teaches that we don’t treat every opinion ever uttered by a church leader is doctrine. Abraham 1 says nothing about Cain. While some commentary was wrong, the restriction was from God. But blacks (who aren’t really “black,” we are all shades of brown, even Vikings), weren’t cursed because they were darker, and they weren’t darker because they were cursed. Guess what and who else is cursed…the earth, Adam, the people at the Tower of Babel, the Lamanites, eventually the Nephites, all mankind to some degree, but Israel back to Abraham, had first “dibs” on the priesthood. While Brigham Young wasn’t perfect, and was quite crass, he wasn’t Nathan Bedford Forest, and the “restriction,” or “Israel’s right to the priesthood,” was not Jim Crow. You make a lot of strong contrasts, but there is a lot more nuance that even your two hour video couldn’t cover.

I used to believe this for 20 years until I dug into the origin of the teaching. Sadly (thankfully?) I have learned that this is not a true doctrine. It has caused much compulsion of conscience and scared humble followers of Christ into submission to their “priesthood” leaders. The truth of God does go forth boldly, nobly, and independent, as it were, but not through a corporate church, but rather a spiritual church-the Church of the Lamb that Nephi saw in vision.

Why did you just attack the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, acting like the Church was the only one with such a policy? As if going against the grain of the world was not what got Joseph Smith killed? I mean really. All you did was put quotes up. Unless you want to say the Lord allowed prophets to move His church in a direction He did not want, then every thing you did is false in the church. The ordinances, the keys, all died with joseph, which they didn't. You judge men according to our time of peace while they were in a constant war with the world. You have no right nor authority. One taught different "doctrine" or did one have a role while the other was just trying to keep everything afloat? These one sided conversations "we shouldn't talk about things that keep the church in a good light" is pretty much the same as, "we should show the bad stuff in the church". No empathy for what was happening at the time to the brother's and sisters at all and those who were trying to lead. If the church was really what you want it to be, it would be the cleansing fire of the world that would destroy everything and put God on the throne of the world, but we can't have that because we don't have people that are willing to go against the grain of the world. They are only men who think to highly of themselves. The fact they said the same stuff at the time tells me they were trying to keep the church from not getting destroyed says a lot.

Unfortunately you’ll need to chastise Nephi, Mormon, and Moroni about the “church.” And your churches - yea - even everyone…. (Does this include the LDS church? Or is this for all the rest of them…) O ye wicked, and perverse, and stiffnecked people, why have you built up churches unto yourselves to get gain? Why have ye transfigured the holy word of God that ye might bring damnation upon your souls? Behold, look ye unto the revelations of God, for behold, the time cometh at that day when all these things must be fulfilled. Behold, the Lord hath shewn unto me great and marvelous things concerning that which must shortly come at that day when these things shall come forth among you. Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shewn you unto me, and I know your doing, and I know that ye do walk in the pride of your hearts. And there are none, save a few only, who do not lift themselves up in the pride of their hearts, unto the wearing of very fine apparel, unto envying, and strifes, and malice, and persecutions, and all manner of iniquity. And your churches, yea, even every one, have become polluted because of the pride of your hearts. For behold, ye do love money, and your substance, and your fine apparel, and the adorning of your churches, more than ye love the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted. O ye pollutions, ye hypocrites, ye teachers who sell yourselves for that which will canker, why have ye polluted the holy church of God? Why are ye ashamed to take upon you the name of Christ? Why do ye not think that greater is the value of an endless happiness than that misery which never dies? Because of the praise of the world? Why do ye adorn yourselves with that which hath no life, and yet suffer the hungry, and the needy, and the naked, and the sick, and the afflicted to pass by you and notice them not? Yea, why do ye build up your secret abominations to get gain? And cause that widows should mourn before the Lord, and also orphans to mourn before the Lord, and also the blood of their fathers and their husbands to cry unto the Lord from the ground for vengeance upon your heads? Behold, the sword of vengeance hangeth over you, and the time soon cometh that he avengeth the blood of the saints upon you, for he will not suffer their cries any longer.

@@jamescrane6583 I’m not sure I understand your statement. The entire point of receiving a calling from God is to deliver a message. The way the LDS church views “callings” as “inspired” from God is entirely different from scripture. God calls men with his own voice. Any time a message needs to be delivered it is God that called and God that has chosen. Brigham Young was never called of God and never chosen of him. He campaigned to be elected as President of the Church. He claims he never was called or chosen of God.
