Go with your gut Laura, it seems to work for you. I've noticed when willow rolls she favours one side. It's very important that she does a full roll. The half roll maybe telling you somethings up. I may be wrong but it's worth mentioning it to your vet or trainers. Hope this is helpful.❤🐴❤

I’m not sure if this helps but willow could be doing the same thing my horse does he rolls on one side then gets up and rolls on the other

We have one horse that rolls right over, but our pony rolls on one side then the other side. We were told that if they learn to roll right over by the time they are 5 then they will keep doing it, if they don't learn to roll right over they will roll one side at a time. I'm new to horse ownership so there's a lot to learn, my daughter and l love watching your channel. Exciting to see Storm finally home, hope he settles in well.

Yea, Storm is home ! I hope Willow and Finn like and get along with Storm because Stella already knows him. Laura, you are a beautiful person inside and out. Everyone can attest to that. I'm so excited to see the journey that lies ahead with your family and animals. Storm coming home was the final piece of the puzzle and now that's complete. Thank you for sharing your life with us 365 days of the year and for the positivity and hard work you put into making that possible. ☺️

Sam worked hard to clear the paddock 👍 That’s the great thing about having your horses at home Laura, you can notice subtle changes and often your gut feel is right. If you are really worried about ulcers with Willow, the only way to properly tell is for the vet to do a gastric endoscopy, so they can actually see if there are ulcers, or to come and have the vet give her a good general check over, which might be a good thing if she wasn’t vet checked on purchase; I’m sure the vet will advise you though 😊 Storm is home, how exciting, now you have a barn full and Gabby must be delighted and itching for his shoe to be put back on 😊ps bale twine, the farmers friend lol, so many uses from repairing fences, holding broken rugs together temporarily, tying horses too ( as long as it’s thin and will break if they pull away), making handles for buckets if the handles break, repairing broken tack temporarily, temporarily halters and can be weaved/plaited together to make a temporary lead rope.....the list is endless. If you go to a show, always take some, you just never know when it might come in handy, even as a makeshift belt if you forget yours and your breeches are falling down lol

Yaaaay! Storm is home! Hopefully he will fit in with no dramas :) you have the bonus that he knows Stella and has seen/just travelled with Finn so fingers crossed. How wonderful to have them all in one place :) I think you are super connected to the horses, and it’s fab you are getting a gut feeling (literally at the moment!) about how they are feeling. No one knows your horses better than you. If you feel something is not right, trust that. Ulcers I think are more prevalent in the horse world than we know. 10 years or so ago they were only something racehorses got, because that’s all we knew and the technology/research wasn’t as good. Now more and more horses are diagnosed with them. I know you have been doing your research so you are probably clued up, but I thought I’d share my experience. I’ve been having issues with one of my mares. She has reoccurant colics a couple of times a year, is prone to sloppy/wet poo, is just generally very sensitive. I’ve suspected ulcers for a while, her last colic was January and my vet did a ‘Succeed’ test on her poo. This tests for blood, and if positive suggests hind gut ulcers. Hers was positive. I believe in the USA, Succeed do a 30 day money back trial on their supplement which is meant to be the bees knees for treating hind gut. Unfortunately they do not do this in the U.K. I looked into stuff and decided to treat her for stomach and hind gut (stomach ulcers you can only diagnose with a stomach scope) and so we used Abler products. It was not cheap (nearly £700 for a 2 month course) and the routine is quite heavy going due to the timings between doses and feeds (but as you are at home this would be easier) but it seems to have done the trick and she is doing much more solid poo and is much happier. Also, no further colics yet (touches all wood!). I am now giving her a supplement called Ron Fields Ulc30x Plus to keep her gut healthy. I’ve also put another pony on this and she has shown an improvement in her behaviour and happiness :) Other things to consider are alfalfa - some horses can be sensitive to this and it can cause ulcers. In her last home did she live in a stable at night? (I’m guessing in Canada this is pretty normal due to your winters, but over here stabling is sometimes cited as a cause). If she is ingesting any sand with her hay it could be irritating her gut, psyllium husk (you can buy from health food shop it’s cheaper than the horse stuff!) is great for clearing the gut out of any sand/debris - it turns to a gel and carries it out. You give a weeks worth each month just to keep on top of things. I guess as Willow is so small her digestive system is that bit more sensitive that the others Sorry I’ve rambled on!
@DayByDayVlogs
@DayByDayVlogs 5 лет назад
Wow. Lots of good info! I definitely do t tbink it has reached her hind gut yet. I'm hoping to.catch it quick. I have bee reading up and it looks like you have things totally under control! Bravo! So crazy expensive..your horses are so lucky to have you!

I’m so excited for you guys!! I have a horse and I’m currently boarding her down the road. Our plan was to get everything we need for her and build a paddock and a stall for her then bring her home. Boarding was only supposed to be temporary. We live on the same property as my grandpa and he told my mom we should keep the horse down the road because he doesn’t want all the grass to get eaten. But.. before we got the horse, he said we could have a horse on the property. We haven’t built anything yet but we were about to then my grandpa said she should stay at the other farm. My mom then told me he was in a bad mood, and she said we will tell him where we would put her and it wouldn’t be on the green grass. I really hope she can come home soon😢

Omg Laura I go through the exact same experiences whenever any of my animals or even my close family members are going through pain somewhere in their body I go through it too I genuinely feel their pain ! I'm definitely a big believer in God I have had too many experiences not to be, God really does have a plan all we need to do is trust him, aww so happy Storm is home bless him I always feel sorry for horses when they first arrive in a new place as they have no idea where they are lol but it doesn't take them long to settle 😊 nothing is ever straight forward with horses so you may have a few hiccups but all will settle down quickly x

Laura, we save our bailing twine, there's always a use for it. Believe me you'll find plenty, so hang onto it. Sometimes I even braid it to make extra ropes. You can use any macrame braiding, such as the one used to make the survival bracelets that used to be popular, & the ropes actually can look quite fancy. It doesn't hurt to have the vet recheck Willow again. I do that all the time with ours, the peace of mind is worth it. I too believe God directs us to things we need to know. Expect to see the pecking order established again now that Storm is home, but it will work itself out. (Look how Stella, Finn & Willow get along together now.)

Always go with your gut! No one knows your horses better than you and if you notice that something is off I would either keep an eye on it or call out a vet. That call out cost for the vet is annoying I know, but it really can save your horses life! I noticed that my mare was a little under the weather and when I rode she was snorting more than usual, so I called out a vet and they did a blood test and turned out that she was coming down with a respiratory infection. A week of antibiotics and quarantine later and she was given a full bill of health and she's back to full ridden work again. If we didn't get the vet out so quick and I didn't go with my gut feeling she might not be here today.

Some people at my barn use the twine for like a seat scraper. So say after you bath your horse and you dont have a sweat scraper you can always use the twine and honestly I think it works ALOT better. I have a paint that LOVES mud and it gets the muddy water off when I hose him off.

We use hay twine to make cross ties. We get diffferent colors each bale and we braid it then hook clips to them. Works amazing

For what to do with the twine, the barns that i have been to have all used them to hold up something or have something tied to it. So you can tie a piece on a hitching post or a pole that you may want to tie them to and then separate a few of the strands on the twine and you can tie a horse to that. It works as a break away in an emergency. Also since Storm is still walking with high steps lol when the boots are on, since he is gonna be by you now and im aure Gabby is gonna want to spend as much time around him as possible, go out with him and put his boots on and just walk him around to get him use to it itll make a difference. And it will help with bonding, doing small activities that he is usually uncomfortable with and getting him comfortable with them i hope this made sense and is helpful.
