I am an 80 yr old female, lived in the US all my life except for 3 yrs in Norway. The only time my life and property were threatened happened in Paris, France. A kind chef in a cafe hid us in his kitchen until it was safe to come out. On American cultural imperialism; Norwegian landlord was complaining about all the TV shows in Europe and asked why we send that trash out to the world. My answer was that's easy - money. So i asked him why Eruopean countries buy that trash and he had no answer.

Absolutely any decent size city at least has a public bus system and some small towns have a small public bus system that will go straight to your house and your destination for a few dollars with wheelchair access lifts. Honestly I've never visited the really large cities on the East or West Coast but I would be hesitant to get on their public bus system and absolutely want nothing to do with their underground systems for a list of reasons starting with but not limited to them being underground with no way to escape quickly between stops.

Americans must pay federal income taxes and taxes on their homes, but some states do not charge taxes on income earned by its residents. I live in Florida and there are no state income taxes here. I must still pay federal taxes on my income. My native state of NY forced me to pay taxes on every cent I earned. That's why I no longer reside in NY.

Public transport widely depends on where you live. If you're out where towns are widely spaced apart, or there's more space? Chances are you'll struggle with it. If you're in a major city though? With the traffic and congestion, sheer number of people from all walks of life all trying to get to multiple major hubs? Of course we have solid public transport, or nothing would ever get done! New York City, for instance, most certainly relies on public transit. There are 19,000,000 people living there, to say nothing about people who commute in. My capitol city is pretty good, but the town where I live? Mmm...eh.

Yes, some states don't have income tax and some states don't have sales tax, I don't think any state has gotten rid of both of them though. But, you can't run from federal taxes no matter what state you're in. 9:30 "Is patriotism a bad thing?" "You'll never have a quiet world till you knock the patriotism out of the human race." -- George Bernard Shaw "Heroism on command, senseless violence, and all the loathsome nonsense that goes by the name of patriotism - how passionately I hate them!" -- Albert Einstein "Patriotism assumes that our globe is divided into little spots, each one surrounded by an iron gate. Those who have had the fortune of being born on some particular spot consider themselves nobler, better, grander, more intelligent than those living beings inhabiting any other spot. It is, therefore, the duty of everyone living on that chosen spot to fight, kill and die in the attempt to impose his superiority upon all the others." -- Emma Goldman

Seven more months and that will be over with. Those scholars were brilliant, IQ's off the charts. But there is fine line between an IQ that high and insanity. A lot, a whole bunch of people are so ready for this to happen. Getting back to the principals our country was very built on; Bill of Rights, Judeo-Christian values.....equaling our undying Patriotism, faith, and love for the United States of America. Everyone in the US is subject to federal income tax (which makes up the majority of most people’s tax bill), but states also impose their own taxes. Most states have income, sales, and property taxes, among others, while a handful choose to eliminate one of those tax streams in favor of increasing another.

We don't have a subway in New York. They have one in NYC but that's not New York that's New York City. We USED to have an interurban line that crossed the state. Various trolley and subway systems linked NYC to Albany and across to Buffalo but these were completely abandoned by the 1950's. The same time period that railroads started to abandon passenger service after Americans decided cars were more convenient than a train that let you out at a station that was no where near your destination. It was cheaper and less changing modes to just drive. This left NY with the commuter railroads around NYC, the NYC MTA, and the Amtrak trains that cross the state from NYC to Niagara Falls in the Empire Service and the daily Maple Leaf running from NYC to Toronto, Ontario and the Lake Shore Limited from NYC to Chicago. In my county we have a bus service, 20 passenger busses built on the Ford E-450 chassis. There are bus stops around but they are just a sign and you never see people at them, the bus is a "call for service" system, basically a taxi. You hardly see them stopped just driving around or at a store. He left out the millions of us who live in small villages far away from cities. And the people who don't even live in villages. The thing about guns is there are millions of us carrying guns but open carry is not common. You won't know that we are carrying until shit hits the fan and we have to use our gun. That's the purpose of Concealed Carry, to carry a firearm without making people nervous by seeing it. Especially with the active shooter scares people are likely to call the cops if you are open carrying.

@@nickjreacts Here in Washington State we don't have a State level Income Tax. We have a statewide Sales Tax and each city and county has their own added taxes for their local jurisdictions, but that's all. Our Sales Tax is also not allowed to be added to unprepared foods. Prepared foods, such as a cooked chicken you can get in the grocery store, is taxed. However, in Oregon, they don't have a Sales Tax but instead have a statewide Income Tax. It all just depends on what way each state's citizens decided they would use to collect the needed taxes to run the state's government. The Federal Government has Marijuana as an illegal drug. However, Washington State voters have decided to make it a legal commodity that can be taxed. Though the Federal Government may not like it, they don't have a say on which states legalize it and which ones don't. It's up to each state to decide. If you're caught going between states with it, however, the Federal Government will enforce its laws. The Federal Government runs the militaries that operate outside the U.S., the combined state's foreign relations, the emergency response for states when its beyond what they can handle alone, international trade, and international travel. Besides that, whatever laws the states decide on, as long as they don't conflict with the overarching Constitution, they're free to make. The U.S. Supreme Court is who decides on if a law a state has made is in conflict with the Constitution or not. If it's found in conflict with it, then it's deemed illegal and the law is nullified.

@srice8959 3 месяца назад
Depending on what part of America you’re in will dictate how public transportation is handled, and also depending upon when the cities and states had more people settling in. After WW2 America economy was booming and the government gave returning GI’s extremely low interest rates for them to buy a house. The thing is the government had a rule to qualify for the loan is it had to be a New House. By doing that it gave so many Americans jobs building houses. So a huge population of Americans moved out of the cities, and built new neighborhoods in the suburbs. Pretty much every American could afford to own a car. The president after the war was General Dwight D. Eisenhower who during WW2 was the supreme allied commander, and he seen the autobahn and wanted something similar for us in America. If you read up on our interstate and the German autobahn is it’s designed to be used as a runway for our jets. What makes perfect sense. Because if America and Russia went to war militarily bases and airports would be some of the first places bombed. Wit the interstates we could park the fighter planes and bombers underneath the overpasses that cross over the interstates to both protect them and to hide them from enemy aircraft over us and from Satellites too. Then the different planes could taxi down the interstate and take off to engage the enemies. If I was to make a video to explain why America does things the way we do. My video would quite literally take a few years just to explain 10% of why we do what we do. Sadly a lot of modern day Americans don’t even know why we do things like this. You can be pretty confident that almost always reasons why we do it especially when you look back at our history during the Cold War with the USSR
@chb2551
@chb2551 3 месяца назад
Unless I'm mistaken, the biggest reason for the interstate system was to have a reliable way of moving troops and equipment from one side of the country to the other side and in many more areas than the train system could reliably get to. The U.S. Army tried seeing how long it would take to cross the country from east to west on the existing roads. It took them 62 days to cross it. With the highways system, they can traverse it in less than a 10th that amount of time.
@srice8959
@srice8959 3 месяца назад
@@chb2551 No you’re spot on about this. The main reason for the interstate was military. From using as a runway, and to move troops quickly. Because if during the Cold War if our enemies was to hit our coastline the military could move so much equipment and men quickly. Especially because the interstates would only be used by the military, and with the drivers being able to take turns sleeping and driving and no traffic except for other military vehicles they could literally make it there in less then a day to just a couple days depending on how far they were from the action. Plus the part with using it as a runway they could take off and land and use overpasses as cover for the planes and the men would would be repairing them to send back up. It’s also why the vast majority of interstate have so much land between the interstates and the 100+ foot land on the side between the right lane and the frontage roads, and it’s so they can park fighters and camouflage them to help hide them too

Everyone pays Federal Income Tax, but not every state imposes a State Income Tax. Heavy tourist destination states like Florida and Nevada (because of Las Vegas) don’t have a state income tax because the state earns so much money from taxes paid by tourists. (Hotel taxes, rental car fee taxes, etc.) Liberal states like California DO have a ridiculously high state income tax…despite having a gazillion tourists…because they’re fucked up liberal states which waste money. Also, sales taxes differ from state, and even within the SAME states, because tax and spend policies differ from state to state as well by individual municipalities within the same state.

To be fair, Czechoslovakia still exists, it's just called The Czech Republic and Republic of Slovakia now. It still 'exists', it didn't sink into the earth, or down a major sinkhole. Yes, it's pretty bad here w/ the racism, but it's just a small vocal minority, but also too many cops and Republikkklans (tho we Democratic Party members tho fewer are, it still occurs). It's both better and worse than pre-tRumpo the Clown. There is NO "public transport" REALLY here where I live currently in Ohio. But 30 Miles away in Columbus, it's VERY good (or was when I lived there 30 years ago. So RURAL areas - sucks, big to medium sized cities, pretty good everywhere I've been anyway. Well, in OHIO (where I live) we do not tax FOOD, soda? Yes, blended fruit juices, yes, Orange juice (even if it's (yuck) "from concentrate"? NO. Steak? No, Hamburger? No, Fast food burger (IF 'Take out' NO, if you eat it inside the restaurant yes.). So it's odd and quirky, but mostly no. The Feds will still "get" yeah even if a tax-free state exists (which I THINK no). The Federal Government mainly conducts relations - including trade, treaties etc... w/ other countries. And states cannot make laws that violate or circumvent Federal laws (tho the RepubliKKKlans still try - OFTEN, we need to have laws against passing those laws with PENALTIES tacked on that are NOT against the taxpayers, but rather against the politicians. Now, I SPEAK but do not WRITE/Type several languages (and I'm only semi-fluent in a few - so bear w/ my "spelling) Also I don't know the alphabets when different either, but I am getting better on at least The German characters/spellings a BIT. I forget, maybe a wee bit more, but definitely understand more than I can speak) I call it "Polite ". But by no means fluently. So, fwiw. Yeah, I also think we feel 'responsible' in a lot of conflicts - and likely should. Half the time we don't even lock our doors around here. But I DO own an AR-15, tho it was a gift. But it is fun to shoot now and then. But I grew up shooting rifles and pistols... lie 1st time I was MAYBE 6 or 7. Shot my 1st muzzleloader at 8 or 9. Both the rifle type and the pistol type. If Europeans visited HERE in the SUMMER they'd understand the whole AC thing. I've had the windows open the last couple weeks b/c the outside temp has been nice... but AC time coming and had it on the 2 weeks before that was AC worthy. Not really, imo Imperialistic... well, some factions of the RepubliKKKlans, but most mainstream folks, no. I take my AR out 2x a year to clean and oil it, had it out last in 2019. Before that, 2015, before that 2008. Before that I didn't own it so... Ambulances typically are too much $. Yes. We are ok )I believe) here locally b/c we have volunteer firefighters/EMS units.

These are countries we've run military operations in. We've overthrown 50+ govt's since WWII. We're currently supporting, backing and fighting on two fronts in the opening stages of WWIII. Preparations are well advanced for fighting on the third front, Taiwan. In comparison, China hasn't dropped a bomb on another country in over five decades. Russia attacked its neighbor Ukraine in response to provocation from N*TO that they considered an existential threat to their national security.
