This is our home, 2 years later it is still fantastic. To all those naysayers out there or critics, you really don't know what you don't know, looking from afaf. We love our home. We stay here 2-3 nights a week on our place of employment, 1.5 hours from our residence. In fact, we often have 4 people staying there will no issues. Adding a generator helps when they power goes out and it is also our designated "bug out" location should a hurricane come our way. FANTASTIC HOME!

The farmhouse sink originated in a time when there was no running water. The idea behind the sink was that it was a place to hold large amounts of water, which was fetched by hand from nearby wells, lakes and rivers. The two original farmhouse-style sinks emerged in Ireland and Britain in the late 17th century. LOVE your work!! Looking forward to the day that I’m getting one of my very own!! ✌🏻😃

I really wish there were more tiny homes on one-level, to give more consideration to older couples with mobility issues who can’t do tiny ladders or stairs or not be able to fully stand in the bedroom. It would be a good solution for retirement, to have senior-friendly tiny homes & tiny home villages.

Minimiliste has done a great job w/ main floor bedrooms. They even have a loft style w/ very easy, short stairs and a landing that easily allows for anyone to stand fully and change right at a closet, then just a boost up into the loft. Thought the design was brilliant, so you can actually age in a home made that way.

First let me say. I love your tiny homes. I have pretty much settled on a Magnolia XL design. I do see a minor flaw with the barn door and ladder setup that you may want to rethink. If some is using the loft as a bedroom and they need to go up when the door is open, it is not possible to close the barn door if you need privacy in the bathroom while the ladder is up. Another scenario that would be an issue is if someone has gone up to the loft to sleep and you have gone to sleep in the master and the barn door behind the ladder is closed, you are stuck in the master until the loft sleeper comes down and removes the ladder. I would suggest either a pocket door there or setup hooks that do not interfere with the barn door mechanism. I personally would go for the storage stairs up to the loft.

Yay, you are back! We missed you and the lovely homes you create. The Magnolia is one of my favorites. Since I live in Alabama, I was especially pleased to see a tiny house that would work for this climate. Fantastic work as always. The solar blinds are a nice touch.

You make the best tiny houses. I told my husband if either of us is infertile, we are moving into tiny house. I love the aesthetics of the house but especially that shower is gorgeous! I also live in AL and wish this house is being shipped to my house 😍😍 I truly wish to own this beauty some time in the future! (But I don't want to be infertile!! If the opportunity ever comes to live in this...would be awesome!)

Farmhouse sinks were made to fit the lifestyle of a typical women living in a farm house back in the day. A deep sink for more water. The sink slightly protrudes from the surrounding cabinets to allow easier access esp when women were around the sink often. It also allows overflowing water to run to the floor and not down the cabinets which would ruin them. The faucet is also behind the sink, no hole inside the sink, to allow for more water. Some farmhouse sinks also are situated slightly under the surrounding platform so water that splashed out can easily be pushed into the sink with your hands.

I really like the closet right by the entrance! The fact that everything will be behind doors and clean looking appeals to me. I love the white kitchen with peninsula. What kind of system do you have in the corner bottom cupboard? Is it a regular lazy Susan or pull out shelves? I love this house. I would rather have stairs to the loft instead of a ladder though I'd be sleeping in the loft.

People then were often wrestling large/heavy/numerous items in and out of the sink: large cookware, buckets of water or milk, bushels of produce, babies, and more. Being larger, lower down, and projecting out with room for your knees below, means much easier to lift with less leaning over.

Farmhouse sinks were typically just sinks and then later people build cabinets around them so they are not drop in.

There probably is variations of it. Have you looked through all their videos? But all the houses are highly customizable. Most of these models came about because of customer request.

@@phil6853 Designs for the UK would have to be different, you have more strict restrictions on max dimensions and weight than they do in Canada and the States. Shipping across the overseas is also very cost prohibitive. So you may have to look to a more local builder... Minimaliste has suggested Baluchon in France, for example, which are well know for their designs and creativity, but there are others you may want to check into as well for what more local options you may consider... Like the 2 Tiny Twins House of Thierry, by Lou Tiny House (Pyrenees, France) has very similar design elements as the Magnolia... La Tiny House Company is another one comparable to Baluchon... Tiny House Scotland for something that may be closer to you... There's a fair number of builders in the UK and a couple of the surrounding European countries. Basically, you can find a variety of builders in Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Republic of Estonia, Latvia, Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia, Scandinavia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine, and the UK... Ranging from architects to basic builders...

Rural Dishpans: Farmhouse Sink’s Humble Beginnings Not all that long ago, people had to haul water from lakes, rivers, and wells for all their water needs: washing dishes, boiling food, and cleaning their clothes. These early homes had dishpans and dry sinks, not connected to a plumbing system, so they needed to fill and drain manually. This is where the farmhouse sink came into play. Also known as apron sinks, or apron front sinks, these large kitchen basins were often present in rural homes of decades past. They were originally designed for comfort; for women who spent long hours at the sink, ergonomics were important - the apron front’s forward orientation eliminated the countertop that caused them to lean forward and strain more than necessary.

Something to keep in mind is not all designs from Canada or the States would work in Europe. You generally have to deal with smaller roads with lower max weight limits. So any designs you do consider should be optimized for the restrictions you have to deal with in Europe but that will be automatic if you go with a local builder or one from a neighboring European country...
