This song was written by myself and Aine O'Gorman. We wanted to mark the first time a female Goddess is given a National Holiday in Ireland. We were commissioned by our local Arts Group, Creative Bandon to write it in 2022.I love that Brigid is Goddess of so many things, she was the first ecologist, goddess of fire, honey, dairy products, blacksmithery, children of unmarried mothers, children of abusive fathers, poetry, creation, the list goes on. What I love most is that she was that she was an advocate for the marginalised and oppressed. Also she is a goddess of liminal spaces, those beautiful in between things that dualistic religions cannot embrace or understand. Brigid lives in threes.Which is why this is the first part in a trilogy we are writing! Hope you enjoy the song and video!
