What a joy it is to see that Swami Sarvapriyananda is dedicated to commenting on the central book of this tradition that bears the name of Ramakrishna. May this center on the Master, Sri Ramakrishna, be ever more constant, and may the devotion to God, without shame and without constraint, which is the hallmark of Thakur's teaching, always be spread by the monks who bear the name of Sri Ramakrishna. Unfortunately, there is a great desire on the part of Swami Nikhlananda to incline the reading of Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita towards the dry teaching of Advaita Vedanta, and this is always very clear in the attempts to say "Bhakti can be a good thing as long as one is too attached to the body..." Sri Ramakrishna did not teach this. Sri Ramakrishna taught that devotion is both a means and an end, that devotion to God is everything.

I think it would be even better if the reading were from Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita itself, since there are comments by Mahendranath Gupta present in the Kathamrita that are not in the Gospel, and there are comments by Swami Nikhlanalanda (translation of meanings) that incline the orientation away from the original meaning of M.'s record. In any case, reflection on Thakur's teachings is the essential thing.
There's planty of bhakti as it is in the Gospel. Thakur is everything, so there's space for everybody, this is one of His greatness. There are also jnana orianted people in this tradition both monks and devotees. Even yogis. One of the reason im part of this tradition is, that its inclusive when it comes to spirituality. I did hade a stronger judgement towards bhakti, which I worked on, if I can work on this, others can as well towards jnana or yoga.
Swami Medhananda of the Ramakrishna order has given and continues to upload classes on the Gospel of Ramakrishna. Class 1 was given Oct 19, 2022 on RU-vid.

These narrations, transmitted by learned sages, eradicate one’s sinful reactions and bestow good fortune upon whoever hears them. These narrations are broadcast all over the world and are filled with spiritual power. Certainly those who spread the message of Godhead are most munificent. This shloka(sanskrit verse) is chanted before studying Bhagwat Purana too. In this case before studying Kathamrita.

I am torn between Advaita Vedanta as taught by Swami Sarvapriyananda and Vijnana Vedanta as taught by Swami Medhananda. A debate between the two spiritual giants will be very welcome.
They won't debate. Swami Sarvapriyananda is Adwaita(of Ramkrishna Tradition) and Swami Medhananda is a very great Scholar Swami his work is more radical, that's why most of the people who listen to Swami Sarvapriyananda don't like his speeches, some are so oversmart that they think Swami Medhananda don't know Adwaita properly😂 which is totally untrue, I think Swami Medhananda is more close to Thakur and Swami Vivekananda's philosophy but people as what people are don't want anything other than Shankara's adwaita, many are unaware that even Shankara's adwaita and Madhusudan Saraswati's adwaita is different.
Yes, in fact, we ARE reading chapter 8 of the Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna ('we' meaning me, myself, and I) - as I have been very slowly reading the Gospel sequentially for the first time over the past several years and finally finished chapter 8 for the first time the night before this video posted. It is a nice reminder of advaita, and reminders of advaita keep life very interesting, as do reminders of Ishvara and avatara.
Swami how is Energy different from consciousness?? In scientific and spiritual terms how will you correlate harmonize both philosophies in terms of matter and Energy. Say Quantum mechanics theory. Theory of relativity. What is electro magnetic field or radio frequency or gravitational force what kind of consciousness energy it is Brahman Atman or life force Prana vayu, Energy resources?? What are riddhi siddhi Energy and WiFi energy or Rishis know all universe sitting at one place in meditation energy is that Brahman Atman eternal infinite power !!?? Define clearly??!!
So regretfully advaita vendanta is stagnated and miopic in the very core ideas. Projecting the responsibility for "creating the universe" that we perceive onto God/Brahman implies that this God/Brahman is divided and not whole. While Ramakrishna was somewhat proficient in experience the nondefined part of our being, he have not understood the mechanics of that state and continued in fantasy talks about Brahman being the creator of limits, an error so profound and hidden from those who blindly repeat the advaita doctrine. So far the only one who understood it properly and made attempts of delivering the "good news" was Jesus, but his ideas were corrupted and his image made a prop in a neutered ritual. When will you ramakrishna's start pulling your weight?

The Kingdom of God is within you, says the Saviour. Vedanta says the same thing in essence. If one studies the New Testament closely and compares it with Advaita Vedanta, one will find more similarities than differences. Of course, a certain catholicity in the approach is called for. One can then adore Christ and Krishna equally.
