I live in Anchorage Alaska, and don't live in the city if you wanna see it. You may see little glimpse of it, but not the whole thing. On a very cold and dark night (Usually pitch black by 4:30Pm in the winter and sun's still up at 12:00 Am in the summer) you can see the stars, and most likely the Aurora. It's an amazing sight, even in the city. I hope you achieve your dream. I recommend becoming an Anchorage citizen because you get pfds of 2,000 in October. Free to use on anything

My grandmother grew up in Alaska, and one of her favorite things to do when she was a kid was go outside at night with a blanket and a Thermos of hot cocoa, and she'd just lay down on the blanket and look up as the northern lights did their thing.

I'm so blessed to live in Alaska and see these beautiful lights in real time, not sped up time lapse, but slow dancing like streams of glitter from heaven filling the dark winter sky with Light and Love from God above.

I went on an Alaska tour a few years ago in September where you go to Fairbanks and then get bussed up to a little place up in the mountains to see the Northern Lights. We stayed there for a week, and NOTHING. It was cloudy one night, but the other 5 nights (we were there 6 nights), the lights just didn't happen. They said it was very unusual to go a whole week with nothing. Spent a lot of money on that trip too and was hugely disappointed. It was awesome to see Alaska though, and I had never been, but I don't think I would have spent all that time and money if I would have known there would be no Northern Lights. I have seen them a couple of times from where I live, but I was looking forward to seeing them bright and overhead.

It's amazing, how beautiful our Universe is. Imagine, that it actually are gamma-ray bursts caused by our Sun, they are deadly and could in a moment take us back to the Stone Age, when it comes to technology and civilization. The are filtered by our atmosphere, and that's.what we see, just nice colors on the night sky
@zeyadrefaat6927
@zeyadrefaat6927 2 года назад
They’re not Gamma ray bursts! A Gamma Ray burst from the sun would kill us, even with our atmosphere! What comes out of the sun that causes the Aurora is the ‘Solar Wind’ from solar flares and Coronal Mass Ejections, the atmosphere protects us from these charged particles of plasma.

Thanks God I had the privilege of being part of this wonderful experience in Ottawa many years ago. It was a gift from God because people who live there told me that they haven't seen it in that way before. It was like the ones showed in this video. I must say I haven't seen nothing better in nature than this espectacular event. So I thank God because I was asking about aurora borealis, but people told that only in Alaska. 😉

@piahansen656 8 лет назад
Turnip Beets That certainly is interesting. Different way to look at it, although didn't they used to think the earth was also a dome with the sun, moon and stars 'hanging' from the top? So many theories on the shape of the universe, hard to come by any actual knowledge of it, and let's face it, due to the distances out there, we're not likely to know anytime soon. Aren't we just around the time where 'Soho' will be exiting our solar system? I think it left earth in the mid to late 70's ( can't quite remember) and has only just gotten to our edge. Astonishing stuff. Thanks for responding :)
