When I was young I played this every morning before high school. It was in a little cafe called Dot's Lunch. That would have been the mid to late 70s. Loved it. Would spend my lunch money in it.

Dot's Lunch, I always love hearing the names of the places these things were in, that's so cool. You were getting your games in before school too, that's awesome!

I imagine a few slices of good pizza helps as the process moves along. Ayeeeeeeeee! It's a fun video. I thought that paint on the back of the backglass would look horrible when put back on the machine. But it looked fine in the light.

Hi Joe, I am Peter from Holland, Europe. I truly enjoy each and every video you post. I admire what you are doing and sure gonna look you Guys up some times when I am in the States. My parents own a Strikes an Spares and in my youth I played it a lot... even played it trough the numbers if you know what I mean... anyway the sounds are similar to Strikes and Spares and brought sweet memories. Thx for all the nice work, take care and hope to see more of your great work soon!

Another great job. I have been bingeing your schematics videos because I’m trying to get a 1953 United Classic Shuffle Alley up and working. It’s a sentimental endeavor because my late Uncle left it to me and he never got it working. Nobody near me will work on them but I have been making progress because of you. I have four issues left on this machine but they have been stumping me. Good thing is I will not let it beat me, just need some advice. Keep up the amazing work. Your videos are excellent.
@LyonsArcade

You can fix it man if you get stumped on something email me the schematics and what it's doing and I might be able to figure it out...

Awesome restoration I dropped buckets of quarters in this machine when it was new when I was younger, i think the flippers are too wide too. I remember them being a little narrower and lower, sitting parallel to those rails behind them but not quite touching but the length of them look about right they ended just about the middle of the c on collect and the middle of the n on bonus . Also when it was leveled right most of the time when hitting the right kick bumper it would hit the rubber just above the metal on the begining of the left shoot, if it was a little low it would seem to go right down the drain.
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 4 года назад
You can adjust those flippers up a little bit, you may be right :) Thanks for watching Zelos, we appreciate it!

Looks great Joe. Saved another one. When you use the rattle can clear coat, how do you cover up the kicker switches and lamp sockets?
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 5 лет назад
You can use a little bit of tape, and on the sockets just leave the old bulb in it.

They could also call this pinball machine, "Happy Days -- The UNAUTHORIZED Eight Ball!" I see bootleg Fonzi here, the girl in the upper right corner looks like Richie's little sister, Joanie. Man oh man, do they push the envelope with unauthorized likenesses of actors on merchandise! They did the SAME THING all the time to the late Christopher Reeve. There's a very famous comic book artist who one time admitted DC licensing TOLD HIM to push the likeness and make his Superman look as much like Reeve as possible! Up until 11 years ago, they were also doing a Superman likeness in the comics very much like Reeve. The statues that are 1978 Superman I believe are authorized by his estate but the rest of it? Of course, they don't pay his family a dime if the likeness is just a bit different!

We use Meguiar's Carnuba car wax.
@billwilliams6338
@billwilliams6338 5 лет назад
how do you put the pinball games williams, ballys, stern, gottlieb in test mode? Once you got it in test mode you use the dipswitches to save the settings? The Lamp driver board and light driver board is always the same in all pinballs it seems, the only differences are the MPU boards. But the MPU board has what ROM chips and CPU chips z80 or 6502?

Hey Joe, how many hours do you think you have in getting this pin to where you have it now? This one seemed like a lot wrong with it and i have a several machines in similar shape. Just curious how much time i should set aside per machine. Its been a long time since i have worked on any. thx Forgot to say I think you did a really nice job on it.
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 5 лет назад
I would say about 30-40 hours total. Usually work on it a couple hours a day over a couple weeks.

@LyonsArcade

Chris the best way to do it is with full on automotive clear coat but we just use rattle can krylon clear. Especially if you're just doing a spot on the playfield.

Those video are interesting, I don't know anything about pinballs. What's the goal of the wax ?
@LyonsArcade
@LyonsArcade 4 года назад
The original games had painted wood so it was a way to protect the wood from the ball bearing rolling around on it and wearing down the paint. On the more modern machines they have a mylar coating or a thick clear coat so it's not as necessary... still looks good though :)

Joe's Classic Video Games I have a “survivor” Eight Ball with original playfield. It sat around for a long time because someone forced a connector on upside down on the mpu. Also, the otherwise pristine back glass was cracked in half! I got an new mpu & backglass, new bumper caps and have owned it for over 20 years.
@gorillaau
@gorillaau 4 года назад
@@kmart0017 a Blown MPU? Gawd there are some ham fisted individuals put there. At least make sure that the ground on the machine is same as the ground of the MPU.
