Well as most of the Australians would already know, the Brisbane City Council just kicked off its brand new waste contract, yesterday on 2nd July 2018, ending the era of the old, super fast Series 2 Raptor and MJ GenV fleet, hence why I thought it appropriate to start the video off with a short clip o 807 in action as a bit of a tribute. Suez retained the Brisbane contract for another 16 years onto of two previous 8 year contracts, which will mean that Suez will have held the Brisbane City contract for 36 years when its time for renewal way into the future. Pretty much all of the drivers from the Rocklea yard have stayed on in the new contract thankfully which means that the runs are pretty much the same, so no need to train new drivers on runs. Suez have picked a mixed Superior Pak and Bucher fleet again, consisting of these big 35m Raptors for recycling, smaller, but just as tall 25m or so garbage trucks with super short wheelbases and this time they went for what look like 25m Bucher GenV Recyclers for green waste ( I will confirm the size when I can see the build plate on the 3 bodies). Surprisingly Suez have also brought back the infamous Single Pass split body to this new contract, there are two at the Rocklea yard and they will be used for outer suburb rural runs and potentially missed bins I have heard, looking forward to seeing them ( I have a picture of one on my flickr page www.flickr.com/photos/4885948.... The BCC contract is the biggest waste contract in Australia and as you would expect there are a large number of trucks for it, there are 110 plus new trucks so far in the new contract which range from side loaders to Bucher RL's and FL's for the unit's side of the contract and a range of different chassis, side loaders and front lifts are all on the Acco's (thankfully) and the big UrBin rear loaders are sitting on Euro 6 Mercedes Benz Econic's and small Isuzu's are used for the smaller rear loaders.
But here we have legend Shane who is seen in his old rig 807 and now drives BSR807 as of July 1, kind of nice the gave the majority of the drivers the same truck number I reckon. I was pretty excited to see the new trucks in action so I got up once again really early for work at 4:30 and headed out at around 5:15 to get some footage before work started at 6:30. Sadly this wasn't as much footage as I was hoping for, but it will do for the first video of the new contract I reckon. As you would expect BSR807 had a few issues today, but was cool to watch in the dark. The new LED lights and do a really good job lighting up the truck in the early mornings, cars can definitely see these trucks now. You may noticed the dead arm feature known to pretty much all series 3, 4 and 5 Raptors has been disabled thankfully and makes these trucks and the old fleet much more entertaining to watch. These trucks also have all the bells and whislte's too, cameras everywhere, touch screen packer controls, resi system and 3 monitor screens to watch cameras around the truck and the hopper camera. You never know, one day I could drive these eh, you never know.
