Hi Miranda! We were thrilled that Frenchman’s Creek was your opening book - it’s always been our favourite Daphne novel. And of course Rosamunde Pilcher and Agatha Christie are perennial favourites. We always thoroughly enjoy your videos! Many thanks, Sandra and Janet from the west coast of Ireland (possibly quite Cornwall-like!) xx

How perfect!!! I am 2/3 through "Coming Home" and for the past week and a half have been happily immersed in the world Rosammunde Pilcher created. Just had to take a little reading break to have a bit of a cry, as I am at a sad part of the story. I have fallen in love with her characters and don't think I want the book to end and to have to say good bye to all of them. Thank you for all of your recommendations.

My Mother & I were/are great ANGLOPHILE ADDICTS. Yorkshire & Cornwall are bucket list travel destinations. But-- until or if, I am happy to armchair travel (AT). Lol. Thanks for a wonderful review of Cornwallian? book picks.📚🔖👓

I first came to UK from the US to visit relatives in Yorkshire area, then visited Cornwell because of 'Shell Seekers' and St. Ives, staying in Penzance. My favorite area.

I love Rosamunde Pilcher and especially "The shell seekers". And I love the Poldark series too. I'm Spanish but I had been to Cornwall on holidays two years ago and I loved it.

How apt just dowloaded Frenchman's Creek as an audio book! Thanks so much Miranda another beautifully collated Cornish canon and a happy reminder of dear Cornwall and lovely holidays we have had there on our UK sojourns. Time to reread the Camomile Lawn too. Another special for me! So truly appreciate your work.

Really enjoyed this video. I love reading books set in Cornwall. I'm a big fan of Rosamunde Pilcher. I recently discovered (whilst in Cornwall on holiday) Liz Fenwick. All her books are set in Cornwall and she definitely has similarities to Rosamunde Pilcher. Thanks for the reminder of The Camomile Lawn. I haven't read it for a very long time but will pick up my battered old copy again xx

I've had Frenchman's Creek on my bookshelf for around 10 years unread. I really should get to it soon! I love Cornwall but I don't get to go as much as I would like considering I only live a couple of hours away in Somerset. Maybe a weekend away is in order.

I love Coming Home, have read it many times and I’ve just finished the Shell Seekers on Audible (again read the book numerous times.). They are just the ultimate comfort reads for me. I read all the Poldark books many years ago and, like you, read the first book again when the recent tv series was shown. Was going to read all the books again but haven’t got round to it! Peril At End House is one of my favourites too.

I can’t believe how timely 😄 I just wrote a book suggestion down of someone else set in Cornwall and watched a Poirot set in Cornwall Sunday which put me in the mood to read about it! I’ve been there one time in real life more than twenty years ago.. time to make a literary trip back 😊 📚

I am hoping to go camping in Cornwall at the end of September, so thank you very much for these great reads, love Daphne du Maurier, have read Frenchman's Creek and I really enjoyed it!!, and have read Ross Poldark, haven't heard of the others and they sound brilliant! Blackwells are going to get fed up with sending me book parcels soon!! 😂

Hello Miranda, what a wonderful set of books with Cornish settings. One of my favourites set in Cornwall is the children's series The Dark is Rising Sequence by Susan Cooper which I am sure you know. Wouldn't it be lovely to be in Cornwall... so many wonderful things in that beautiful part of the country. Happy Cornish reading, Teresa ⚓️🐚📚

Loved the suggestions for books set in Cornwall. I have been to Northern and Southern Cornwall and totally fallen under it’s spell so books set in the area really interest me. If you are looking for any non-fiction I would suggest The Salt Path and then The Wild Silence both by Raynor Winn which focus on walking the Coastal Path and also Dark, Salt, Clear by Lamorna Ash which is about the fishermen of Newlyn

I love to read books which are set in places I've been. I've read a few of these already (Frenchman's Creek is a favourite) but have added others to my wish list. I just came across 'Red Spider' by Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould (1887), it features the setting of Combe Park Farm, which now lies at the bottom of Roadford Lake reservoir, which I visited in October. It's actually in Devon but not far from the Cornish border. I found a secondhand copy but haven't read it yet.

So far, it sounds intriguing and I’m looking forward to finding out Madge’s story and her relationship to the residents of Cornwall. I’ve got my copy of China Court and I’m counting the days for the first book club video!

If I can recommend a memoir by a native of Cornwall, let me endorse Jack Clemo's *The Marriage of a Rebel* (1980). This is a poet's tribute to his past, a record of gratitude. Once read, never forgotten. Five stars. On a par with PJ Kavanagh's *The Perfect Stranger* and Danny Abse's *A Poet in the Family*.

Wonderful suggestions :) The Feast is on my list but I keep forgetting to get myself a copy! Hoping to pick up China Court to read this month for your book club. I really liked Bone China, especially the way the narrative switches back to the main character's past and how the ending tied into it with her making amends for her wrongs. You can definitely see Daphne du Maurier's influence on Laura Purcell :)

I'm also new to her and also purchased a couple of books recently which I also plan to start next month.
