Bright Memory Infinite (PC, Xbox Series X/S) is a brief first person shooter experience with crazy visuals and cool gameplay. Let's talk. Subscribe for more: www.youtube.co...
Remember, if you own the previous Bright Memory game, you get Bright Memory Infinite for FREE. It was an awesome game. And this one is worth it esp. if you played the first one.
You sure? I bought the original one and after seeing your comment I was about to download Infinite, only to find that it says buy for $20 for me... EDIT: Actually it automatically added it to my library once I clicked on the page and just installed it for free!!
this game looks unreal, someone needs to invest in these devs ASAP edit: played for a while, flashy but buggy. game didn't feel polished, got a refund :(
@@BoHorror Investing doesn't mean stuffing them with developers or giving them to a AAA company. It means giving them money. Any sized team can do more crap with more cash.
@@godofthecripples1237 It's a Chinese studio, they're all partly owned by China in some way. This particular company went under flak with their first game for stealing assets from other developers without permission.
@Sig Yes it's very obvious the game was made in UE4, which is basically what 90% of games run on these days. But I think you missed the entire point if this video. For a team of three or so people this is very impressive. Just because a game dev uses unreal engine doesn't mean their game is going to automatically look amazing and play great. There are countless unreal engine cashgrabs with free marketplace assets and look/play like doodo. Yes the story of this game isnt anything great, but the devs put in time and effort to build good looking environments and the actual combat is rock solid for an fps game. The game never promised to be triple A, but still manages to provide triple A aspects despite not having proper financial backing or a even a moderately sized dev team behind it. So I say give credit where credit is due, it's not even close to groundbreaking but still very impressive for what it is.
That's what smart game devs do; they come up with a gameplay mechanic first, then work everything around that. This way, if something gets cut or changed, the rest of the game doesn't get affected too much.
yeah honestly this should be a no brainer. Unless the game is about story telling, the gameplay should be the core of the development, cause you know, it's a game. But I digress.
If only Cyberpunk 2077 felt like it followed any sort of model like this. If they even just used their own fake "gameplay" demos, to guide their gameplay mechanics for roleplaying, then that game could have been awesome. Sometimes large devs need to take a step back and learn from the new, smaller talent like this small team.
@@CyberianFaux It wasn’t a dev thing. Ofc they hoped to create what they showed in trailers, just the greedy executives and problems with investors restricted that.
I dont get the hate from the remaster honestly sure those games need. Full blown remake but realistically that never going to happen and be each title separately. In terms of remaster I think they did a good job and above what anyone else would've done as they did like a hard remaster aka did way more then simple port a title over.
Considering this game was created by such a small team, I think it’s pretty understandable that it was only two hours. They made what they could with the resources they had. I’m just glad I got to experience it. Even if it was 20 bucks. I’m supporting a smaller company no? It’s an investment for bigger and better games for the future.
Gotta be careful, don’t spend your money on promises. If you enjoy the product then buy it as is not as it could be. How many companies have fallen from grace? BioWare, Bethesda, CD projekt red. Companies are not your friends. Overambitious developers, mismanagement, corporate greed, all of them willing to sell you broken, half finished products with the promise that they’ll be better in the future. And the micro transactions that exits on most games now
@@oranpyre3932 I completely get what your saying. I’d like to think there is some hope at least for some companies like ember lab who made kena: bridge to spirits but it’s difficult in the current climate. It’s a good thing to point out nevertheless. I’m more saying it’s a win-win situation. I thought it looked good and I bought it. The supporting smaller companies is more of an afterthought. I don’t go around buying stuff simply because I wanna support them.
@@NoOne-oe3co AAA games are defined by their massive budgets and marketing pushes, not the graphics. This is a single A game. If this studio did get a AAA budget, who knows what they could do.
BUY THIS GAME! We absolutely need to support teams like this. The AAA market has become and will remain a cash grab, where the #1 question producers have when designing a game is "what is the best way to bilk our customers for as much money as possible as fast as possible?" Everything else to them is secondary and is in service to that one objective.
The game is published by PLAYISM.. If anything, games supported by Chinese publishers are much more well off than games in the AAA market. Even if the game does badly, the Chinese publisher still pays them compensation. Especially after the games taking a hit from their bullying of a single person for accidentally calling Taiwan a country..
The shortest game I've ever played was probably Spyro: A New Beginning on the PS2. It took me 2 hours to 100% and I think it was a $30-40 game when it first released
I remember playing that game and reaching almost the end in one day, then going to sleep because I didn't have a memory card to save and waking up realizing my mom turned the game off in the morning. Was so frustrated had to start all over again but this time finished it in one day at 6 in the morning. Not gonna lie I loved that game was my first game I finished. I was young didn't know much about gaming but now I realize it was really short like damn some of these games you can't even finish in months..... For the normal players anyways 🤣
I mean yes $20 might be a little high but I will support these devs, they definitely know how to come up with a good fps game and I want to see what will they bring us in the future. As you know the team is really small and I don't think they had the budget to hire more people yet, I am eagerly waiting until they do.
This developer team created a game that looks and plays better than countless AAA game with a fraction of the budget Just imagine what they could do with a AAA game budget! I support them all the way and am excited to see what they can do next 🔥
what the fuck so this game does something truly unique you've always dreamed of in a game, or did you just happen to imagine this exact execution of a seemingly half bland fps?
@@ottojagenstedt9740 your name is the reason why you’re so angry i can’t blame you for that, your parents probably regret having you so this is where your hatred comes from; sorry
I feel as though games like this are basically the developer working toward putting together a resumé. A short, punchy game is a great way to show what you can do and make an impression when looking to secure funding for bigger developments. Hopefully that is indeed the case because I like what I see so far!
For me it may come down to 2 factors for the $ vs time discussion. 1. Does it have any replay value which could stretch the time? 2. Is it worth showing financial support for a small company like this so they can in the future expand on this game or create something even better? Personally I like # 2 as the best option.
Solid take since we NEED more Indy devs seeing as the AAA market has become a game of "who can screw their customer base the fastest and for the most $", where GaaS and XP boosters and loot boxes seem to be the one and only goal they have. I wish this review would have pointed some of those things out (no loot boxes, no games as a service, no micro transactions, etc) Personally, I'd give this team $20 even if I didn't get the game for it.
@@1_underthesun you can buy the game to gift it to a friend on steam and you can buy it yourself so if you want to help the developers you can buy the game to a friend and buy it yourself
I prefer Cyberpunk in all of it's glitch-ridden glory to this hot mess. Worth the $8 I invested in it considering I just realized I got Infinite for free today, though.
No score is given, all opinions are subjective in the videos, and mostly just describe gameplay mechanics. I get what you mean but it’s not the exact same.
I hope the developers of this game are watching this video with tears in their eyes and very proud of what they have accomplished, I'm sure they gave it their all to create this game and hope they're rewarded for it in game sells
This game looks as if it has more effort than many AAA studios. That says a lot. It even falls into line with what I told only of my friends recently: The only companies that will work to show you a good product is a small company who needs to build trust and respect.
I think as long as he doesn't let his studio go public with stockholders, he can maintain the quality of his games. I think that's what ruined CDPR and Cyberpunk 2077. The devs themselves didn't want to release it in that state, but the stockholders didn't care and insisted (or else they pull their money out).
bought this on the launch day. Completed it in 4 hrs. Gameplay is amazing. And for someone buys a lot of games on steam only to sit still in library, believe me you'll complete this game and it feels great
Yes, screw pixel art. Old games didn't look like that because the developers thought it was nostalgically amusing, they looked like that because that was the best that could be done with the available technology.
The 1st game is even better (although it clocks in at about :30/40 minutes). It has a larger variety of enemies, cooler upgrades and much better lore (that was changed in infinite). Besides that, it has actual value in replaying it, since you can only unlock about a 3rd of the abilities in each playthrough.
@@bensmith5288 Re3 remake is actually a few dollars more expensive than the average AAA game at release on steam for me at $93aud and according to howlongtobeat, the average is 6-8hrs for the main. Obviously it depends on peoples values and how they play, but ya, there can be an argument about its worth
@@bensmith5288 notice how they wrote 3 letters after the value, as if it was a unit. 93AUD or Australian dollars is exactly 50.82 GBP or great British pound sterling at the time of my writing this. Currency conversion, learn it
Love how people complain over an awesome looking 2 hour action game that’s right to the point of what it is designed to be when they’ll buy $24 blu ray movies of similar caliber and view time. To be honest $20 is a great deal for a two hour bombastic experience. And it looks amazing.
Review seems pretty fair, and pretty accurate as well, mostly reflecting my experience with the game. I got it for free, since I purchased the first one, so I have no room to complain about it. I enjoyed the game. The way I see it, this game is basically a resume that FYQD can use to get a job working at a larger studio, or for seeking investment funds in the future.
@@CypherDND That was the predecessor, and the developer publicly apologised. Also, so what if it's in Unreal Engine. The engine doesn't make much of a difference. The difference is what it makes easier for the developer to do
@@CypherDND Who cares if they use other peoples' assets? As long as they're free to be commercially used, and are put together in a way that works for the game (in which case it works very well for this game), I see no issue in that, in fact it would save the dev/s so much time especially with an extremely small team. And no, it's not a lazy way to make a game, as 3D assets are just a fraction of what makes a good game. There's plenty of resources out there, so why not use them?
This looks like a very promising project. Hopefully they get enough support to hire more people and continue this project/or make anything else. Just imagine what they could do when they have the resources
0:48 "Not, that it's completely up to the level of what we might call a AAA experience." Perfect. Don't get me wrong, I am very much aware, that this line was meant to mean, that the game isn't "as great", but if the game isn't what we might call a AAA experience, that's one of the best things, that could have happened to it. If anyone is wondering why: Under which rock have you been living the last 5 to 10 years and have you looked at many of the AAA games, that got released in that time? They are cashgrabs. The same game released every year, with maybe slightly updated graphics and more and more lootboxes and ingame gambling. And yes, I know, that this is mostly true for the "Assassin's Call of Battle-FIFA 6969"s of the world published by EA-visionsoft or others, but still. Those three companies (EA, Activision, Ubisoft) are the three biggest AAA publishers out there.
Having watched this BYB it makes me think this is the love child of Bulletstorm and Dishonoured. It looks quite impressive for a small development team and puts a lot of AAA titles to shame from the gameplay shown here even if it has a few minor issues like Falcon mentioned.
I bought bright memory on sell when it was ~$7 with no expectations. IIRC, it's a single dude. I had fun playing the "tech demo" pleasantly surprised he was able to follow through on his promise to release the game exactly when he said he would. That's more consistency than we get from triple A studios with 100x the budget.
Twenty bucks for two hours experience is the length of most movies so, all in all it isn’t that bad of a price. This has some replay ability at the very least.
ALL in all? Considering you can go for $10 ? I still wanna "see" this indie game though. Albeit, Stray - a totally different type feels like a better value
Bought this ages ago on the recommendation of this channel. Considering back then it was just the work of one man, it was a surprisingly good game. Looking forward to getting into the full game
A two hour game? That’s what may be the deciding factor for me to buy it. It looks pretty awesome, and I am very thankful that in this day and age, there are some devs that are respectful of my time. I’m tired of the super long games that are overstaying their welcome with stupid fetch quests and collectibles, etc. Thanks for the review, I didn’t know this game 20 minutes ago, and I’m now looking forward to trying it!
I agree. I mean the more profit they make off of this the better their next game will be. Cus if they can do this with such limited resources and a tiny team imagine what they could do with more people and an actual budget
This game is 20 buck, 10GB in size and made by a small team, where AAA game companies have more people, game is huge and the game still sucks. I give these guys a definite win for even being able to challenge the big boys.
Being a budget gamer I'd like to agree with Falcon on waiting for the price to come down, but this time I'ma have to disagree. $20 for 2 hours is steep, yes, but supporting talented devs like this when they're already such a small team will hopefully keep them around to give them a bigger budget someday. We need more single player games from devs that are willing to take risks like this rather than follow the Ubisofts and Activisions with massive open world maps that are cluttered with collectibles, and a story/campaign that's drowned in side content that really can make the entire experience a complete slog.
I remember managing to get this game in 2019 but never touching it becasue there was other things to play. I remember someone refering to it as an FPS dark souls
Honestly, I think most games try to be too long these days and they really feel like a slog after hour 10 or so (Far Cry 6 comes to mind for games that came out lately). I really like a good game that I can finish in a weekend and still have time to do my housework. 2 hours, while definitely not a weekend's worth of game, shouldn't dissuade you from supporting this team.
I haven’t had any trouble wall jumping or anything. I did have one glitch where I did my airborne sword attack which made me somehow fall under the map, but overall the game is pretty damn good. It’s just disappointly short. Hopefully they add more to it for free in future updates and I have high hopes for this developer going forward. If they had a larger team and/or budget, they could really come out with something spectacular
I’m excited for the switch version! Game looks sweet, sucks it’s short tho. Hopefully they add a horde mode or something for some fun jump in and slice some guys time killers
"Stolen assets controversy" In January 2019, Zeng admitted on a post on Sina Weibo that he has used some enemy models without acquiring a license and modified them for use in the game but did not specify which models or which games they were from.[11] In reaction, Zeng has announced that he will use the money from the game's sale to hire an art designer and reach out to the original rights holders. HAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHA
Comparing games that has fps mixed with supernatural to Bioshock is just as bad as any game with stamina and/or dodging and timed combat being compared to a Souls-Borne. Such over used terms it’s getting redundant at this point. Never once did I think this game looked even a little bit like any Bioshock game there are so many other contenders that would make a way more accurate comparison
I bought the original and the Infinite on all platforms I own (PC, Xbox, and PlayStation). I WANT to support these developers and I'm sure this is money well spent. I look forward to see what the future holds for them! I'm impressed as I was when I first saw this in the Xbox Series showcase a couple of years ago!
I've been playing it last night and tonight too and I still haven't ended it tho I have a feeling I was against the last boss so definitely way more than 2 hours, this dude must be a speed runner to finish it so quickly lol. I'll update with my final play time later but I've gotta say I'm living the gameplay, it's fast paced, action packed and full of lots and lots of ammo to shoot every weapon to your heart's content like Black or Doom and Sheila feels like she's a super soldier like the dude in Crysis with a bit of supernatural powers like in Bioshock or Dishonored. It's a very fun game. Edit: it took me 3 hours to beat the game, the last boss was really hard.
This looks identical to Shadow Warrior 2. Oriental setting, guns mixed with swordplay, the sword slash with the energy slash thing, the ability to hold enemies up in the air, the dodge dash, all of it lol and the grappling beam/hook thing is coming in SW3. Looks amazing tho!!
But is there any replay-ability? Is there any reason, besides achievements, to come back and play it again - unlocks, special scenes, different weapons, behind the scene stuff? From an achievement prospective does it seem like an easy game to complete?
achievements are easy to make.... I don't search for them but got a bunch on my 1st playthrough; idk about replayability, but the original you had to finish 3x to unlock everything possible, so here it might be smt. similar.
This game is so short because they put most of their resources in to making it look AAA. It takes a VERY VERY long time to make a game like this for tiny studio
The driving and airplane wing section are very annoying. It would help if they would let you reassign the steering to the right stick and quickly moving your index finger back and forth between the "R"button and"X" button can be a little clumsy when using the sword. If they would allow you to reassign the buttons in the settings would help maybe the could patch this.
Don't think about the time for a second... I mean how often do you replay the same map over and over again in any multiplayer game out there? And btw it is meant to be played multiple times. Just like Bright memory (the first one) you can only 100% after you played it a couple of times. And don't be fooled the gameplay is so intuitive and satisfying it is just right. Nothing is off or anything (PC+keyboard)
Beautiful game but also pretty janky, really short, and pretty linear. Would be great if they have the budget and manpower of most western aaa companies.
Wow, can't believe I have never heard about Bright memory till today this is why I love this channel you provide much needed exposure to these lesser known studios. Will definitely keep a eye out for their future releases.
I just got this game for the switch. Its amazing. I just finished it for the first time. It probably took me 5 or six hours to beat it the first time on easy but I've gotten more than halfway through in about an hour the second time around. The length of the game isn't really a negative thing to me because it's so much fun, I don't mind playing it all the way through a few times on all the different difficulty levels. Most games that take weeks to beat, even if they're good, I probably won't play them anymore after the first time.
This game is proof that a game can look really good and realistic and be very well optimized. This is corruption free game unlike many modern triple AAA games that make demanding games so that you will buy new hardwares.
The fact this one dude has a gameranx video about his game is dope. Bought this 2 years ago for $5 as my first rtx game on my 2080. First pc in 15 years. Amazing in that respect. Edit: yeah the production value and team went up a bit. Still better than Banguard
why people complain is only 20 bucks. out there their games that cost 60 bucks and give only 4 hours of gameplay and top of that they call then self AAA. are least this game you know and they know this game is not a AAA. real AAA game millions of dolars to make and only 4 hours awful gameplay and good graphics and a lot of bugs that is all. this game with low budget looks good, good gameplay good mechanic and some tiny problems. like always great Before You Buy video.
