BRIT reacts to What Swedes Think About Denmark And Danes ? 2.0 

It’s so funny that the swedes are talking about how much we Dane’s are drinking because a big part of the swedes who are visiting Denmark are famous for drinking a lot and getting drunk in Denmark.

As a dane, who grew up in Sweden, I have always had a foot in both camps. I LOVE Sweden and think that culuturally we are quite similar. But there are differences. Swedes are very polite and "middelground." They follow rules and have had a lot of rules Danes find... ridiculous. Danes are much more outspoken, not to be rude, but it can definitely be perceived in that way by swedes. And in both countries it is a running joke, that we hate the other country, but some people take that seriously. I find it very weird, but then again, we are the two countries in the world, that has fought the most wars against one another - something in the region of 30 wars! As for alcohol: Norwegians go to Sweden, swedes go to Denmark, Danes go to Germany and Finns go to one of the Baltic countries (I can't remember witch) to get it it "cheap".

Love Denmark, and there is so much more to Denmark than Copenhagen. Depends on what you want to see and do of course. We are all different shades or sides of the same coin, some things are slightly different in all the Scandinavian (and Nordic) countries. I love Danish, a hard but fascinating language. It seems some Swedes here just bought in to some stereotypes and don't really get it. Hopefully they were not being serious. We are close and good neighbours up here, sometimes we disagree.

As a dane, I've lived and worked in Sweden - and learned that swedes have a LOT of moonshine!

Just came back to Sweden from 4 days vacay in Copenhagen, my favourite weekend spot. My take; beautiful architecture, very clean but also much more small scale than Sweden and Stockholm. The small shops, design stores, cafés and restaurants seem like something people are putting proud and effort into. Pace is generally slower, almost looking like people are lazy - but happy! The ”Continental” vibe is clearly there which Sweden doesn’t have. People are generally warm, but will be much more direct and confrontational than Swedes, which in Sweden definitely can be considered rude (but that i can like). They may have a streak of arrogance though, and are difficult to do business with, since they always try to get the upper hand, not always in a fair way. (Finland is where you will do the most honest business in the nordics!) Denmark is great overall, and i will keep coming back, still talking English ;)

Judging from this video, it's the Swedes who are rude. Danes are not rude. They are just much more relaxed and straightforward compared to Swedes. Swedes seem more snobbish

We do often have a lot of traditions around drinking, but it's not an essential part of our culture, we have a lot of baked goods and way of life that's very similar to sweden and norway, perhaps even finland. I'd say most of all, our rivalry between Sweden is a cultural meme, that is loosely settled in our history together. When it comes down to it, we have a lot of things in common and we both look to improving our countries socially and ecconomically through our government.

As 2 siblings who in the past were friends and family, then doing war and hate and now back to "regular" sibling rivaly, the last 100 years has really added a whole new dimision to the 2 countries, shared bonds in the best of ways. best is the see how the denmark or swedish footy vs italy was.

Unlike in Sweden, political correctness never really became popular in Denmark, and if it was about to "creep in", the Danish Muhammad cartoon riots in the Middle East took care of that back in 2006, which totally changed the debate and stand from right to left on refugees and immigrants, which I suppose is what they are talking about, when some Swedes mention that they do not like Danish politics, because the straightforwardness is so radically different.

well.. scandinavians comes down to some brotherly love. we love to banter each other, but if any outside comes in with a rant we will fiercely defend each other, PS Danes are often very direct, which easily can be percieved as being rude.., but shouldnt be

Danes and Swedes have to put eachother down a bit as a good neighbourly rule. As to some of the people calling us rude, there's also a flipside to that coin where it's also a prejudice in Denmark that Swedes are too politically correct and "boring" with their language. I don't drink myself, so my perspective might be warped, but I think it's pretty agreed on that people generally drink a bit too much and have been for generations. It might have become better in recent years.

Ask Danes the same questions about Swedes & i bet the responses would be similar, we've just always had that love/hate relations with each other.

"Eat strange food" is something that shouldn't be said by a swede, ever! :P One word: Surströmming... Fermented/half rotten fish that explode in your face upon opening the can xD There are no swedish Systembolaget or norwegian Vinmonopolet (state controlled alcohol retailers) in Denmark, so the norwegians come here with the tie around their neck and end up with the tie around the head like Karate Kid, while the swedes learn danish after 5-6 Carlsberg or Tuborg, then weird things start to happen - maybe that's why they hate their danish brothers and sisters so much :D

Dane here. First you have to know that Denmark and Sweeden has a love / hate relationship against eachother. We are the 2 countries that have had the most conflicts and wars against 2 nations in the history of the world. And if you live in southern Sweeden Scania area. Then sweeds mock their countrymen for live there, because that area of land was owned by Denmark. So here it comes. I as a dane dont like Sweeden because that how i'm suposed to. "just for fun and history", I kinda do like both Sweeden and Norway, both are like country siblings. Imagine having an annoying brother or sister, that is how we all feel about eachother. For language. Yes danish is alot different in the spoken way, and some may say we have the potato in the throuth, but i would not say that we sound like that. We do not have the rolling and singing speach like Sweedes and Norweigans have. But i still like Danish way more, i have hard times grasping what sweedes say most of the time, where norweigan is easies for me as a person to understand. cultural are Denmark and Sweeden like 99% the same. There is no difference at all. Danes may seem like more rude or reserved to strangers, where Sweedes more open and welcomming, but im sure most of the people from both nations are nice, wellcomming and helpfull. Sweedes intend more to be the steriotypical Scandinavian tall and blonde person, where Danes are more mixed with more brunettes and dark blondes. You are allways wellcome in Denmark.

Hallo. Danish have have very rude humor. We are exstreamy sarcastic and we dont really care about political corecness. I think thats one of rhe reasons sweds find us rude. And we are stright to the point like the germans. But come and visit us i think youll like it😁😁😁

about alcohol the danes dont drink to much its all the swedes and norwegian who come to denmark to buy cheep beer (we have no bolag .. vinmonopolet and sytembolaget)

First of, if you come to Copenhagen please come during the summer, and second you say you've already been to Sweden and Norway, and you state in your description that your planning to vlog during visits, but yet I don't see any of these vlogs in your channel? Besides Copenhagen is a much more beautiful city than Stockholm and the people are also more beautiful and they dress better. I guess you were saving the best for last.

I think rudeness is mostly kind of you get what you sow, rude Swedes will be treated rudely by Danes, and vice versa
